Just got an Apple Watch and it’s telling me my cardio fitness is low (19). Cheer me up and tell me I’m not the only one😁

OP posts:
Kracken · 12/04/2021 16:38

Oh wow, never knew about this and just checked. My fitness age is 75. I am 41. Thank you mumsnet for opening my eyes! I have booked a trial outdoor bootcamp class for tomorrow Smile

Soothes · 12/04/2021 17:07

I'm 50. After I had Covid in September it went down to 44, it was shocking to realise how much it had affected me despite symptoms that were "just a cold". It's now 53 although none of these gadgets measure it accurately

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 12/04/2021 17:13

Mine is 37.4 (high). I’m 57 and do quite a bit of exercise of all kinds.

I’m 51. Mine is 34.5. Apparently I’ve dropped from 40+

I run loads and walk everywhere and have a physical job.

Jumpers268 · 12/04/2021 17:22

I never knew this! Just checked mine and it's 34-38 (average to good - Fitbit). I knew my RHR had come down since I'd started stepping 3 weeks ago and ramping up my steps per day, but I'm pleasantly surprised by that 😂.

HelenHywater · 12/04/2021 17:25

Mine is 52.6 . It's gone down from 54 recently.

I'm 50. In super human, elite olympic athlete category

emmathedilemma · 12/04/2021 17:34

Age 44, Vo2 max of 43 and fitness age of 20 on Garmin. It's probably lower than it should be due to the gyms having been closed for so long! To be fair, it's also a lot better than when i was 20!

SomeKindOfFloppyWeirdo · 12/04/2021 17:49

Oh woop. Mine is 16.9 Grin
I do have inappropriate sinus tachycardia and a host of other issues, which is either throwing off the reading, or the reason why I’m so unfit. V envious of all of you in the 40s/50s ( and even in the 20s to be honest!)

Dread to think what my fitness age is.
Probably about 120 years old.

lljkk · 12/04/2021 18:20

Don't feel bad OP.
I am slow & weak & always have been, regardless of my Fitbit numbers.

Fitbit puts me in the "excellent" group. 38. Whatever that means.
Is that supposed to be a vo2max estimate?

I had proper vo2max test done about 2 yrs ago, and the Fitbit one might be about same as real estimate then so would be too high now.
Have been feeling quite breathless this week (possible cracked rib)
But can believe heart is pretty good.

Itstheprinciple · 12/04/2021 18:26

How do I find this using fit bit please?

Jumpers268 · 12/04/2021 18:31

@Itstheprinciple click on your heart rate on the app and then swipe right at the top 😊.

H1978 · 12/04/2021 19:12

Mine is 24.5, I’m clearly very unfit. 😳

CindersCatsSister · 12/04/2021 19:21

44.7 for me, aged 45. I run a bit but that’s it.

Itstheprinciple · 12/04/2021 19:22

Thank you. I am between average and good for a woman my age.

fellrunner85 · 12/04/2021 19:31

I'm some sort of super-elite athlete according to Vo2 max and fitness age. Which is bollocks of course, when half the time I can't even win my local parkrun Grin

emmathedilemma · 12/04/2021 19:40

It's a run not a race @fellrunner85 🤣🤣

ToooOldForThis · 12/04/2021 19:42

Do you need an apple watch or fitbit to check this? I got a Samsung galaxy active watch free with my phone,it's so bloody complicated I can barely tell the time on it!

folloyourarro · 12/04/2021 19:47

36 (I'm 33) I do fuck all exercise other than trying to go for a walk a few times a week so not sure how I've earned an above average score.

Cactus1982 · 12/04/2021 19:49

I can’t find this on my Apple Watch anywhere?

SomeKindOfFloppyWeirdo · 12/04/2021 20:15

I have to go into my “Health” app in the iPhone to see it - I don’t think you can see it on the watch itself, although the watch will link the data from when you exercise and send it to the Health app on your phone.

It’s under the “heart” category, and you can set it to show as one of your favourites.

fellrunner85 · 12/04/2021 20:23

Oops yeah, soz @emmathedilemma!!
(Though I think we all know its a race when there's 400m to go and you're neck and neck...!!) Grin

oh for sure, there's positions and a stopwatch and that kid will NOT outsprint me to the finish......oh wait.....
MrsJBaptiste · 13/04/2021 11:05

How does a Fitbit work this out? Does it base your score on your average daily/weekly exercise?

I’m 45 and mine is excellent apparently (39-43) Halo

I do a lot of power walking/running and am back at the gym as of last night (!) so I am quite fit but I’ve no idea how it’s worked out so if it is actually right or not!

Spudlet · 13/04/2021 11:16

Garmin says my Vo2 max is 38, which is apparently good for a woman of my age. However I take that with a large pinch of salt because, you know, it’s a watch rather than a medical professional Grin

It is absolutely not a race it’s totally a race and I’m going to have that kid 😳😂
