My house is still filthy. My presents are wrapped. I’ve found more baileys The fire is roaring. I don’t care about anything else! I’ve organised the first living advent calendar in the village this year, and there’s only one more window to go before I can declare it a success and relax (the last one is the church, so they should remember to put their lights on on Xmas eve, you’d hope!

FB I agree, I try not to go near a supermarket a good week either side of Xmas/new year. And of course you can’t shop on your birthday, I’d forgotten. It’s my stepson’s tomorrow too.

Love the advent window idea! How did it go?

The windows have been superb. People really went to town with them. They are so pretty. Some of the people who did the early dates have pretty much had their windows blacked out for a whole month! But the children are loving it.

How lovely Honeyroar, never heard of that idea it looks magical!

I have three jars of mincemeat but haven’t made a single mince pie.
I bought wreath rings intending to forage and make beautiful natural wreaths - they are still in the packaging
I ordered Christmas fabric to make gift bags - I’ve just bought normal gift bags and paper while the fabric sits and mocks me
I added three bags of oranges to my Tesco shop last week to make dried decorative orange slices. They are still in the fruit bowl.
Never mind the ghost of Christmas last. I’m the ghost of Christmas intentions.

Honeyroar - wow! A living advent calendar sounds amazing. Shame you can't show us pics - would be far too outing. Happy birthday to stepminihoney - I've never met a fellow Christmas Eve baby. Had a friend whose birthday is Christmas Day - pleased I avoided that.

Oh fuck it! The homemade mince pies! I promised MrFB! He’s been very, very good since his diabetes diagnosis and is allowing himself mince pies over the next three days. So I promised homemade.

Why? Why? He would have been happy with a box or two from M&S...

Do you have filo pastry? Just put a dollop of mince meat on it, scrunch it up and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar, spread a thin layer of butter in it and sling it in the oven, no need for pastry making then.

I hate to think of the money I've spent over the years on projects that never get off the ground. This year I've signed up to no less than four online courses but not gone near them. Seemed like an excellent idea at the start of Lockdown. Over the summer I bought a yoghurt maker and a dehydrator- both still in their boxes. I did get as far as taking the instructions out to read but didn't and have no idea where they are now - or how to use either.

I did make my own Christmas crackers one year, I thought it would be lovely for everyone to have a beautiful cracker with something picked specially for them instead of the usual crap. Took me all bloody night on my birthday to make them and then on the day my parents and in-laws didn't even notice...have bought crap crackers ever since!

They are fantastic aren't they ! They do the same in my small town but I haven't been to see them, I was going to this week but it's rained all day every day since school finished.
