What type of threads do you hide?

I hide Christmas threads (the consumerism over gifts is particularly irritating).
I hid everything trans related ages ago when it was overwhelming the site.
I have also hidden baby names because it isn't relevant to my life stage.
Sometimes I hide sad threads about serious illness.
You?

OP posts:
JimmyJabs · 19/10/2020 13:03

I don't hide any, but I never click on any of the following:

If you are slim, how do you stay that way?
AIBU to think that everybody except me is a fatty fatty fat arse and we have lost sight of what a normal weight is and fat people should just be euthanised to save the NHS?
(I am in recovery from an ED, and have no desire to fall off the wagon)
Anything to do with the Royals
Anything involving long-running in-jokes that I have no hope of understanding
Racism threads, as I don't think I've seen one yet that hasn't descended into racism itself

anuffername · 19/10/2020 13:05

@ssd

Almost everything really

What is WAG anyways?

Word Association Game (I think!)
VainAbigail · 19/10/2020 13:07

@HunkyPunk

Why do people hide threads instead of just ignoring? Is there some benefit to hiding them which has escaped me?
And also do it doesn’t keep appearing at the top of the section you’re in as more replies are added.
garlictwist · 19/10/2020 13:08

I hide anything that slags off cyclists as my blood pressure can't take it.

ShalomToYouJackie · 19/10/2020 13:11

I hide threads about miscarriages usually

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 19/10/2020 13:14

I hate threads where OP asks "what really annoys you?" And everyone says "when people say would of" "Love Island" "holibobs" as if they are the only people to have ever has such original ideas and taste.

LaMarschallin · 19/10/2020 13:15

I never look at line eyes ones ever since I once (while a bit drunk and in a really bad mood and place) typed out a reply to one along the line (ha!) of:

Stop deluding yourself: there's no bloody line. If you can't read a simple pregnancy test should you be in charge of a baby?
And the rest of you can shut up with your "I can see it! Congratulations!". You're raising false hopes; it's very unkind.

Thank god I had the sense to delete it and then hide the thread - only one of two I've ever hidden.
It would have been horribly hurtful to the OP and perhaps some people can actually see these lines that are invisible to me...

lazylinguist · 19/10/2020 13:21

I never hide threads based on their topic. The only time I ever hide a thread is when I've been on it, it's beginning to really piss me off and I want to avoid the temptation to carry on posting on it!

YES line eyes 😂😂
ThatDamnScientist · 20/10/2020 08:54

Feminist threads, too much trans beating. Very toxic.

That is the only one.

LadyWithLapdog · 20/10/2020 10:50

How do you hide entire sections? I also want to hide feminist ones for the same reasons. . How do you see them again, maybe in a few months when there’s talk of other things.

Deadringer · 20/10/2020 11:00

Threads where posters slag off fat people while pretending to be concerned for their health.

MrsBungle · 20/10/2020 11:05

The am I pregnant and guess the gender based on a grainy 12 week picture scan.

You need to be on the desktop site I think.

You can still access the topic if you want to. I have CV hidden so the posts don't show in my "last day" but I do have a little browse every so often.

It won't stop any titles appearing in the Trending Now box though.

If you want to "unhide" them you just follow the same process in reverse.

LadyWithLapdog · 20/10/2020 12:33

@anuffername thank you for that. I’ll try it out.

GoodbyePorpoiseSpit · 20/10/2020 12:40

I like FWR - gives me food for thought and there are some really interesting posters. Then ....the trans debate rears up and although I would say that I am somewhat gender critical when it comes to self ID, I find it an echo chamber.
I hide: conception, pregnancy, I forgot to hide Christmas and that popped up - so that’s hidden now, I hate it! It’s a complete mania for landfill tat and ludicrous add ons. Oh, and Swagger Inn as I don’t know what that is Grin

GoodbyePorpoiseSpit · 20/10/2020 12:41

Also, I too love the dog pages despite not owning a dog. It’s addictive!

Vargas · 20/10/2020 12:47

I knew there was a way to hide threads but I completely forgot about it!

I will feel guilty for hiding the sad ones (esp. about kids and dogs), but I really find them so heartbreaking and of course there is nothing I can do to help...

I can understand why many people don't like the feminist board but I bloody love it, it has taken me a long time to get my head round some issues that have bothered me for a long time, and the women on the feminist board are able to articulate my thoughts so beautifully.

TiersTiersTiers · 20/10/2020 13:02

None, I didn't realise you could hide them.

I find some of the threads very repetitive and so just ignore them or only post on one of the them. Covid etc

Dowser · 20/10/2020 13:14

@DianaT1969
The ad threads are for people who are sick and tired of the covid situation, who are struggling a bit but soldiering on, who feel some people are getting a lot of enjoyment out of lockdowns, snitching on neighbours who are struggling themselves.

They are very supportive threads

While we are in the Main not rule breakers we tend not agree with stupid ones like wearing a mask when you are nowhere near anyone or wearing one in your car etc

So do feel free to join us if you think you’d fit in

We hold each other’s hand, while we try to get through what is an absolute nightclub situation

Dowser · 20/10/2020 13:15

Nightmare not nightclub

Vargas · 20/10/2020 13:17

@Dowser

Nightmare not nightclub
Grin
Vargas · 20/10/2020 13:20

I've just hidden the 'Mystified by tiny gussets' thread as the word gussets makes me feel nauseous...

FurTeacup · 20/10/2020 14:02

I also read boards which in no way interest me, or have anything to do with my life. I find them soothing. I have never owned a horse, taken any particular interest in horses, and have only ever ridden a few times in my teens, but I read with total fascination threads on the Tack Room, about jodhpur sizing or pony shares or arcane equine diseases.

I am an atheist, but I have read lengthy threads about historical proofs for the existence of Jesus, annulments and canon law etc.
