Do you have a hobby?

Looking for some inspiration here, and making a wishlist on the eve of stricter lockdowns for when this all is over.

So, what are your hobbies? What do you wish your hobbies could be?

OP posts:
TwoZeroTwoZero · 18/10/2020 02:00

Photography and photo editing (but I keep losing my mojo with it, especially as we get further into winter and the weather gets worse)
Sewing and embroidery (though I'm not very good at either)
Knitting (but I can't think of anything to knit so haven't even picked up my needles for months)

BitOfFun · 18/10/2020 02:08

Sewing, quilting, making toys and dolls' clothes, furnishing and making items for dolls' houses. I design and create textile art. I write.

BitOfFun · 18/10/2020 02:10

And reading. Is reading a hobby? I run a huge bookclub on Facebook, and invite authors to interview and discussion of their work.

LoveFall · 18/10/2020 02:48

I make cards. Lately I have started using simple watercolour paintings on them. Just gearing up and thinking about Christmas cards. I will most likely use my die cutting machine and stamping for them.

@AllTheCakes

I’ve literally just taken up paint pouring. Never been artistic or creative but I really enjoy it. Takes a bit of set up though, so can’t do it with the toddler around!
That sounds like fun, what do you use and how do you do it ?
fourquenelles · 18/10/2020 04:19

Amdram acting and directing using Zoom.

Just built a Georgian dolls' house from a kit and am beginning to furnish and accessorize it. Lots of research (watching Emma a lot).

My 2 dogs.

For those who do a very outing hobby on two wheels, how often do you go out and how long for?
I used to cycle commute but WFH halted that so I'm considering making it my hobby instead.

MaudHatter · 18/10/2020 05:09

Riding , Reading , crochet , cross stitch and papercutting

Chicchicchicchiclana · 18/10/2020 05:24

I am learning piano and play for about 45 minutes most days.

This winter I am planning to learn to crochet and make a blanket. I also want to make myself a dress but that might prove a bit over optomistic!

In the summer I do a bit of gardening. Next year I'm determined to grow a few veg.

@GlummyMcGlummerson

Are you Jessica Ennis?

tofuschnitzel · 18/10/2020 17:14

Gosh I couldn't possibly say, it would be far too outing if someone came across my comment amongst the millions of posts here on Mumsnet!

Seriously though, I enjoy reading (I am in a book club with my sister and BIL), knitting, embroidery, and watercolour. I don't usually follow a pattern for embroidery, I prefer to come up with my own compositions. I got in to watercolour earlier this year and I am really enjoying it. It isn't always easy learning new skills from scratch, but it is so satisfying when you create something you are proud of.

Factual reading (I'm obsessed with 16th century history and the cosmos)
Hiking and camping with my two dogs (and DH!)
Mountain climbing
And Snowboarding (not a weekly hobby of course but it's my passion and I go as regularly as possible)

Does scrolling Instagram/eating chocolate in the utility room whilst pretending to do laundry count?

SkeletonSkins · 18/10/2020 18:08

I train dogs and go to competitions, absolutely love it, huge part of my life.
At home I enjoy doing cross stitching and painting by numbers, also jigsaws or mindfulness colouring
I also enjoy swimming and go a few times a week

indecisivewoman81 · 18/10/2020 18:13

I like needle felting and colouring in/ painting by numbers. I also read a lot

Nix2020 · 18/10/2020 18:13

Outdoor bootcamp. Three to four times a week.

I'm thinking of taking up French knitting (I think that's what it's called) I remember doing at school and finding it relaxing. Thinking taking this up to break my phone addiction.

Bananalanacake · 18/10/2020 18:32

Collecting Playmobil figures.

MaudHatter · 18/10/2020 19:41

And gardening , can’t believe I forgot about gardening . Probably my most favourite hobby of all .

MaudHatter · 18/10/2020 19:43

For the poster wanting to learn how to crochet . Try Bella Coco on YouTube for tutorials and attic 24 for some amazing blanket patterns . I’ve taught myself to crochet and am about two thirds of the way through an Attic 24 woodland blanket atm . I’m thoroughly enjoying myself .

Thank you for the tutorial suggestions @MaudHatter.

Lifeisforalimitedperiodonly · 19/10/2020 11:25

Scrspbooking. I gave so much stash I could open a shop. It's the art of displaying your photos and memories in the way that will last centuries.
Also cross stitching, knitting, crocheting and I've just started tracing my family history.

MagnoliatheMagnificent · 19/10/2020 11:35

I like gardening, allotment and Geocaching! Look it up, great fun and gets you out and about. For those with a competitive streak it adds another level too..
