I had a bunch of flowers through the post today from Waitrose to thank me for being such a valued customer. Has anyone else had this?

Huh I spend over £500 a month there and no flowers for me. I do have priority slots but never really understood how that decision was made.

ShrikeAttack · 20/11/2020 22:57

Amd here's my last meat order for all the nosey buggers out there!

Are you Henry VIII, OP?

Bluntness100 · 20/11/2020 23:04

I think this depends on how much you spend.

I once got a case of wine from British airways, much to my surprise, I arrived home from yet another work trip and found twelve bottles on my door step.

I also got a hand written note and gift from a director at lk bennet, as I spent more than I care to admit on my work wardrobe from there,

I also got given gifts from intercontinental hotels as apparantly I was in their top one percent of guests globally, so every time I checked in i got a gift, mad things like flip flops that were handed over at reception with a thank you , 😂

The more you spend, if you hit the top x percentage then yes it’s typical you get some form of gift,

JJsDinerWaffles · 20/11/2020 23:13

I haven’t had flowers but I did get a lovely Heston panetonne a couple of Christmases ago and I get priority slots (i presume because I’ve done an online shop every week for the last 12 years or so.) I think it’s nice!

Sforsh49 · 20/11/2020 23:21

£18 for a chicken? You've paid for your flowers and Prosecco there! My local butcher will deliver you an organic free range chicken free of charge the day you order it for £8!

waterandlemonjuice · 20/11/2020 23:25

I spend over £1k a month with ocado and have never had a gift, I’m pissed off now!

ShrikeAttack · 20/11/2020 23:28

The chicken wasn't from Waitrose @sforsh49 it was from the meat supplier I use, and it was about 2.7k. So a big 'un.

I think a lot of companies are trying to keep their most loyal customers, which makes a change from giving vouchers to those yelling at them because they had to stand behind 1 person in the queue

cookiecrunchh · 20/11/2020 23:45

No, but lots of vouchers and some free food recently.
Spend close to 1k a month too, family of 5 - 3 hungry children. Also slightly lazy do lots of CB ready meals at £7 plus.

ShrikeAttack · 20/11/2020 23:46

Anyway, update on the flowers. I think they're beyond revival.

Oh no. There they are!

OP posts:
PickAChew · 20/11/2020 23:51

Oh, they do look rather sad. You might be able to pick out a few heads for a smaller vase.

cookiecrunchh · 20/11/2020 23:55

Think the Lily's will be okay. I'v noticed lots of reduced flowers in store recently so they could be adding them to random orders instead of binning them.

ShrikeAttack · 20/11/2020 23:58

The fresias and lilies will probably be ok.

I'm holding out for the stocks.

ShrikeAttack · 21/11/2020 00:05

They weren't on a random order Cookie, they came with the post, hence their droopiness!

Thusly

I got a free bunch of tulips with my order from my French supermarket today. Something to do with supporting local producers who have nowhere to sell their flowers. Maybe yours are for the same reason?

jessstan1 · 21/11/2020 00:37

How lovely!

Waitrose flowers are lovely, I have organised flowers to be sent to others from Waitrose but never received any.

Well done you.

ShrikeAttack · 21/11/2020 00:51

I'm drinking a lovely big martini now.

That's probably why my Waitrose order is so large.

Salut!

Not had flowers through the post from Waitrose but was once given a bouquet in the shop (so very fresh) as a thank you because when a bottle of lemonade exploded over me I laughed rather than made a fuss! (Well I was going straight home, my outfit was machine washable and at least it wasn't pigmented orangeade!)

Re Christmas I have been doing C & C with them since April and was offered priority Christmas C & C booking. (I don't know how sophisticated their computers are but I've had a Waitrose card for years so that might have been factored in).
