What are your really petty pet hates?

It really annoys me when I'm walking behind someone and you can see flashes of white on the bottom of their shoes where they haven't peeled off the labels. That's the first thing I do when I buy a new pair of shoes, peel off the sole labels!

Getting caught walking behind a dog walker who is carrying a bag of dog shit and swinging it as they walk. Of course I'm glad they've picked it up and taken it with them but why the swinging.

FlippinNoah · 02/12/2020 02:13

People who lick yoghurt pot lids and who tip a packet of crisps into their mouths to get the last bits - makes me heave.

coronafiona · 02/12/2020 03:00

Virtue signalling on social media, particularly bad in lockdown I find.

When people write ‘LOOSING’ weight and ‘BARE’ with me. These two make me gag.

Oh, why do they use ‘reach out’ instead of ‘contact’???. 🤢

Voyager54 · 02/12/2020 05:56

People who rattle spoons in their mouths when eating soup or a desert.

These endless automated calls to centres and the awful musac that is played in the background and the operator eventually answers the call and has to constantly check with someone else for an answer or says "I won't be a second!"

People who are unable to pronounce correctly the Scottish word Loch it is not a lock. Locks are in canals not open stretches of water. Or even worse people that refer to the the Scottish Loch's as quote heard many times "The Scottish Lakes".

People who have baked beans at breakfast and put tomato sauce on top or are unable to have a meal without tomato sauce. I like tomatoes but not out of a sauce bottle.

Voyager54 · 02/12/2020 05:59

Sorry forgot one other that appears on the pages of MN. people who are unable to use a paragraph and type 20 or 30 lines without spaces. Why??. For some of us it is difficult to read it is far easier if it is paragraphed!!

Maireas · 02/12/2020 06:04

Licking the lids of yogurt pots - gag.
Also agree with "loose" for "lose" which appears with alarming regularity on these pages.
"Would of/could of/should of" grrrrrrrrr

pinkbalconyrailing · 02/12/2020 06:08

pets are my pet hate.

CarrieMoonbeams · 02/12/2020 09:09

Oh God, the "dog writing" thing is one I'm so guilty of! My late Ddog, Morse, was a Lurcher who came from the Midlands. His breeder and I emailed each other for Morse's entire lifetime writing as if it was to/from him and his littermate, who the breeder had kept Grin.

We both (all?) loved it, it was so funny, and Morse's "accent" got ever more Scottish as the years went on Smile

AhoyMeFarties · 02/12/2020 09:51

Adverts telling me I can get my loo hygienically clean, why? I'm not going to lick it, also adverts telling me if I buy XY or Z I will have a happier Christmas
All bollocks

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 02/12/2020 10:21

@Twobrews

People who walk on my grass instead of on the path. In general I hate it when people make tiny shortcuts that must save about 2 seconds walk. In the local retail park so many people climb over a wall with bags of shopping or even pushchairs instead of walking a few steps extra along the pavement.
Aaargh yes!! At our old house our front garden was pea gravel, DH put a nice wide path down the side of the drive so there was room to walk down the drive without squeezing along the car or waking on the gravel. Everyone used the path except BIL. Until one day he walked through cat shit that was on the gravel (not from our cat, we don't have one!) and trod it all the way through our house Angry I went ballistic and he never did it again.

Things that irrationally piss me off are ketchup sachets - thanks for the ketchup for 1 chip but I'd like a pot (a la mcds) please. And baths that arent hot enough. I like them so hot it takes half hour to inch your way in and then once you are in, you cant move.

But if you get tea from McDonalds they give you the milk in a sachet, which is impossible to open without getting milk everywhere
BoudiccaD · 02/12/2020 11:33

Sellers that dont put the price and want everyone to PM them. No thanks, I'll buy from someone that is transparent in their pricing.

People that structure their sentences incorrectly i.e. the pots need washed. The dog needs fed. No, it's the pots needed to be washed. The post need to be washed. The dog needs to be fed. The dog needs feeding.

Of instead of have.

'On an evening' instead of 'of an evening'.

I wish something would put my in laws off, but no, they tramp through the grass and also peer in at the windows before ringing the bell which is equally infuriating but I've ordered frosted film which should stop them doing that at least.

babytwinkle · 02/12/2020 11:44

The way people use 2 lanes that merge in to 1.

Use both lanes, and then merge in turn.

But no, everyone causes a jam in one lane, and then when you use the clearer lane and try to merge, they get up close to the car in front so you can get in. HmmHmmHmm

Floridana · 02/12/2020 11:45

People sticking their tongues out in pictures. Either in a cheeky mouth closed way or a vulgar mouth wide open way. Makes me sick

HorridHamble · 02/12/2020 12:28

People who write ‘F’ instead of saving or receiving notifications on a post on Facebook.

People who then ask “What does F mean?”

Cue repetitive comments with instructions on how to follow a post without writing ‘F’, and people getting upset because they didn’t realise how annoying it can be to other people to have to scroll through dozens of flaming Fs.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 02/12/2020 12:47

HorridHamble · 02/12/2020 14:21

@AintNobodyHereButUsChickens suppose that was inevitable Grin

Spied · 02/12/2020 14:38

People who put a few sandwiches/sausage rolls/crisps on the table and tell you they've prepared some NIBBLES.

Hohohole · 02/12/2020 14:41

My mother uses a chopping board to butter her toast then she puts her toast on a plate. Drives me bonkers. Why woman why?

Thank you for letting me get that off my chest.

sueelleker · 02/12/2020 15:10

@Foxinthechickencoop

When people eat satsumas and pick every single tiny bit of pith off. Drives me insane. Just bung a segment or two in your mouth for goodness sake 🤯
Guilty, I'm afraid!
sueelleker · 02/12/2020 15:32

Dog walkers leaving bags of dog crap on the floor. You've gone to the effort of picking it up and bagging it, chuck it in the bloody bin. Or who leave it dangling from a branch!
Also "quite unique". It's either unique or it's not!
