What's your Chinese order?

Usually we go for lemon chicken and crispy chilli beef. What's your order? I really fancy Chinese take away for dinner tonight. I think I might go for a few starters instead of a main- hot and sour soup, and yuk sung.

We tend to vary each time. Our last visit was prawn toast, A fried rice main course. A duck with satay sauce and a duck with pork. They included a really nice prawn noodle dish in our order that they are considering adding to the menu. We normally have loads of leftovers for the next day.

Oh I want Chinese takeaway now! Though I went to the local Asian supermarket last week so I have lots of different gyozas and dim sum in the freezer.
I know what I’m having tonight.

Salt & pepper squid, broccoli in garlic sauce, pakchoi in oyster sauce and egg fried rice...

Gingerkittykat · 27/03/2021 18:22

Crispy chilli beef (in chilli sauce) is my favourite.
I also love king prawns with pineapple with ginger.
Hot and sour soup.
Tom Yum soup.
Egg fu yung, but I resent buying it since it is essentially a posh omelette.
Crispy seaweed.
Prawn toast.

Unfortunately I can't have them all at one sitting!

Most Chinese takeaway food is a far cry from what you'll get in China. Not so much now, but historically the vast majority of Chinese in the UK came from the Canton area (Hong Kong and surrounds). Different areas in China have quite distinctive cooking styles. Personally Cantonese food isn't my favourite so so the poor copies that you get in UK takeaways are really unappealing. In fact for years I thought I didn't like Chinese food at all, which is ridiculous.

If you're lucky enough to have a Chinese which does food from different regions (and I don't just mean they have a Szechuan section on the menu) I'd really recommend exploring it.

On last thing. Tom Yum is Thai.
