@Montsti

Oh yes I see now...hadn’t seen the time on the clock
Oh!

It's a clock! I couldn't see it properly (my eyesight is less than 20/20)

Thank you - also banana numbers. I was so busy counting chocolate chips I missed the bananas.

In that case I revise my answer to 11

3 + 2 + 2 x 10 answer is 70

It’s not 14, 28 or 12.

ShipOfTheseus · 20/03/2021 17:05

Or 11, I mean.

Oh. bollox - just noticed the multiplication sign - I wondered why everyone was shouting about BODMAS.

As you were . . .

BluebellsareBlue · 20/03/2021 17:06

It's 1, count the chocolate chips in the cookies and the amount of bananas and then the clock isn't at three as in the second line, it's at 2. So the answer is 11

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/03/2021 17:07

Sorry - 10.

Navigationcentral · 20/03/2021 17:07

It’s 14 with BODMAS surely

Ginsodden · 20/03/2021 17:07

No wait, 11

DadDadDad · 20/03/2021 17:07

@SchadenfreudePersonified, @Ironmanrocks, @whatsleep, @krieger:

The answer accepted by the OP is that it should be:

2 + 1 + 1 x 7 = 10

28?

"Well your teacher was teaching you incorrect mathematics.

Also, if you read and understand that article it’s not about binning the (correct) order of operations being used, it’s about binning the use of the acronym as people who don’t understand it properly use it incorrectly.

Bloody hell, calm down.

I do understand the article thank you & I also remember doing additions & subtractions left to right and multiplication & division left to right.

Not all combined though.

Clock is 2 o'clock ( others show 3 o'clock)
Single banana=1
Cookies at the top have 10 raisins but the one at the bottom only has 7

So 2+1+1 x7=

BODMAS means use multiplication first so:

2+1+(1x7)
1x7=7 +2+1=10

Mmn654123 · 20/03/2021 17:11

Typo - 70

AxCap · 20/03/2021 17:12

Iwillgotothegym · 20/03/2021 17:12

OK - I see where I went wrong now - went left to right (and not counting bananas properly) not bodmas.

Sorry HowManyToes. Sad

I think it might be good for me to do some more basic maths brush up (I know it doesn’t look like it but I got an A in GCSE many years ago. (My uncle who was a mathematician would have been horrified as well.)
