Trying to book vaccine, error message!

Mrsfrumble · 27/04/2021 15:19

Apologies if this has already been discussed at length in the coronavirus topic; I hid it ages ago and can’t remember my desktop login to unhide.

Anyway, I was very excited to see this morning that 42 year olds like me can finally have our vaccinations! Straight away I went online, armed with my NHS number to book, only to be met with an error code 9907 because the NHS can’t find my record to see which dose I need (not surprising as I haven’t had one yet) Confused I reported it to 119 as advised, and the person on the phone told me it’s a common problem and to try again in 24 hours. Has anyone else experienced this? I know it’s not the end of the world, but I’m anxious about side effects and just want to get on and have it so it’s out the way.

I’ve been hunting through social media to find any more info on the specific error message 9907. There are a few references on Twitter and Reddit to people getting it, but depressingly no resolutions. It’s clear that it’s an NHS system error and that 119 call handlers haven’t a clue what’s going on. I’m so frustrated!

At least it’s cured my anxiety over AZ side effects. I’d take anything now, if only I could book it!

I've been trying to book for a covid vaccine for a young adult with learning difficulties.
The NHS booking system keeps saying not eligible .
I've checked with the doctors all is recorded their end . Rang 119 they can not make an appointment as the system cant find the details.
Anyone had any joy booking or any advice please and what to do next .
Thanks in advance

AHurtado · 04/05/2021 15:48

Hi all- just discovered that the GP had the second part of my postcode wrong. I still can't book a vaccine but I am hoping it will update overnight tonight and I will try again tomorrow. Check with GP that all your details are 100% correct.

I have also had this error and have not been able to book a vaccine. I called 119 and the lady said that this was a fault on the website's part. There doesn't seem to be anything that the operators can do, other than log it. This is unacceptable, in my opinion. The website is the only means of booking a vaccine and the government needs to be aware that it is failing a number of people. Thank you to all of you who have posted about this issue - your support and comments have helped immensely.

Sophocles1 · 04/05/2021 21:22

I completely agree, @Rosie492 - I really don’t want to seem entitled and am so grateful that the vaccines are available but I can’t understand why there isn’t a way of getting the error escalated and fixed manually. It’s causing me some anxiety! Really sorry you are facing this problem too.

Mrsfrumble · 04/05/2021 21:28

Welcome to the rather crappy club @Rosie492. I’ve seen a few more mentions of our old friend 9907 on Twitter this evening, and a couple of people have tweeted Matt Hancock. I don’t have an account, but if I did I’d be joining in, just to get the word out that people are being excluded through no fault of their own.

Did you have any joy at the walk-in clinic @Mrsfrumble? Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

cheeesescone · 04/05/2021 23:20

Hi there! I am trying to help my friend who is 48 book his vaccines and like you all, he had error 9907. When trying to search why, this thread was one of the only places I could find it!

When I called 119, the operator said they did not know the reason but said it was a common problem and they could only report it to the NHS Digital Services team. He suggested trying again in 5 working days.

Yesterday, error 9907 was removed. Instead, after filling in his details, it asks him if he is a health/social worker (which he isn't) and when he selects no, it says he is ineligible to use the booking service (even though he is 48) When I called 119 again, they said that the tool that they use to report any errors is broken and to wait 48 hours.

Hopefully you are all having better luck!

Rosie492 · 05/05/2021 08:29

Hmm, so the 119 operators admit that it is the fault of the NHS website and that they don't know when, or even if, the problem will be resolved - whilst also acknowledging that the website is the only means available to us of booking a vaccine. Disgraceful! I am not on Twitter but am pleased to hear someone has tweeted Matt Hancock. Thanks to everyone for your comments and especially to @Mrsfrumble for getting the conversation started. When I googled the issue, this was the only page I found regarding the problem - it was a relief to know there were others with whom I could compare notes etc.!

Rosie492 · 05/05/2021 08:34

Thanks @Sophocles1. All the best to you too.

Duckyneedsaclean · 05/05/2021 08:55

If you're near East London /can travel try calling the number listed on the below website and the team at ExCel should be able to book you in.

Mrsfrumble · 05/05/2021 11:55

I haven’t been able to make it to a walk-in centre yet. I’m worried that they use the same system to access vaccination records and I’d be wasting my time. 119 couldn’t tell me if that would be the case Hmm

Thanks for the tip about the Excel centre @Duckyneedsaclean. I’ll get in touch with them today. This situation is taking up far too much of my headspace!

Vaccineerror · 05/05/2021 12:40

Just registered to say I’ve been having the same error for a week, and have been batted back and forth between 119 and my GP to resolve the issue with no joy.

