My mum left me and the family a bag of black peas so I’m currently cooking up a Carby storm of back peas with carrots and celery, dauphinois potatoes and some veg on the side for a bit of greenery.

My house smells amazing and I love this time of year!

I have also no u her some rainbow carrots for a twist on a veg casserole for tomorrow night Grin

Ended up on a thread about Jacket Spuds earlier. So that is dinner sorted.

I'll have mine with a portion of chilli and DP / kids will have it with tuna and mayo.

MrsJonesAndMe · 28/10/2020 15:28

Fish and chips!

Littlebreadandbutterflies · 28/10/2020 15:44

Sausages cooked in puff pastry, kale and mashed potatoes with caramelised apple gravy.

AtleastitsnotMonday · 28/10/2020 16:51

Veg and bean stew, proper winter fodder?

Flaunch · 28/10/2020 16:54

Baked potatoes with pesto and ham (In coke, a la Nigella) with salad.

Justmuddlingalong · 28/10/2020 16:55

Cheese on toast topped with shallots and a generous topping of fruity brown sauce. Served with a delicious pot of yorkshire tea.

Tonight’s it’s.... Halloween casserole!

Me and Dd decorated the house spooky this afternoon so we have put in a casserole of loads of root veg, cauliflower, peas, leeks and rainbow carrots from aldi. The purple carrots have made the whole thing purple Halloween Grin

Stuffed pasta and garlic bread

MyMessyHouse · 28/10/2020 18:57

Sausage, mash, peas and onion gravy.

This is a perfect dinner for a cold, wet Wednesday.

Also a glass of merlot or two!

paperdreams16 · 28/10/2020 19:32

Garlic and chilli prawn linguine.

Todaywewilldobetter · 28/10/2020 19:35

I love black peas. Best thing about autumn.

My husband has made a truly lovely goulash. With big hunks of bread. We all want it again next week!

EugenesAxe · 28/10/2020 19:43

Sorry to hear that @Turnedouttoes 😕 I hope you get a tasty takeaway.

We're having leftover chicken & veg soup. I love the nutritional and value for money nature of that soup.

Sheknowsaboutme · 28/10/2020 20:00

@MyMessyHouse how do you make your onion gravy?

Please?

ShrikeAttack · 28/10/2020 20:56

I'm not MyMessyHouse @Sheknowsaboutme but I thinly slice a couple of red onions, cook in a very good slab of butter until caramelised, then add a tablespoon or two of flour, cook a bit more and add 100ml of red wine or marsarla until it bubbles a bit, then add 500ml of homemade or made up beef or veal stock and a few drops of Worcestershire sauce. Cook for abot 20 mins.

Delicious!

ShrikeAttack · 28/10/2020 21:03

Tonight we had Italian fennel sausage and purple sprouting broccoli pasta.

Tomorrow is ribollita, followed by cheese with a chicory & green salad.

Friday, game pie, with my own game stock and hm pastry (butter and lard obviously!), with bone-marrow mash and braised red cabbage.

I love Autumn cooking.

Flossingisforteeth · 28/10/2020 21:13

Oh no @Turnedouttoes so sorry to read that

Chippy tea here, I'm under the weather so DH and DDs are fending for themselves - it smells lush though but I can't face it Halloween Envy

fitflopqueen · 28/10/2020 21:25

We had chicken, sausage and veg traybake, very easy. Tomorrow apparently is chilli, if DS makes it, veggie shepherds pie on Friday and Fish & chips takeout on saturday for a change.

AriettyHomily · 28/10/2020 21:31

Butter chicken and roti tonight
Sausage and mash last night
Mushroom stroganoff tomorrow

MyMessyHouse · 28/10/2020 22:10

Sheknowsaboutme ShrikeAttack

Not that posh I'm afraid...

Fry off onions in olive oil till soft, then add bisto best beef instant gravy, does the job and tastes amazing!

Ninkanink · 29/10/2020 09:11

Today we’ll have a chorizo, butter bean and spinach stew. Maybe some crusty bread to go with it.

MonkeyPuddle · 29/10/2020 10:10

Beer and ale casserole today, just popped it in the slow cooker. Will have it with some peas, broccoli and a crusty bread roll. I’m going through a phase of buying those little part baked ones and eating them with entirely too much butter on. Heaven.
