I never learnt BODMAS or any variant of it, so for me the answer to that sum is 28. To arrive at the answer 10, the sum would have to be written the other way round.

Type the sum into a calculator...

Not even bothering to read 37 pages (surely in nearly 1000 replies, most possible answers will have been given! ) but I think it's 35. Look at the chocolate chips.

where/what are you multiplying first?

3 + 2+ (2 x 10 )= 25

why not

(2 + 1 + 1) x 7

There's only one number associated with the x7.

If it was meant to be 'do all the additions first' then multiply then it would need brackets ie (2+1+1)x7
