What's your Chinese order?

hermionieweasley · 25/03/2021 17:21

Usually we go for lemon chicken and crispy chilli beef. What's your order? I really fancy Chinese take away for dinner tonight. I think I might go for a few starters instead of a main- hot and sour soup, and yuk sung.

@FruitLoopzz ahh I could just eat that!

MrsMaryClausFace · 25/03/2021 19:14

Where I used to live did deep fried soft shell crab. My God it was AMAZING. Then all of a sudden they never had it in stock so I always had the salt and pepper squid.

Plus chicken fried rice, Chinese chips, crispy seaweed and usually a beef or vegetable dish for "balance" Grin

ToadsThePeanutButterSnob · 25/03/2021 19:33

Salt and pepper tofu, chips and either mock duck with black bean sauce or mock duck vermicelli.

Really craving a Chinese now.

@Ragwort

Asda do them, well they do in Liverpool anyway but might be worth looking.

They are nearly as nice.

hermionieweasley · 25/03/2021 20:36

I'm surprised by how many people ordering tofu from Chinese, never crossed my mind to order it but will do next time now!

We went for salt and pepper ribs, salt and chilli chips, pork satay, lemon chicken and hot and sour soup. Really delicious!

@CovidCorvid

Does anyone know what would be good with salt and pepper shredded chicken!?

We have a new local chinese and I like the sound of this. I’ve googled and in internet photos it doesn’t seem like it comes with a sauce? So if it’s just dry, battered chicken what should I have with it? Do I get a separate sauce?

I have mine with Singapore noodles (no prawns) and Blue Dragon sweet chilli sauce over the top. Delish
Eg2016 · 25/03/2021 20:50

Satay is the best thing ever, I've tried so many recipes trying to get it like the chinese, it never turns out anything like it! Also love chicken fried rice, salt and pepper chips, spring rolls and if we're being really greedy crispy duck as well. Pleased you enjoyed it Smile

Titsywoo · 25/03/2021 20:53

Salt and pepper chicken wings
Special fried rice
Special chow mein
BBQ sauce to drench the rice in (the sort you have on spare ribs not like Heinz!)

I used to have spare ribs but I loved the chicken wings after trying them a few months ago so always order them now.

NotMyCircusNotMyProblem · 25/03/2021 20:59

Ragwort · 27/03/2021 09:15

Queen thanks for the tip, I will head to Asda Smile

MummytoCSJH · 27/03/2021 12:49

If I'm feeling ill I get Chicken and sweetcorn soup and wontons from the Chinese.

Normal order is (along with the C&S soup and wontons) seaweed, beef and broccoli in oyster sauce (OR king prawn curry but have to really fancy it) with salt and pepper chips, egg fried rice and plain chow mein noodles. I share with DS 6 who also gets prawn toast (triangle toast as he calls them) and we have the leftovers for breakfast Grin

Also interested in won ton soup but does it make the wontons soggy? Or are they not the same as the crispy wontons but more like dumplings? I always get steamed dumplings from Thai restaurants!

CamborneMaid · 27/03/2021 13:38

Prawn crackers.
Chicken & sweetcorn soup.
Singapore fried rice with a curry sauce.
Sweet & Sour Chicken Hong Kong style with chips.
Beef in black bean sauce with beansprouts & egg fried rice.
