When do you put up your Christmas Tree?

I know it’s only November but what a year this has been! I’ve heard some people say they’re going to put up their trees early to bring some festive spirit. When is everyone thinking of putting them up?

Advent Sunday.

Mid December

About 10 days before Christmas. I love Christmas and I hate the idea of having the tree sitting around for weeks and being a bit meh about it by actual Christmas time. Also we always have a real one, so it would be looking a bit crap by then too. I also haven't started my Christmas shopping yet! Shock

Usually end of November, not looking forward to it - husband insisted on a new fake one last year - it's massive and heavy - blocks out the light in the day and with the lights you could probably guide in planes at night. I hate the big dust collecting bastard - I think I will make him deal with it this year.

After or on my DS's birthday which is the 15th December, never in November Shock

Serena1977 · 03/11/2020 19:24

Usually 1st December to 1st Jan. This year, 12th November till 1st jan.

TheWelshposter · 03/11/2020 21:26

Usually between 5th and 10th December, stays up until 6th Jan.

wendz86 · 03/11/2020 21:39

Normally December but going to do 29th Nov this year. Noticed earlier neighbours have their outdoor decorations up already!

Ours goes up when we have time to get it up regardless of it its the 1st or the 21st just because lifes unpredictible but it makes me sad the amount of people who are deliberate sticklers over it and I can never understand the attitude of 'xmas joy must start exactly this day and end exactly this time' lol.

Who does it hurt to have it up on the 20th of November or still up on the 10th of January?

Like what happens to people to make them argry, grumpy or miserable over something meant to bring joy that doesnt actually effect anything?

Its no different than any other house decor really and if you take the time to put it up you might aswell enjoy it.

My dads grumpy at xmas, he is always like 'up on xmas eve and down by xmas night' (litrally he starts dismantling it after xmas dinner) and I just always think whats the actual point then.

BarbaraofSeville · 04/11/2020 13:26

Surely we can't buy one before 2 Dec

Why would you want to? It would be dead before it was actually Christmas. Anyway, supermarkets, garden centres, greengrocers, farm shops and DIY stores will probably have them in before then.

Ours will probably go up weekend of 19/20 December, certainly no earlier.

mylittleyumyum · 04/11/2020 13:26

Around the 1st of December. We always have a real tree and only ever had one or two look past their best come Christmas Day. Normally a big, bushy Nordmann Fir.

blibblibs · 04/11/2020 13:45

Always 1st December but possibly the weekend before so 28th Nov.
I'd have it up now if the rest of the house wouldn't moan. It stayed up until the beginning of Feb this year so I don't tend to get annoyed with it Grin

Ismellphantoms · 04/11/2020 13:54

Between the 20th and 23rd. I take if down on Jan 1st.
