What type of threads do you hide?

I hide Christmas threads (the consumerism over gifts is particularly irritating).
I hid everything trans related ages ago when it was overwhelming the site.
I have also hidden baby names because it isn't relevant to my life stage.
Sometimes I hide sad threads about serious illness.
You?

Christmas threads. Because
A) I can't get over how much people spend on their children
B) I refuse to talk about Christmas until December

REDLIPSTICKANDNAILS · 18/10/2020 20:02

The 'How old do I look?' threads. Old enough to know better.

OverTheRainbow88 · 18/10/2020 20:05

Masks
Socially distancing
Is this breaking the rule of 6 questions!
Anything with a trigger warning
gender guesses... I want to scream it’s SEX

LadofThigh · 18/10/2020 20:08

After this, the ones with boring, bitter Lemons on them. Rejected for a scab eater. Sad really.

DianaT1969 · 18/10/2020 20:09

Interesting to see that lots of people feel the same as me about Christmas threads. It's a shame that people feel compelled to start them in April and invest time and headspace into that one day. I often wonder if they have trouble living 'in the now', and how their childhoods were. Do they feel something is missing from their lives? 'Wishing their lives away' as my mum used to say.

Babies' sleep threads. Christmas. Alcohol. Thread titles that lack punctuation.

Drogonssmile · 18/10/2020 20:22

I need to hide style and beauty it costs me a fortune Grin

LadofThigh · 18/10/2020 20:28

The ones that are badly veiled attempts to take the piss out of other people and the things they want to talk about. Ooooo look at me, I'm so interesting. I don't talk about Christmas until December there's nothing missing from my life.

KitMarlowesCodpieceOfthigh · 18/10/2020 20:35

@FrolickingLemon

Oh and those mad Thigh threads. Smacks of sad people trying to be in a cool and weird clique. Funny enough, haven't seen them for ages!
It's fine - we've found a more private place where no prurient weirdos can watch us ❤️

I'm the same. I blame S&B for Lucy & Yak outlay. I'd never heard of them before that board!
purrswhileheeats · 18/10/2020 20:41

How do I lose (or loose) weight threads. Walking 10000000 steps a day won't help you lose weight - you need to sweat your bollocks off at a gym and lift really heavy weights to make a difference.

HunkyPunk · 18/10/2020 20:44

Why do people hide threads instead of just ignoring? Is there some benefit to hiding them which has escaped me?

Artforartssake · 18/10/2020 20:45

I've come around to the Christmas threads. It makes sense to spread the present budget over several months.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 18/10/2020 20:51

It means they don’t appear in your ‘active’ list, freeing up space for threads you want to see.

Anything to do with babies including names
Feminism
Coronovirus
Christmas

LadyWithLapdog · 18/10/2020 20:58

@HunkyPunk I hid a thread I was on as I knew it was going to wind me up and I simply didn’t want to see vile replies. Then it no longer appeared in my “threads I’m on”. There are plenty I’m not interested in and I don’t hide, just scroll past.

lljkk · 18/10/2020 21:03

Heated pointless rows
Hysterics
Woe is me
Hopeless situations & attitudes
Rants
Health Anxiety
Situations (AIBU) where I'm in a very tiny minority
Conspiracy hysterics

anuffername · 19/10/2020 10:05

This whole thread is about hiding threads.

WIBU to mention that you can hide whole topics

Which obviously only works if people post in the right topic in the first place. Works really well for Sporner Corner - you just never see those posts.

I look at "last day" and I had to hide the entire Coronavirus topic way back at the beginning otherwise every other thread would have been about the virus.

LadyWithLapdog · 19/10/2020 12:04

thanks for the tip about whole topics

AgeLikeWine · 19/10/2020 12:10

Anything to do with transgender: Too toxic.
Christmas: I’m not a fan of all the greed, waste & consumerism so I don’t engage with it in any way outside December.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 19/10/2020 12:35

Whats a sporner?!

BreakfastOfWaffles · 19/10/2020 12:53

I have several whole topics hidden - Coronavirus, Conception (line eyes, oh FGS ask someone who can actually see it irl!), Feminism. I also hide individual threads with offensive language in them.

ssd · 19/10/2020 12:57

Almost everything really

What is WAG anyways?

JingsMahBucket · 19/10/2020 13:00

I hid the “Feminism” board more than a year ago because it’s full of nutters and it was clogging up the Active Threads feed.
