Things I've learned from watching Greys Anatomy

The best way to survive is to have a terminal brain tumour.
If you have a minor illness and make medium-term plans you're a goner.
Data protection, hmm what do those words mean?

Greys Anatomy taught me that there is a higher power because only something divine could have created Jackson Avery

jerometheturnipking · 23/03/2021 21:16

I learned it’s completely normal to have random half siblings dotted about all over the place, and to find out about these through your place of work.

Definitely still on Amazon - I’m watching it now! Not sure what series it goes up to though.

MichelleofzeResistance · 23/03/2021 21:17

If you work there and you're female you must have the Greys Anatomy Haircut. I wonder about some insane hairdresser that mugs them in the carpark on the way in.

And then you do surgery and see patients with your long hair swishing about as if you've never heard of cross infection. Tis good.

drumst1ck · 23/03/2021 21:25

15 seasons up on Disney plus if anyone is looking for somewhere to watch it!

BelleHathor · 23/03/2021 21:27

Adding Mc- to the beginning of a nickname makes someone so much hotter McDreamy and McSteamy.
Every woman needs a "Twisted Sister" Yang & Grey 4 life.

If you’re a surgeon who happens to be in the area, you’re allowed to just rock up at a hospital you don’t work at and get stuck into some operating.

@MrsPatrickDempsey

Just visiting to see if anything is said about my husband......
Isn't he just the best!
ItsTheKissing · 24/03/2021 10:17

My whole lockdown has been dedicated to watching series 0-15...... I love it! Dangerous place to work though 🤣

Whatwouldscullydo · 24/03/2021 10:31

That it doesn't matter how sick someone is or how imminent their death is, there is always time for a monologue or a non medical related argument

Whatwouldscullydo · 24/03/2021 10:34

Oh and if you are a woman working there you must be bisexual. I'm guessing so if they run out of blokes there's always options for the on call room action. Cos eveb if you have pined for the same bloke for 15 years, you will still name your baby after your first love depute never mentioning her her over a decade.

MichelleofzeResistance · 24/03/2021 11:08

And every relationship is time limited: no one's allowed to go over the set time, (come in 97, your time is up) and at regular intervals everyone swaps partners and starts again.

And surgeons' hands.... go wrong constantly, I've had more reliable photocopiers, and the surgery to fix it always buggers up.

Despite everyone basically "owning" everyone else. Doesn't matter who dumped who, how long they have been split for, or how many partners since, you cant date anyones ex without ridiculous amounts of drama.

dreamingbohemian · 24/03/2021 11:17

I learned there's a reason why nobody reenacts World War II

Drbrowns · 24/03/2021 11:25

Does anyone know when season 16 is coming to either prime or Disney?

isthismylifenow · 24/03/2021 11:38

I haven't watched Greys, but from my experience of New Amsterdam and Offspring.. doctors spend an awful lot of time on the rooftop. That is where all the decisions are made and love affairs start.

If you cannot find a doctor, check the rooftop.

Ivebeeninlockdowntoolong · 24/03/2021 11:50

I'm near the end of Season 2. So far what I've learned is that no one is capable of having a decent romantic relationship. All the cast have partners who flounce off, have issues but won't talk about them and stony silences in lifts are obligatory.

Ah yes they do hit golf balls off there actually.

@Thedutchessofhastings

Well despite no medical training whatsoever, I feel that I could have a good stab (excuse the pun) at most surgical procedures. I’m also now an excellent diagnostition - can’t quite rival Sean Murphy on that scale though. (Now working my way through the Good Doctor!)
Haha, yes - years of binging ER and I feel I could adequately run and A&E department.

I think ER was what led me to become a Dr!

dotdashdashdash · 24/03/2021 12:13

I work in a hospital and twins were conceived in our critical care on call room.

YOU HAVE AN ON CALL ROOM?!? With a bed?!? OMG I want to work in your hospital. I take a sleeping bag and roll mat and try and sleep in the office on the ward and hope no-one wants to write up notes

TheDoctorDances · 24/03/2021 12:31

A baby can be born at 24 weeks and leave hospital a few weeks later looking like a perfectly normal healthy newborn.

Twilightstarbright · 24/03/2021 12:39

God I love Grey's Anatomy.

Whatwouldscullydo · 24/03/2021 13:19

A baby can be born at 24 weeks and leave hospital a few weeks later looking like a perfectly normal healthy newborn

Or be born the size of a 6 month old

maybemu · 24/03/2021 13:28

@StealthPolarBear

Having sex is only appropriate in an un locked on call room

To be fair, that's not just Gray's. We didn't have a lot of babies in our family so when my friend's started having these tiny (aka perfectly normal sized newborns who were NOT 6 months old) I really freaked out. See also American 'High School' students, average age 37.