I’ve tried registering at a different surgery (something I’ve been meaning to do for a while) to see if the transfer of records somehow gives the system a kick.

Thanks for creating and updating this thread - it’s comforting to know I’m not the only one with this frustration.

Tal45 · 05/05/2021 12:51

We had about an hour of trying solidly when it first opened up to over 45's before we managed to get past the various error messages - the system can't cope with the number of people trying to register, why they don't sort it out properly when it happens every time is beyond me. I thikn that's why they're opening up to only one or two years at a time now rather than 5.
I had my first AZ and felt fine, hubby felt quite rough on day two.

Dogmum2017 · 05/05/2021 13:35

Don't post often but I am having the same issue along with my husband. Tried calling the number they give you for the contact centre and cannot actually speak to a person then it cuts you off. Been having this issue for 2 weeks. No idea what to do from here.

DK76TW · 05/05/2021 14:45

Hi - thought I would share my experiences in case they help. I have also repeatedly got error message 9907 and found 119 to be of no help other than say - we have reported to the helpdesk so try again in 48 hours / 5 days / one week / couple of weeks! The two primary reasons why this appears to be happening is either you have recently had a birthday and the system doesn’t recognise the change or you have been deregistered by your GP. The latter is what happened to me - because I have not needed an appointment for several years, my GP decided to deregister me and not tell me. I have spoken to them and completed the re-registration process over the phone. Took about 5 mins as none of my details had changed. They said that the updates would automatically sync with the main NHS system but 24 hours later that doesn’t appear to be case - someone else said to me that their systems are not that quick. I decided to call my local council (Tower Hamlets) vaccine helpline out of desperation and found a very helpful person - I had my NHS number so she could look me up on the system (she said they have more limited access), confirmed my details and booked me in for an appointment at a local vaccine centre this week. She said that I should diarise and call back in 10 weeks and they would also book my second for me. If not already done so, I suggest you try this route as it was the most efficient.

tinkiiev · 05/05/2021 20:45

I have had the same.

NHS website told me I don't exist. Found out that GP deregistered me (apparently because I hadn't been to see them for a while Hmm). Had to go through the rigamarole of re-registering (took ages for me - queue and forms etc). Finally done - apparently....

Except that now the NHS website gives me error code 9907 and 119 tells me to check back in "3 or 4 days".

tinkiiev · 05/05/2021 20:55

Ps @DK76TW thanks for the tip! Have tried emailing my local council vaccination contact point!

Iceniii · 05/05/2021 20:59

My nearest ones are 20 miles away but when I went in today it said I didn't attend the first appointment, but I haven't booked one or received one! I can still book but am waiting for nearer ones.

cheeesescone · 06/05/2021 12:29

Called 119 again. The call handler I spoke to said that they had found out the reason for 9907 - it can be that you haven't visited your GP for a long time or if you are changing GP or registering at a new GP so they don't have an up-to-date record set in their system. Does that sound like your situations?

I told them about my friend's new problem (asks if he is a social/health worker, then he is ineligible for vaccine even though 48) and they said they would report it as a fault and estimate it to be resolved 24 hours to 2 weeks...hopefully...

Sophocles1 · 06/05/2021 13:00

Thanks @cheeesescone! I did have a problem signing up for the NHS app as it didn’t automatically link me to my GP surgery and I had to be manually verified using my passport, so I suspect it is something to do with that - but my GP records are all in order on their face so there is no obvious way to fix it absent manual verification.

I hope your friend manages to get this sorted - not very reassuring to be told to wait 2 weeks on the off-chance that the problem fixes itself!

Mrsfrumble · 06/05/2021 17:42

So, I finally managed to get sorted! No thanks to the NHS booking system though.
I followed the advice of the wonderful @Duckyneedsaclean (thank you so much Ducky!) and contacted the Nightingale Vaccination centre at the ExCel centre who were able to book me in immediately with no problem at all Confused. Then the GP surgery got back to me to confirm that there’s no reason at all at their end why my records wouldn’t be accessible, and sent me a link to book directly through their system.

I’ve decided to go with the Nightingale as they can fit me in tomorrow morning. It’s a bit of a trek, but I get to ride on the DLR which is always interesting.

I really, really hope everyone who’s still struggling manages to book soon. It’s infuriating to see all the different (nonsense) reasons 119 are giving (especially the “not been to the GP recently enough; some thanks for not burdening the NHS!)

My son has severe SEN and is 17. When I tried to book his online it said that I.couldnt book it as had to be done at the drs, a few weeks later the drs rang to offer him an appointment tent. Might be worth ringing their dr to see if can book there
Duckyneedsaclean · 06/05/2021 22:37

Ah brilliant @Mrsfrumble! They're a great team Grin
