I recently read a book with such a good twist it absolutely floored me. I usually see them coming but this time it absolutely blew my mind.

But now I am in the predicament that my next new book may disappoint so I'm asking for recommendations please.
I love psychological thrillers, mystery, crime and also dystopian and some teen lit.

I really really want something to shock and surprise me again.
Looking forward to perusing suggestions

Thank you for an excellent thread Op.

My recommendation would be The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.

@ CaviarAndCigarettes
I really loved The Last Day Of Rabbit Hayes. The sequel was released last July - Below The Big Blue Sky.
I have it on my kindle but haven’t got round to reading it yet.

Tell the wolves I'm back by Carol Rifka Brunt, I picked it up in Poundland and it is amazingly good. It's a family story of love, art , life and death.

@fitflop oh my gosh I didn't know there was a sequel!

That book still gives me goosebumps. I'll definitely buy the sequel

The Guest List by Lucy Foley. I have read a lot of the books mentioned here and enjoyed them all, so potentially similar tastes. The Guest List was just brilliant- I read it in one day I was so hooked (and it’s not short) Most gripping novel I’ve read for a long time.

Anything by Tana French or Liz Nugent
