How may times have you been included in a census and is yours very different from 2011?

This will be my 6th! I'm nowhere near 60 though. I just squeezed onto the 1971 census.

Ours will be very different this time. A different address with two less of us living here.

OP posts:

PurBal · 11/03/2021 19:41

Very very different this time. Married and changed my name. Living in a different location.

peak2021 · 11/03/2021 20:06

This is the only time I will have completed a second time in the same house. I cannot remember the last time though, but I do remember filling in the 1981 one on behalf of my family as living at home then.

MrsDThomas · 11/03/2021 21:02

This will be my 5th.
Different address. Thats all really

Im waiting to see my grandmothers on the 1921 census. To me its exciting!

Lochroy · 11/03/2021 21:12

Interesting... each of mine are very different

1981: abroad, so not applicable
1991: at boarding school, parents still abroad. I remember it being discussed in geography lessons. Pity the poor bugger that had to fill in the return for 400 boarders. How was that done?
2001: I was at uni but it might have been the Easter holidays so either recorded as in halls or at my parents (by now in the UK)
2011: Living on my own in London
2011: Married with two DC and living in commutersville

Which begs the question, where will I be in ten years time? I'm hoping to have changed jobs and be living more rurally.

YouAreYourBestThing · 11/03/2021 21:29

2011 and 2001, I was living overseas so didn't complete it.

1991, still married to husband number 1, with baby number 2 on the way.

1981 I was 17 and living with my parents.

This time, old, divorced from number 2, no kids at home...very different from all the others! First time I've done it by myself, first time online, first time as a divorced woman..lots of 'firsts' 😱

TwoZeroTwoZero · 11/03/2021 21:32

2001 I lived at home and was a student.

2011 I lived with my boyfriend (now husband), I was on maternity leave but we had no children. We both worked full-time.

2021 we've moved house, we're married and we have 2 dc. Dh doesn't work or study at the mo (though that will change next year all being well) and I'm part-time in the same job as before.

lurker101 · 11/03/2021 21:34

This is my first one as an adult. Quite excited to fill it in actually as our own “household”😂

MissisBee · 11/03/2021 21:42

1991 - child at home with parents and sibling
2001 - teenager at home with parents and sibling
2011 - living with fiancé
2021 - same house, fiancé now husband, 2 DC

RatherLostPenguins · 11/03/2021 21:48

91 - child at home with parents
01 - adult but still living with parents while at uni
11 - living with ex, 2 kids
22 - we'll find out next year (in Scotland) but if it's the same as now then new name, new husband and still 2 kids

I've been wondering about the fact ours is delayed to next year, if someone moved from here to England (or other countries but I don't know what's going on elsewhere with the census date-wise) after theirs was done but before ours is done next year then I take it they'd completely vanish from this census and only show up again in 10 years' time (as long as they were still alive)?

Petitmum · 11/03/2021 21:53

1971 - Family home, two parents, one siblings
1981 - Family home, two parents, one sibling
1991 - Second Marital home, me and exdh
2001 - Fifth Marital home, me and exdh

2011 - New Marital home, me dh 2 dc
2021 - Second marital home, dh, 2 dc

First DH was a police officer and we moved around with his job!

BackforGood · 11/03/2021 22:24

I've done mine, and am quite surprised how quick and simple it is. I think it would be interesting to collect lots more information - even if there were 'opt in' additional information questions.

I've just been involved in some grant applications, where a large factor was the IMD of the postcodes - as they are taken from 10 yr old census information it is quite interesting how much some areas have changed.
Plus of course it is fascinating social history being recorded. I think it is a shame that more information isn't requested.

Mally2020 · 11/03/2021 23:50

01 - I was three
11- I was 12/13
21-now living in london 22

garlictwist · 12/03/2021 06:26

Shit, I've done mine. Didn't realise you were supposed to do it on a certain day. Hopefully no one will die between now and then.

WeatherwaxLives · 12/03/2021 06:43

@Deathraystare I don't think I understand your question, but this might help...

If you're in a seperate unit, with seperate identifiers (flat 6 / room B / whatever) then that's the address you put in your form - room B, tower block, main road, Town.

If you're both in the same flat / room as residents then you both go on the form. If you're both in the same flat/room and one is a visitor there is a visitor section on the form.

The data is a snapshot of who is where, overnight, on a specific date.

Fifthtimelucky · 12/03/2021 07:30

1961: assuming it was on 21 March, I was a newborn and would have spent the night in hospital.
1971: living with parents and siblings
1981: I was a student and where I would have been (home or uni accommodation) would have depended on timing of Easter holidays.
1991: living in flat-share with a friend
2001: living with husband and two children in the house we are in now
2011: ditto
2021: ditto, but children will count as 'visitors' because they came here for Christmas and haven't left yet.

Donatella · 12/03/2021 07:37

1981 would be the first one I was on, as a toddler, then we were living abroad for 1991 (assuming it was the same time of year, we moved back in August that year). I remember filling in the 2001 census as a student but have no memory of the 2011- it would have been me filling it out for me, DH, and the two kids, same as this year, but I just don't remember it Confused

DaisyChainsForever · 12/03/2021 07:46

81 - a few months old
91 - at home with parents & brother
01 - with then DP

TheDogsMother · 12/03/2021 08:15

91 - flat, just me
01 - marital home, exDH and me

Lola001 · 12/03/2021 08:42

11
2021
So four in total and this will be the first time as an home owner

Norwaydidnthappen · 12/03/2021 08:46

Third but I was a child for the first one. Last one I had two DC and was still at uni, this time I have five DC, completed my degree, own my home, married and have a decent career. Pretty substantial jump in ten years.

newnamenora · 12/03/2021 09:31

I just missed the 1981 one

1991 - Living with parents and siblings
2001 - Living with boyfriend in rented flat (still in city I was born in)
2011 - Living with husband (not the same guy as above!) and toddler daughter in owned house (Same city as before)
2021 - Living alone with daughter, in owned house in countryside

Deathraystare · 12/03/2021 12:23

@WeatherwaxLives

Thanks for the rely! What I actually meant was if Joe Bloggs is in room One and Fred Flintstone is in room Two, do both of them put both themselves and each other on each form? eg; Joe Bloggs puts himself and Fred on his form and Fred puts himself and Joe on the form?

I am not good with forms!!
