But everyone else has - what should I do?

Moltenpink · 28/11/2020 18:48

Please be polite to the person running the payroll, believe me they will sort it faster for you if you are. If you are responsible for submitting any timesheets, make sure it was done on time and have copies ready.

Misopasta · 28/11/2020 18:49

Is there a back story about you being bullied or harassed?

Hercwasonaroll · 28/11/2020 18:51

It might be just an admin error. Do people really react like this? (unless there is a huge back story).

ShreksAuntie · 28/11/2020 18:51

I do payroll. I’ve accidentally missed someone on the list when keying the payments.

I was mortified and cried for a good hour when I realised.

We are human beings. People make mistakes.

I am sure as soon as you speak to someone on Monday morning it will be sorted.

Sexnotgender · 28/11/2020 18:53

@RubyFakeLips

Your attitude is a bit bizarre and you're jumping to conclusions.

Payroll errors happen all the time, your employer will most likely correct on Monday.

Do you not have a manager you can contact or can you send the email now so that this can be flagged first thing after the weekend?

This! Wow, you’re wound up tight.
OnlyFoolsnMothers · 28/11/2020 18:55

What’s the back story OP- surely it’s an oversight? Any charges incurred by their error they should cover too btw

Dontstepinthecowpat · 28/11/2020 18:56

Wow sounds like they would be glad to see the back of you!

YakkityYakYakYak · 28/11/2020 19:00

I guess it is what to do if they don't pay on Monday - is it Employment Tribunal or county court claim?

Well that escalated quickly.

Maybe start by contacting your employer on Monday morning and making them aware of the issue Confused

Springcatkin · 28/11/2020 19:01

It is a small company and I know that the person who does the wages did them all on BACS to be authorised. I know everyone else has had thers because have a whatsapp group and I asked.
Yes there has been bullying behaviour so I suspect this is more of it.
We are traditionally paid on 27th of each month.

I did payroll in my last firm. Mistakes like this happen. I'd send an email copying in a few senior people right now. There is a good chance that someone will read their emails and jump into gear to rectify.

PleasantVille · 28/11/2020 19:07

Do you think your payment was deleted from the list that the payroll person input to the bank?

This is all a bit weird, if you know what happened and think you are being targeted why was your OP so abrupt and lacking in any of the necessary information.

Nacreous · 28/11/2020 19:09

Your firm should have the ability to pay you via a faster payment, even if it's an "advance" for most of your net salary until they can sort it out and push it through payroll. They can do a CHAPS payment and pay the charge if necessary.

Force yourself to be polite, it won't do any good to start talking about county court.

Talk to your bank about an overdraft if you need it to avoid going into an unauthorised overdraft from the direct debits just in case it hasn't been sorted by then.

Ohalrightthen · 28/11/2020 19:30

Call your boss OP! I don't get why you haven't done that.

PleasantVille · 28/11/2020 19:35

@Ohalrightthen

Call your boss OP! I don't get why you haven't done that.
I assumed the OP thinks it's the boss who has somehow stopped the payment
Moltenpink · 28/11/2020 19:58

Sorry if you’re being bullied but I really doubt this is a part of it, it’s a real pain to make a manual payment separate to the main run.

timeforanewstart · 28/11/2020 20:05

I had this once normally paid on 27th and had been for years but out contract said end of month
All my colleagues had been paid as usual , turned out mine was sue to me having some sick tome
Off and they were waiting to speak to me ?? Made no sense but they paid me straight away when i pointed out
When a previous lady did payroll she paid me twice obviously I told them and returned straight away but mistakes do happen

Ohalrightthen · 28/11/2020 21:01

@pleasantville unless she's been fired, there is no acceptable reason for her boss to withhold her salary, so surely the best way forward is to go to the boss, say "this has happened, please fix it" and make sure they don't get away with it.

And then after it's fixed, go to HR and ask them to look into it to "make sure this doesnt happen to anyone else"

BashfulClam · 28/11/2020 23:34

Call your boss and let them know immediately.

BarbaraofSeville · 29/11/2020 06:35

And if the OPs been fired after 3 years she should know about it, even a small company would have a discussion and follow it up in writing.

OP, this is almost certainly an error by either your employer or your bank, which can be sorted out on Monday. They can send money the same day.

If you are short of money for essentials over the weekend, use a credit card if you have one, or speak to your bank about a temporary overdraft. If you call early this morning, hopefully you won't be on hold for too long.

But don't be threatening court or tribunals until your employer has had chance to respond and put the situation right. That's lunacy.

KatherineJaneway · 29/11/2020 06:41

Don't go off half cocked. First of all find out why there is a delay. It could be an issue in payroll itself, could be an issue with your bank. Find out what happened first then decide the best next move.

Also worth checking what you pay date actually is. You sag you are traditionally paid on the 27th, but if your pay date is the last day of the month, then it could arrive Monday 30th.

purpledagger · 29/11/2020 10:04

Don't go in all guns blazing. Speak with your employer on Monday morning and I'm sure it will be easily resolved.

I once wasn't paid due to a really simple admin error. Yes, it was inconvenient, but a silly mistake had happened and it was quickly put right.

After this is resolved, you should raise the issue of bullying.

topcat2014 · 29/11/2020 12:37

Who do you bank with?

If not the big banks like HSBC there could be a specific problem with your bank that doesn't affect other staff

Cleanerdilemma · 30/11/2020 17:04

Did you sort this @Springcatkin?

MrDarcysMa · 30/11/2020 17:26

Why can't you contact your employer until monday? this is an emergency, do they not have a phone/ email? Is there nobody in HR/ Payroll you can speak to if your manager is really not contactable?

Springcatkin · 30/11/2020 18:29

No - emailed them but no response
