Takeaway trouble tonight!

Anyone else? I ordered a take away at 7 pm and delivery time was 8.40pm! Still waiting now, can’t get through to restaurant nor just eat. Just had a text from restaurant saying they’re really busy food will be here at half 10. I don’t want to eat at half ten and I’ve been drinking so I can’t go and get something and haven’t got any nice food in. Now I’m kicking myself that I didn’t have it delivered yesterday as of course the whole country are having takeaways tonight.

Yes, couldn't get through to our usual local one, tried for nearly an hour. Found another local one, was told 90 mins, but then when my DH collected it, they had lost the order so had to wait nearly another hour.

@Pebbledashery yes already paid for thru just eat. Wish they would just confirm it’s still coming or if it’s been cancelled now. I’m starving stupidly haven’t eaten all day so just would appreciate some kind of answer from restaurant or just eat. Restaurant phone is permanently engaged

We got the M&S Indian box and extra bits to go with it instead of ordering in. Seems it was a wise move!

We ordered at 5.22 and finally got it at 10.35 Hmm only took a couple of phone calls and definitely a few lies on their side ("definitely be 45 minutes, definitely out for delivery" etc etc...)
It was tasty, though we weren't nearly as hungry at 10.30 as we were at the start. We ordered at 5.30 knowing it would take two hours (their website) but 5 was taking the piss.

Mine arrived two hours after the original delivery time, 30 minutes after we reported it through just eat who put a request for a refund threw, doubt we will get it like but the restaurant was still saying estimated 45 minute delivery when it arrived which was clearly rubbish

we ordered at 2pm for pickup at 7.30! Was fine for us but large queues outside waiting to order. Was always going to be a car crash tonight! Seemed obvious to me would need to order ahead of time. The Indian we used said they took the phone off the hook at 7.

@Judystilldreamsofhorses think I’ll do that if we’re in the same situation next year! Don’t know if they’ll still be delivering now!

DH rang our usual, couldn’t even get through. We dashed up to Tesco for a slightly odd selection, we’ll try again tomorrow I think. Silly of us not to realise it would be so busy.

In Northern Ireland all the takeaways are under curfew and closed at 8. So many people on my Facebook forgot and are fuming. So could be worse 😂

Ordered Chinese at 5.45 and collected it at 6.45 no problem. There was a queue outside though and they were constantly on the phone, run off their feet. It was chaos but food was great.

Tried and failed to get a Chinese this year (as we usually always do on NYE). Went to the chippy instead where there was no queue at all, even got an extra saveloy thrown in. Bonus!

Our usual Indian restaurant had stopped taking orders by 8pm so we tried a new one .... amazing and will be our new fave takeaway.

I didn't even think about it being NYE. Went to the chippy local to work when I got off shift at 4pm, they didn't open till 4.30pm but took my order and it was waiting for me at 4.30pm Smile

I always order mine in the morning on Facebook to collect at x time. Never a problem. Was fine today as well.

I'm a bit of a crazy planner though!

Just heard from the restaurant they’d lost my order!!! They are bringing it now, yummy Indian for breakfast, they offered to bring it another day and give me money off but I been looking forward to it all day so I need it now! They are going to throw in some extras too. Good start to the new year eh.

Really? Given the circumstances that restaurants are closed and everyone is stuck in at home.

DH called takeaway as soon as it opened at 6pm. Still took about 15-20 minutes to get through. Takeaway was delivered one and a half hours later. I wasn't really surprised for how busy they must have been tonight.

Ordered at 6pm as thinking we would be happy to eat about 8. It arrived at 10.45. Fucking shit show.
