Hi all!
Is anyone still awake and fancying a natter?
Me and DH aren't in a good place but we have have just built/wrapped everything for the 2 DDs and he's now snoring next to me! DDs are blissfully asleep Grin
So I'm having a wine and watching a film!
What is anyone else upto now/today?

@40somethingJBJ Thanks that's tough

Get a doppelganger second sack next year @TheChosenTwo so you can just do a straight swap, rather than ninja-ing in and out twice.

Genius! Where were you when I needed you 15 years ago ?! Grin

Hiccuping. Holding breath doesn't work

You have to do it right

Intake as much breath as possible, hold and "pretend" to breathe "out" without actually doing so pushing the lungs down, hiccups are a spasm/cramp of the diaphragm this pushes the diaphragm down and holds it in place like stretching a cramped muscle which is essentially what you need to do - genuinely not sarcastically HTH

PocoyoandEllie · 25/12/2020 02:05

I’m up with a 6 day old DS on my chest. So so tired but I know as soon as I move him to next to me crib he will be awake. Hoping my DS stays asleep until at least 5 or we are in for an extra long day tomorrow 😬

Stationfork · 25/12/2020 02:09

Yes I'm awake but wish I wasn't. Came to bed 3 hrs ago but lying here so, so anxious having panicky thoughts mainly work related but also not getting on with DH. I work a shift pattern so my body clock is fucked.

I thought the wine and baileys early on this evening would have helped but clearly didn't.

TheChosenTwo · 25/12/2020 02:09

The doppelgänger would be a great idea only they all decorated their own years ago and are totally unique!
Getting it out is the easy bit, it’s the rustling when you put it down and while it settles itself - in the dark! It’s hard to know how to put it down making the least noise but it’s done now Halo time for bed for me.
The dc aren’t early risers, I will wake them as I have done almost every year.

Exhaustotron · 25/12/2020 02:12

@Tearsfortiers

I'm up. DS has just woken up and is opening his stocking!
Same here 🤦‍♀️

We heard DS1 up and quietly unwrapping about 12:30, and then DS2 an hour and a half later.

I'm now sitting in their room insisting on a LOT more sleep before any more unwrapping.

I suspect Santa will be dropping stockings at their door next year...

ThePerfectPintOfIceColdBeer · 25/12/2020 02:17

I'm awake too...yup I also came to bed 3 hours ago but still not asleep lol. Our house is all adults so no need for getting up particularly early just wish I could sleep haha.

curedragon · 25/12/2020 02:20

My sleep cycle has become inverted over the past week. Combination of new strong medication and enjoying my annual leave a bit too much.

Will probably try and tire myself out by giving downstairs a quick tidy up

namechangefail2020 · 25/12/2020 02:24

Yep , my ten week old sleeping soundly and I just can't, always happens. My 2 year old will be up at 6 and I probably won't get back to sleep before then. Phone doesn't help haha

curedragon · 25/12/2020 02:31

anyone eyeing up the sales? Tempted by a coach handbag and or a coffee machine

Juanbablo · 25/12/2020 02:33

I just woke up about half an hour ago. I went to sleep about 10:30 (after being up since 4am) and now I'm wide awake again. Feeling like I've forgotten to do something.

Folicky · 25/12/2020 02:33

I'm up but going to bed.... just watched Being Bridget Jones which I'd recommend. Forgot to load a game onto DS's Nintendo Switch so getting up again. Stockings always on the landing

Didiplanthis · 25/12/2020 02:34

I'm up. I think DS might be back up and rummaging in his sack, but I'm going to pretend I didn't hear anything or I will need to address it and I'm not up for that right now ! Nice to hear other people are waiting for an Xmas day covid result too. Im hoping my dad is ok, mum died last Christmas and he has never been alone for Christmas in 82 years but we cancelled our plans to be together due to the risk to him a while back, which proved timely as I am now waiting for my test !

HarrietteNightingale · 25/12/2020 02:38

Had a very rough few weeks - dad died a month ago and I’ve been surviving on adrenaline ever since. I think it all just caught up with me this evening and I couldn’t breathe.

I'm so sorry. I'm in a similar situation and I know what you mean Thanks

Strawberrylemincake · 25/12/2020 02:49

I’m awake. My dog has decided she’s sleeping on the pillow next to me with her bum in my face. I don’t have the heart to move her. I’m thinking of you all who have lost someone. I feel so blessed right now for what I have. Just me, DS and doggie. I love the thought of little people rummaging in their stockings. Warm wishes to everyone.

Sorry to hear this. It’s really tough Flowers
snappyoldfart · 25/12/2020 03:01

I'm up because I drank some fizz and woke up with indigestion.. I only ever remember that fizz gives me indigestion at about 3am after drinking it 😂

So I'm trying to rummage quietly in my bedside draw for the tablets and managed to wake myself up fully.

So that's me for a hour before I go back to sleep

Kat2000 · 25/12/2020 03:06

Sorry to hear of people who have lost loved ones, I lost my parents a few years ago now but always get sad this time of year. First year having my first house after divorcing after 22 years together. Luckily have the kids for Christmas dinner tomorrow. I would so love to go back to when they were little and staying up so late to put the stockings on the bed. Enjoy because it goes so quickly and you can never get it back.
Feel bad that I don’t have much money to buy mine much this year. They are older teens but that guilt dosent go away. Wish I could win the lottery. Merry Christmas everyone and stay safe 🎄🎅🏻🎄❤️

lovelemoncurd · 25/12/2020 03:14

Went to bed at 10. Just woken up. We still go through the tradition of Xmas stockings for the girls, Santa presents etc and they are 21 and 15. So just hung those up on their doors.

We all have streaming colds though bar the eldest so today is going to be 'fun'!

ScrumptiousBears · 25/12/2020 03:24

Santa came at 10pm as I was so tired. So far DD6 woken at 1am and I told her to go back to sleep. DD4 has just woken and I've done the same. Why doesn't anyone need sleep in my house.

Crakeandoryx · 25/12/2020 03:28

I'm awake 😭. Cannot sleep, hormones. My dc will be up in hours and I have the dinner to cook. Wide awake fgs 🙈

Geppili · 25/12/2020 03:30

@Crakeandoryx I'm with you! I'm hot and hormonal and my 14 year old is coughing and can't sleep. I'm just waiting to put fill their stockings. Just eaten an obscene amount of pistachios!Happy Christmas!

PontiacBandit · 25/12/2020 03:37

Been up since 2.30. DH finished night shifts yesterday so he's not sleeping well and woke me up. I'll try to nod off shortly.

robloxnoob · 25/12/2020 03:47

The kids were so excited they didn't fall asleep until 2am so I've only just brought down all the presents. While I was waiting for them to sleep I chopped all the veg ready for tomorrow and spontaneously decided to make braised red cabbage which - after I started to make it - realised it needed 2 and a half hours in the oven 🤣 so I'm waiting for that to finish and then I'll go up and do their stockings on the way!

jillypill · 25/12/2020 03:53

My dc bloody woke up! Just got them resettled. Only went to bed myself at 12.30

DisgruntledPelican · 25/12/2020 03:55

I’ve woken up feeling sick. Sat in the bathroom for 10 mins but nothing happened so I’ve come back to bed but want to stay awake for a while just in case.

Mind racing through everything I’ve eaten today. I was pregnant last Christmas so may have gone overboard on the pate, stinky cheese and booze today. I hope I don’t have to throw anything away 🤢☹️

Best wishes and comfort to those who are missing someone or who can’t sleep because of sadness. Christmas can be such a melancholy time of year even if the surface is fun.
