The most random things you watch on YouTube

Like so many I do enjoy a good cat video and things like drone footage of beautiful places I don't know when I'll be able to visit.

Lately I've got sucked into watching random mundane vlogs of people walking round their towns. There seem to be quite a few doing this for Blackpool in particular, all going round the same streets every day but the video quality and narrative varies. (Is it some sort of local arts sponsored thing?) I don't know why I've ended up watching these but I keep doing so. There's one elderly sounding man in particular who seems to find joy in the little things such as sunshine over the Irish sea and that's quite charming in a way.

I also love watching things like old TV idents, announcers, snippets of old news, etc. particularly regional.

@BoozeBegone it's Bernadette Banner, she's very good.

cookiecreampie · 01/04/2021 17:45

I watch a lot of psychic channeling videos, urban explorers and Mr Nightmare. Also started watching someone called Jaden Sprinz off TikTok cos he is just so damn sexy.

Isababybel · 01/04/2021 18:40

1970s public information films. My favourite one is about placing a rug on a polished floor, you might as well set a man trap..

BobbinThreadbare123 · 01/04/2021 19:54

The blackhead zapping vids.
ASMR
Bunnings DIY videos - it's like Australian B&Q and they show you how to do jobs. I've found it very handy (!) and it's taught me loads.

Cactus1982 · 01/04/2021 20:03

Oooh I watch the Blackpool ones as well OP. I’ve no idea why as I fucking hate Blackpool lol.

A few years ago I went through a phase of watching church bell ringers.

Hm2020 · 01/04/2021 21:38

I also watch the best ever food show Going to different countries and trying different street foods also watch lots of short documentary’s about japan, Different school dinners around the world... this thread is great for ideas of what to watch.

HeronLanyon · 02/04/2021 06:47

This thread is an absolute disaster given my rather unproductive lockdown year and that I now have only weeks peer to - Learn a language, sort out complicated tax situation once and for all, get piano back up to reasonable standard, paint kitchen and sitting room, progress a building project, get fit etc.
I do work ft but ffs am I alone in kind of needing a lockdown extension ?
And now all of these fantastic suggestions which have also triggered other random ideas of stuff to look at.
You tube - love it/hate it.

Sparklingbrook · 02/04/2021 08:11

I went through a phase of looking at webcam footage of things like Donkey sanctuaries. Blush

But I do love a relaxing watch of the live feed of Abbey Road Crossing. Watching people messing about on a zebra crossing annoying motorists never gets old. Grin

HeronLanyon · 02/04/2021 09:37

Just watched Paul McCartney crossing it recently. Great start to the day. What silly stupid important meaningful fun.

Makeuplover · 02/04/2021 11:05

@BoozeBegone It is a channel called glamour.

Makeuplover · 02/04/2021 11:11

Strictly Come Dancing/DWTS , 1000 lb sisters , Man who talks about music (think is called Roomie) , Camilla Dallerup (self care and meditation) , Clutterbug (decluttering) People’s career routines (think is called Allure Work It)

FindingMeno · 02/04/2021 11:12

I've been happily sitting and watching Russian apartment tours this morning.

JoeExoticandtheTigers · 02/04/2021 11:24

@didireallyjustsaythat yep!!!! me too!!! I love her! I look forward to Mondays now!!
Christina Randall is good too.

Ask a mortician, she's wonderful! She has a funeral home in LA and anwsers questons about death you feel too stupid to ask!

knackeredcat · 02/04/2021 11:26

How could I forget Public Information Films, although I did get the Charley Says DVDs when they came out.

I've been listening to old Radio 1 jingles from the 80s on a channel called Radio Rewind. If I find old top 40s I'll get nothing done today Grin

Tiny apartment tours

FindingMeno · 02/04/2021 12:51

I also love one called Castle Hill Garden. He's an older gentleman with the most immaculate garden and it makes me feel like everything is right with the world.

stressbandit · 03/04/2021 12:33

@Isababybel Have you ever seen the train and pylon ones oh my god. Horrific!

amusedbush · 03/04/2021 13:12

I like videos of people silently walking around New York, mostly because it's my favourite city and I have no idea when I'll get back there. On the massive 4K TV (that DH insisted we get) it almost feels like I'm there Grin

Videos of dogs being groomed are really soothing.

I also like watching Brad Mondo react to people cutting/bleaching their own hair.

I found a TikTok channel of a woman who cleans and restores old gravestones, which is satisfying and I like the ASMR of the cleaning sounds.

Arbadacarba · 03/04/2021 13:17

Network rail training videos. I could tell you lots of ways to avoid a SPAD (but IRL I can't even drive a car, let alone a train).

I'm a fellow TV ident fan, OP - I also like watching ITV Schools continuties from the 70s.

expectopelargonium · 03/04/2021 13:20

Just lately I've been spending an inordinate amount of time watching youtube clips of erupting volcanoes. The nocturnal ones of lava flows are particularly mesmerising.

I started by watching the recent Icelandic eruption on live stream and it's gone on from there. Grin

ChinookPilotsGoVertical · 03/04/2021 13:25

@Sparklingbrook,
Do you mean the Eclectic Beard guy with the reaction videos? I love that guy's stuff.

Mysterian · 03/04/2021 16:22

@ChinookPilotsGoVertical
I watch him. He's a great laugher and it seems to add something.

This is the Dirty Names sketch by Rowan Atkinson he really loved.
