🎤On the National Express
There’s a jolly hostess
Giving porridge free
She’ll provide you with shots
amaretto or what
You like to seeeeee...

Going out was in style
Now we’re stuck in this aisle
Dream of being free
And it’s hard to get by
When your arse is the size
Of the furlough feeeeeee🎤

Bah ba ba la

Tomorrow belongs to meee...

Welcome to the 17:38 to freedom, stopping at virtual hugs, critical discourse, and random tangents along the way. ETA unknown...

Welcome @tappitytaptap

tappitytaptap · 18/11/2020 19:52

As an aside, I do wonder what those who scaremonger on the covid boards will move onto when this is over, or what they found to weep and wail about before this?

tappitytaptap · 18/11/2020 19:53

Thanks @LivinLaVidaLoki

DrDiva · 18/11/2020 19:53

Congratulations @MercyBooth!

LivinLaVidaLoki · 18/11/2020 19:54

I sneaked on @mercybooth
I find it astounding that so many are "how many people need to lose their jobs just so you can have 5 days for Christmas"

From a cohort of people that haven't given a shiny shit about jobs before now. Who have decried people wanting to feed their families as selfish.

And don't get me started on "well we will have to foot the bill for that too so just stay locked down"

Foot the bill???!!!! How did they think we are paying for this shit show so far??!! Fucking nectar points?!

wanderings · 18/11/2020 19:58

@tappitytaptap I expect the lovely little Greta Thunberg will pop up when Covid is over, saying "you see, it wasn't so bad, not going on holiday...", so the dementors will join forces with her.

MercyBooth · 18/11/2020 20:06

@LivinLaVidaLoki YY The gaslighting and emotional blackmail is making me no longer want to comply.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 18/11/2020 20:07

Though you got to feel sorry for Boris. He didn't want to open up for Christmas but he has to because there's a claus in the covid act.....

LivinLaVidaLoki · 18/11/2020 20:07

I'll get me coat

It made me laugh, we’ll save the comedy hook after all!
tappitytaptap · 18/11/2020 20:14

@wanderings I think one of the positives of the pandemic has been not having to listen to her, I said this to DH the other day 🙈

Blobby10 · 18/11/2020 20:18

@justasking111 @TheOrchidKiller just waiting the results of the angiogram but so far lots of ‘it could be’ and no definitive answer. It could be a combination of several things - including anxiety started during first lockdown when he didn’t know if he would work agakn (dentist) to issues with new boss then lack of exercise and increasingly lazy cooking 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️I’ve been asking him for months to get checked out- female instinct that something wasn’t right- but he did the ostrich thing. But definitely on the mend 🤞🤞🤞

MercyBooth · 18/11/2020 20:23

@tappitytaptap In March, I started a thread saying that Greta must be loving it (no flights, kids out of school), but it was deleted before I saw any replies! Blush

loulouljh · 18/11/2020 20:26

The Greta and nectar point comments have both made me spit my tea out!!! I cannot venture away from this thread...have banned myself for the sake of my sanity!

AcornAutumn · 18/11/2020 20:28

I think Greta might have taken a step back regardless, surely her handlers must have realised she was getting too much.

AD`s ready for xmas because of claus in the covid act.

There is your header for the next thread Grin

Well done @LivinLaVidaLoki

Well she was squawking on tv the other day.
110APiccadilly · 18/11/2020 20:54

I feel sorry for Greta, she's sincere, and I don't think has the maturity/ people skills to see the immense insincerity of a lot of her associates. She reminds me of Joan of Arc, and that didn't end well for poor Joan. Her parents, and the other people round her, have let her down badly.

I agree with this, though I do think she deserves credit for putting climate change higher up the agenda. I worry what will become of her in ten - fifteen years.

I am genuinely having an advert for facemasks show up on this thread. They are described as, "washable, adjustable, smug," - no word of a lie. Truer than they know? (I assume they meant snug.)

I'd like to bet somewhere among the small print they also say 'non medical'
DominaShantotto · 18/11/2020 21:42

I have adverts for face masks fucking everywhere.

We've had our confirmation of student travel dates when all our teaching goes online (again) - doesn't affect us too much as we're the last lot delegated to leave the sinking ship (well doesn't really affect me at all since I rarely go on campus - I have to in a couple of weeks to collect my NHS smart card in case I ever get to go on a "proper" placement)... can't see many sticking around with how little we're getting face to face.

amicissimma · 18/11/2020 21:43

Well Greta's not going to be pleased with me.

The lack of anything on telly has sent me into the dark corners of the big numbers on Freeview where I found a program about the amazing arty stations on the Stockholm underground. When I'm let out I've got to go and see them. And I'm not sailing there.

DominaShantotto · 18/11/2020 22:21

The nudging to get us to accept no Christmas is working on the covidiots (I'm claiming the term for those who think lockdowns work and that we just need to lock down harder and the virus will go away - will also accept covarseholes and covigilantees) who are now demanding Christmas is cancelled and that we just stay in and that we want to stay locked down.

They are being played like the only bloody orchestra allowed to play - not only are we being locked up again... but they're bloody begging for it and more and harder like some shitty porn film.

I get the very real impression the uni staff are growing sick of blended bullshit and worried about the students being stuck at home all the time and moving to tip the blend balance a bit more as well.
