Blue passport my arse.

DS has just got his British passport, which is very nice, but not blue. At all. It is not navy, dark navy or blue-black, it is just plain black. Which is fine but...why say they are blue?!

All this whining. They're the best passports the French can make.

In Poland.

Anything would be better than that EU crappy cheap looking thing.

My sons photo is really funny, so having it ‘framed’ does give me a giggle.

I got my first passport about 1970 - iI don't remember it being blue. It was black

I remember seeing people in the 'other' queue at passport control at a UK airport a few years back who had blue/black passports, and thinking how old-fashioned and out of date they looked. The whole thing is ridiculous.

You do know that a lot of countries have blue/black passports? Including Canada, Australia and the USA. I guess they all have old-fashioned passports

Back to the passport issue. I got mine today and everyone says it looks blue. I find it looks quite black until I hold it up and tilt it in direct sunlight.

Aren't the UK passports now processed and produced in Poland? Either way, France or Poland..... the UK needs the EU to produce a UK passport......I can only laugh!

The French-Dutch company that won the contract decided that it wasn't a particularly prestige one, so subbed it out to a Polish subsidiary.

I’ve got my parents old passports - they are quite definitely blue, new ones do look black.

So what was all the nonsense about ‘oooooo I want me blue passport! frrrreeeeeeeedommmmmm!’

Mines definitely dark blue, sorry to crop in so much, but I had put a photo on social media.

I mean they are basically all primary and secondary colours and nothing else. Yawn.

I dont really care about the colour I just don't understand why they are not made here especially with the importation fees why is it cheaper to manufacture and ship in from overseas

My daughters is definitely blue, like a dark school uniform navy. The little photo window is cool though.

Received mine this morning and definitely looks black to me. 95% of my wardrobe is black so I actually don’t mind it.

Absolutely hate Brexit and it was a driving factor for us to leave the UK but I’m not too bothered about the colour of my passport tbh. And anyway; the Swiss win most stylish passport hands down!

My DP and I always disagree over what's blue or black. I say everything is blue, he insists it's not, it's black. My sister has the same thing with my niece. I really think people see colours differently.

I'm not doubting what you say,StartlightLady:, I'm just astonished to read that the UK doesn't have sufficiently secure tecnology to produce its own passports. What other technology isn't secure enough? Driving licences ? Tax information ? Pension payments? The implications are endless. I am from the UK and I have lived here in the EU for over thirty years now - I could't believe it when the majority vote was to leave.
