Could you kill someone?

I was just watching a programme where a man said something like "obviously we all the ability to kill inside us, it happens everyday". Hmm

Anyway - then I started wondering if I actually could do it. Could you?

Definitely. I wouldn’t enjoy it but if the situation required it. And I’m a vegetarian who doesn’t kill spiders Grin

Weedsnseeds1 · 03/03/2021 22:34

Yes, I think I could. Probably not in a pre-meditated fashion, but in self defence, yes.

Number3BigCupOfTea · 03/03/2021 22:34

No. Sometimes I have nightmares that I've killed somebody and they're really disturbing.

FenceSplinters · 03/03/2021 22:35

Yes. I have a list.

Mollyiere · 03/03/2021 22:35

@Whyareblokesonhere

not without breaking my new years resolution, I've been doing so well to keep it this year as well
Grin We're only just into March - you've still got 9 months in which to restrain yourself

If I needed to protect my family then yes.

caringcarer · 03/03/2021 22:36

If someone attacked my children and I genuinely feared they would kill them, then yes I could pull a trigger if I had a gun in my hand. I might even force myself to stab a person with a knife, although I would find that harder, to save one of my children.

FenceSplinters · 03/03/2021 22:37

@Mollyiere double figures.

Keepmekeeping · 03/03/2021 22:37

When my gran was dying very slowly if U could have not my hands on some morphine I would have killed her it was inhumane how she was allowed to linger.

If in defence I could Kill someone.

If someone put me in a room with a gun and a pedophile I'm pretty sure I could kill them.

Just because I hated someone no I couldn't.

Pancake4life · 03/03/2021 22:38

its taking everything I've got to not kill my neighbour right now

Mollyiere · 03/03/2021 22:38

I'm reevaluating my answer!

Some years ago we were broken into overnight (while we were all here). I remember the feeling of utter fury I had - I wanted to go out and chase them. Dh had to restrain me.

Ask Fence if you can put them on her list ...

And sorry you've got horrible neighbours. I'm

I think that anyone is capable, it just depends on the situation. Eg your own survival, the survival of your children etc

SenecaTrewe · 03/03/2021 22:42

If someone harmed DD I would not hesitate to kill them.

Sunnyday321 · 03/03/2021 22:42

To defend self or family then of course yes . It would be much easier to do it impersonally such as shooting, or perhaps running over in a car . To state someone in the eye as you are doing it like strangulation or stabbing would be hard to do especially as most would be stronger than me , and I'd probably be the one that died !

TotorosFurryBehind · 03/03/2021 22:44

In defence of my child, yes. I found this aspect of becoming a mother scary, she is everything, I would do anything to protect her.

VegetarianDeathCult · 03/03/2021 22:44

Absolutely. I think it’s hopelessly naive to believe otherwise. Even leaving aside the context of being conscripted/signing up and trained to kill in wartime, as many ordinary men did — and three of my great-uncles who fought in WWI lived long enough for me to know how ordinary they were — I have family members who fought in the war of independence and the Irish civil war and at least one who lived into my lifetime killed a neighbour he’d known all his life in that conflict.

Why would I be any different?

Faith50 · 03/03/2021 22:44

In the right circumstances. I would not hesitate to protect close family.

I think we are capable of far more than we believe ourselves to be.

DioneTheDiabolist · 03/03/2021 22:44

Not sure if I could murder someone but I'm pretty sure I could kill someone.

tsmainsqueeze · 03/03/2021 22:45

To protect my child ,yes in a heartbeat and i don't think i would have a problem dealing with it afterwards either.

TrainspottingWelsh · 03/03/2021 22:47

In defence yes. From a mercy/ euthanasia perspective I probably could, obviously dependent on the circumstances and consequences.
I imagine I'd also be reasonably capable in a combat/ disaster like scenario, I have adhd and I suspect the adrenaline and impulsiveness would take over when it came to survival. (Not that my impulsive behaviour usually takes the form of killing people)

ParkheadParadise · 03/03/2021 22:47

Yes, I think I could.
Months after my dd died. I was sitting at traffic lights in my hometown when the bastard who took her life crossed the road he looked happy and was laughing. I wasn't in a good place mentally at the time. For a split second, I nearly put my foot on the accelerator and killed both of us. The only thing that stopped me was dd2. She was a couple of months old and in the back in her car seat. I didn't drive for weeks after that.
After the trial, I thought seriously about paying someone to do him in.

Mrsrightagain · 03/03/2021 22:48

I would of someone deliberately harmed my children.

oil0W0lio · 03/03/2021 22:50

No, killing is too good for them!
