Why are Oreos so popular?

ODFOx · 09/04/2021 18:00

I don't get it.
They are less chocolatey than bourbons.
They are more expensive than bourbons.
Yet they get mushed into ice cream, smashed into slushies, added to sundaes and loads of desserts. But they just aren't that nice are they?
Or are they? What is it about them that makes them so popular?

@pinkpeoniesplease

We buy them because they're vegan...
Oreos aren't suitable for vegans

BurbageBrook · 09/04/2021 21:52

They taste like cardboard.

LookAChicken · 09/04/2021 21:57

Their popularity is as inexplicable as that of Hershey chocolate.

Bloodypunkrockers · 09/04/2021 22:05

Horrible. Hype and marketing

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/04/2021 22:16

I was literally bitterly disappointed when I tried them. They forgot to put sugar in them.

Worriesome · 09/04/2021 22:16

@ODFOx I recommend the chocolate enrobed Oreos - try them and get back to us

Itsallhere · 09/04/2021 22:18

@VodselForDinner

Can you really not fathom that people have different tastes to you?

I’m not a fan of Oreos, but understand that others like them.

It’s not difficult.

I cannot stand them. They are gritty and gross. I'm sure that's why my kids like them and want them to be bought, it is guaranteed that I won't eat them all!

MajesticWhine · 09/04/2021 22:30

Oreos are a big letdown. I'm not a biscuit person but bourbons are undoubtedly better.

maz210 · 09/04/2021 22:32

Does anyone know where you can buy peanut butter Oreos? Like you, OP, I'm not particularly fussed about them but my daughter is a huge fan.

thenameshastings · 09/04/2021 22:35

I like the Aldi own-brand ones (or ‘poor-eos as we call them) they have more cream and substance

Hm2020 · 09/04/2021 22:40

I don’t get it either also they’re aloud for packed lunch in my sons school but nothing else with chocolate is?

😍 love it, I'm taking that nickname for the Lidl dupes also!

fussychica · 09/04/2021 22:57

Vile, just vile.

Spottysausagedogs · 09/04/2021 23:26

They taste so much nicer in the US, I assume the ingredients that make them so yummy over there are banned in the uk. I was sorely disappointed after having them over there a good few years back then they started to make an appearance in the supermarkets here, not the same product at all. Although the double stuff brownie ones are an improvement.

fizbosshoes · 09/04/2021 23:28

YANBU
.but I dislike bourbons as well.
Both are a waste of calories, and neither are properly chocolatey.

fizbosshoes · 09/04/2021 23:31

Dd asked me to get some lady gaga oreos the other day. I did...but the only thing different about them was the packet. What's that all about?Confused

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 09/04/2021 23:39

God knows. They are the work of Satan. 😈

PferdeMerde · 09/04/2021 23:41

They’re disgusting. American companies know how to sell their crap to people though.

idontlikealdi · 09/04/2021 23:42

They're horrid. Like Hershey's.

I was going to say I love them but then I realised I only ever eat the filling and throw away the actual biscuits as I don’t like them, but the Oreo cream is amazing!

HotPenguin · 09/04/2021 23:59

They're yucky, I'm not a big fan of bourbons either. Chocolate hobnobs for me please.

RightOnTheEdge · 10/04/2021 00:28

I quite like them but don't love them to eat normally but Haagen Dazs cookies and cream is delicious and so are Oreo milkshakes. I don't know why.

I hate Bourbons though, they are the worst biscuit.

BluTangClan · 10/04/2021 00:35

I used to like them until someone on here pointed out they just taste like chemicals rather than any kind of chocolateyness. I realised they were right and haven't eaten one since.
