I’ve had my second vaccine and I feel horrendous

Absolutely bloody awful. Exactly like the flu. I had no problem after my first and I’m very pro vaccine so this is not a “don’t get the vaccine” post. Just be aware you might need a day off afterwards.

Had the vaccine at 8ish last night

  • woke up around 3 with a headache
  • woke up again at 6 with severe muscle aches all over
  • fever then chills, fever then chills on and off all day
  • vertigo and the room spinning when I turn over in bed
  • appetite is fine, I’ve still been hungry
  • very sore arm (same as the first time)

I’m hoping it’s going to be gone by tomorrow morning but I’m feeeling bloody sorry for myself

FlowersCake
Treat yourself well.
My Ddad is suffering side effects of his first jab and it's making him miserable.

thenightsky · 24/01/2021 18:59

I took 82 year old MIL for hers last Sunday. On Friday called to take her some groceries and she said she'd felt awful all week, shivering and achy. Her skin looked a bit grey too, but that could be lack of sunlight. I'm worried to be honest.

That was Pzier one.

doodleygirl · 24/01/2021 19:02

It’s a vaccine, like many other vaccines some people will have side effects and some won’t.

Bulldoglady · 24/01/2021 19:04

@ShirleyPhallus

I’m not sure how useful this post is tbh. I get that you feel unwell and wish you better but the last thing we need is people looking for excuses not to be vaccinated
The op states the purpose of the post. To warn others they may need a day off the next day?
Riddlediddle · 24/01/2021 19:04

Ive been in bed all day after having my first pfizer jab last night. My whole body aches, i feel conpletely wiped out to the point i can barely keep my eyes opem but yet i cant sleep because of the aches. My arm hurts so so much i can barely move it. Having said that though i would rather take 1 or 2 days of feeling this way over getting bad covid

OMGisthisforreal · 24/01/2021 19:04

Thanks for posting.
Your post and others sharing similar experiences certainly have not put me off having the vaccine, and will be reassuring if I experience similar symptoms.
Thank you!

PaperMonster · 24/01/2021 19:06

My dad had a similar reaction also, but was fine after a couple of days.

Deathraystare · 24/01/2021 19:07

Oh dear. I am due to have my first on Tuesday. I hope I don't get those sort of symptoms as I am covering for two colleagues at work who are off with Covid! An ex flat mate told me her sister had those sort of symptoms from the first jab.

Deathraystare · 24/01/2021 19:08

Sorry @Gazelley

So busy thinking of myself! I hope you feel better soon. Sounds awful.

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 24/01/2021 19:10

I don't suppose it's possible but I think it would be useful if MNHQ could join all there threads together and put as a stickie so that everyone knows what they might expect.

I've seen this thread many times and there'll be others I haven't seen I'm sure so the message obviously isn't getting across.

Every post I've read says the side effects don't last long.

Can't help smiling at all the failed attempts to write Pfizer here!

Annietheacrobat · 24/01/2021 19:11

I felt awful the day after. Thank goodness was WFH that day as was bed bound til the early afternoon.

Poor you. I think it is just luck of the draw with side effects. My mother inlaw has had both and felt fine after.

Think it is like with the baby jabs. They recommend a dose of calpol before but often the baby is unaffected.

Gazelley · 24/01/2021 19:13

I was fine after my first. Just a really sore arm. Second has knocked me for six.

I’m 37, haven’t had Covid before, negative antibody test in November and negative lateral flow tests since December time.

Work WhatsApp group is reporting high numbers of people feeling awful for 24-48 hours but then a quick recovery but only after the second not the first.

I tried 4 times and still got it wrong HmmGrin
percheron67 · 24/01/2021 19:21

Sorry it has affected you nastily. I am due to be contacted by Surgery for mine anytime. On TV it looked as though it was quite a fierce injection - more forceful than the usual one! Did it feel more aggressive. Hope you improve by tomorrow.

Riddlediddle · 24/01/2021 19:23

@percheron67 in all honesty i didnt even feel the injection go in at all. The pain in my arm started about 3 hours after id had the injection and has just got worse and worse as the hours have passed

NotMuchOfaLife · 24/01/2021 19:23

Hope you feel better soon. I had similar flu like symptoms after a travel vaccination think it was typhoid.

m0therofdragons · 24/01/2021 19:24

A few colleagues have found this two and I was told it means your body is making antibodies. Other than an achey arm I had no side effects for first or second. No idea what that means re antibodies for me Confused

m0therofdragons · 24/01/2021 19:24

Too not two!

Mangofandangoo · 24/01/2021 19:25

My mum has this after the second phizer jab - lasted a day or two

m0therofdragons · 24/01/2021 19:26

@percheron67 no additional force and only a tiny amount goes in so hardly felt it. Ached after a couple of hours though.

foodtoorder · 24/01/2021 19:26

@Gazelley I had this too Op.
1-2 days and you will be fine.
I was told that they want people to report these types of side affects so they can keep their research up to date.
Day 2 and I was almost 100%, paracetamol saw me through it.
