Anyone doing this?

Got all optimistic last night and booked a week in Italy in July. Am I a fool?

We have flights to Spain at the end of July, rolled forward from last year. But I have booked a week in Devon, which can be cancelled up to 2 days before, in case we can’t travel

Booked a UK break for April, but we are able to change the date if there are restrictions in place.

Avondklok · 23/01/2021 20:04

Hoping to go to Northern Italy in July but not getting too many hopes up. We have Ryanair flights in the wood from a cancelled girls trip to Lisbon trip last May. I think we need to rebook within a year - will probably look at September/October to somewhere and see how it goes.

@AuditAngel that’s quite unfair on the holiday home owner I think Sad

Suzi888 · 24/01/2021 13:09

I’m concerned, had online chat with TUI and they said they can’t guarantee we won’t need a covid vaccine before we fly and /or need to isolate upon arriving. I feel it’s too risky.

Our 2020 holiday (Sardinia) was postponed to August 2021, no idea if it will go ahead. Don't think I'd book anything new at this point.

SittinOnTheDockOfTheBay · 24/01/2021 14:35

We've got loads of holiday to take this year. DP got furloughed last year, so accrued holiday to carry over and I started a new job in October and have 24 days to take between now and 30th September.

We're going to book 1 of the Easter weeks off, even if we can't go away, we are hoping that restrictions will have been lifted to the point we can do day trips and the weather will be nice enough for us to go for walks and picnics.

We are also going to book a week off work in June and September but not actually book a holiday until last minute - we're just going to have to be flexible on where we go.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 24/01/2021 14:55

No, not booking as not really a holiday with restrictions in place and non essential travel just helps it spread. There’s too many unknowns with regards to vaccines and quarantine too.

We will go once safe and it’s all settled, I love travelling but it’s a want not a need and one that can wait.

Booked a uk holiday for sept but moved our holiday abroad that was due in june ( moved from tear before ) to next year as not convinced travel will be back to normal and its a once in a lifetime holiday not one I want restrictions on .

CottonSock · 24/01/2021 19:10

I'm booking in UK last minute too.

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 24/01/2021 19:18

Why do people think tests won't be needed for those vaccinated? As currently we don't know if vaccinations stop spread or people getting just that it makes people less ill , is that not the case ? As if so if you can still transmit or carry it you are still a risk.
Fingers crossed vaccinations do stop transmission etc

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 24/01/2021 19:22

Uk last minute may be challenging and as long as you are very open as lots of people from last year i holiday parks etc moved trips to this year , and lots of people I know are booking uk trips as opposed to abroad.
I would keep an eye on where you want to go , although if your really not fussed you will find somewhere.
But will be a lot of staycations this year I think .

CottonSock · 24/01/2021 19:30

Did last minute last year after host cancelled. As long as flexible with location it was fine.. There will always be something.

Harley77 · 24/01/2021 19:46

I'm not brave enough. It's all scary enough in own country. Xx

We booked a self-catering holiday in Brundall ( www.swallowdale-brundall.co.uk ) on the Norfolk Broads for April 2020 which was cancelled due to the dreaded Covid. Moved it to June this year, keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't get cancelled again. Would love to book a holiday to Greece for this summer but not sure it will happen so will probably stay in the UK this year.
