The best way to survive is to have a terminal brain tumour.
If you have a minor illness and make medium-term plans you're a goner.
Data protection, hmm what do those words mean?

Everybody needs a whips and an anasatamosis.

StealthPolarBear · 24/03/2021 20:00

Depressing one. Despite the episode I'm watching being under a female chief of surgery, the subtitles have just told me some speech was by a 'male nurse'.

Foreign medics are basically Dr Frankenstein (mild spoiler for later seasons so I won't go into detail, but hello xenophobia).

If you have a hot doctor, s/he will share an eye-watering amount of personal detail with you within minutes of meeting you, and you will find this totally appropriate and not at all self-centred.

I've learned masses from Grey's/ER etc., though. When my DD was born she was quite ill; the doctor who treated her thought DP and I were doctors because we were familiar with spinal taps and amoxycillin.

I'm wfh and have had greys on in the background during the day. So good and weirdly comforting for me 🙈

HaroldandGeorge · 24/03/2021 21:24

In Greys world, you can’t go in the elevator without your ex, current bf/gf or love rival being in there too.

I’ve been rewatching greys during lockdown, I’ve got to season 6, which follows on from George dying. It has made me realise how much better these episodes were compared to now. I struggle to name any characters I actually like now (even Mer is very annoying) but in the early days there were lots of great characters (George, Lexie, Izzie, Cristina).

Two people need a liver transplant, one liver. Why couldn't they split it?

I miss Shonda era Greys, it’s so boring now.

StealthPolarBear · 24/03/2021 22:37

Shonda?

Timeisavirtue · 24/03/2021 22:54

Personally I think you’d learn more from watching ER 😂 greys don’t hold a candle to ER 😊

StealthPolarBear · 24/03/2021 22:58

OK I thought shonda seemed familiar, producer right? When did she stop?

It's still a Shondaland show but she's not the show runner anymore, iirc.

You can really see the difference in the later series, the plots are still the same but the newer characters are quite flat. I still watch it though.

Quick question, when someone who isn't part of the procedure walks into an or they often hold the mask up above their face - why, why not just put it on?
I did wonder if it was to signal and remind them and others that they hadnt scrubbed in, in case they ended up getting involved when they shouldn't, but no, sometimes they do wear them, but often they just hold it up.

OP posts:
HaroldandGeorge · 29/03/2021 14:39

I always presumed it was to show that they were walking in for a quick chat/reprimand and hadn’t had time to scrub in properly. The fact that they haven’t even put the mask on means it was a quick response/decision maybe.

Crankley · 29/03/2021 16:24

Bailey didn't have 24 hour childcare, she just dumped her baby on any intern who happened to be standing in the vicinity.

If you have hallucinations about a patient who you loved but accidentally killed and it resulted in hot, all night sex with the dead patient, you have a bran tumour. If the dead patient repeatedly says 'I'm here for YOU' it means you're going to die.

Crankley · 29/03/2021 16:25

brain not bran grrr

Papergirl1968 · 29/03/2021 21:21

What channel is the new series - 16? 17? I've lost count - going to be on then? Not Sky Witness any more?

Nsws2015 · 30/03/2021 11:11

You can jump into bed with another hours/days after breaking up with someone....well except meredith. I've been binging since before Xmas and am on season 16 and it just baffles me how they jump from relationship to relationship like they're teenagers!!!!

Totally get the Avery thing, he's just 😍😍😍😍 loving de luca too.....not loving the spoiler I saw on my Google search engine!!!!!!!!! My heart ultimately belongs to Alex though ❤

I've never cried so much at a series before I have to say!!

HaroldandGeorge · 30/03/2021 11:18

I’ve never really understood the Alex love. Yes, he can be incredibly loyal but the way he speaks to people, especially in the early series is pure nastiness and bullying. Poor George never stood a chance with him and his bedside manner at times is awful. Yes, he got better as the seasons went on, but that side of his character always stopped me from seeing him as a heart throb! I thought George, on the other hand, was just adorable. And of course, I was Team McDreamy. I only liked McSteamy once he mellowed with Lexie. I guess I just don’t like the bad boys lol.

Purplelion · 30/03/2021 16:20

You are forgiven for anything! Kill a patient, sleep with your best friends wife, there seems to be nothing that isn’t quickly forgotten

HaroldandGeorge · 30/03/2021 17:07

I hate confrontation and one nasty comment towards me and that person is forever off my Xmas card list! Yet, on greys, they speak to each other like shit, yell at their boss and each other, make cutting, nasty remarks but no one gets fired and they're the best of friends again within the episode!

Nsws2015 · 31/03/2021 07:20

Yeah Alex was an ass in the beginning, but I I think his back story with his mum kinda explained why, it didn't justify the way he spoke at times and in the beginning I didn't like him so much, but as he grew, particularly when he went into peads I softened and now I dread what I know is coming up lol. George was adorable and I did break my heart when I realised it was him in the bed, both me and my 14 year old sobbed like absolute babies then. Mcdreamy was a bit meh, pretty hair but just meh, mcsteamy was brilliant, I laughed at him so much, and oh my when he had no shirt on!!! but then i didn't cry when he died which was odd for me given how much I've cried at the series lol. I think the episode confused me and I kept thinking it's not this one where he dies...then he did and I was like, oh OK. Mcdreamys death did upset me more than I expected for saying I wasn't that bothered by him.
