Chatting at work today and it came to light that of the 5 of us, 3 still live in the same town as they were born in.

I moved a lot as a child and (having used a distance calculator) have worked out I live 445miles from where I was born.

This is the one I used if you're interested in working your's out. www.distancecalculator.net/

About 15 miles. I lived in a deprived area (wasn't as bad when I was really young) didn't want to raise ds there, surprisingly 15 miles away and it's like a different world where I live now

About a 100 miles - interestingly none of my siblings or my DH's live in the towns we were raised in - and none of us ended up living near each other Grin. My own parents actually moved to be near us - but even they moved away from the 'home town' when they retired to enjoy retirement in a new environment for many years before moving near to me (in their 80s) - I personally like to move around - can't imagine being in the same place all my life.

Great thread.Google maps says 60 miles exactly by road. It's weird it's such a dull place, but I sort of miss living there. I moved out of the burbs of London for a cheaper family home. Feels a lot further than 60 miles really.

CorianderBee · 19/01/2021 21:59

200 miles as the crow flies

StiffyByng1 · 19/01/2021 22:01

20 niles, but it might as well be a thousand!

Covidcovid · 19/01/2021 22:02

2 miles from where I was born.

And I work on the same ward (often in the same room) where I was born.

I live in the village where I lived as a kid (I have moved away but came back).

To be honest I feel like there us too much to see in the world to live in a 10 mile radius of my hometown!

SoupnSalads · 20/01/2021 04:08

Depressingly about 5 miles. I grew up wanting to leave. I do like to point out when people ask that I have lived all over including abroad. I came back for financial reasons to save and could not afford to buy in London at the time.

Mumofstanley · 20/01/2021 05:05

Nearly 10000 miles

SummeHoliday · 20/01/2021 06:08

11,821 miles! Not sure how much further I could get if I tried. Grin

ProfYaffle · 20/01/2021 06:31

I've traced my family tree back 400 years and virtually all of them lived in the same area.

I bucked the trend and now live 250 miles away!

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 20/01/2021 06:43

I've lived in a few countries but have ended up 9302 miles from where I was born. I clearly couldn't have got much further away from NI, and I like it like that. No regrets, its much nicer here.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 20/01/2021 06:44
