Feels like we could all do with a robust tournament round about now. May I start?

I know this is cheeky, but I’ll begin with...

Ah yes, nosswith, that was a difficult day. In fact, I believe it led directly to the publication of the revised Terms of Clarification, as nobody could face the prospect of going through similar trauma again.

Let’s shake things up with a Triple Furlong to

Wembley Central

DuckonaBike · 15/11/2020 14:02

Sounds fascinating Maud. In a similarly serious vein, I shall use the Draycot Manouevre to Temple.

nosswith · 15/11/2020 14:05

I expect after the dispute at The Oval in 1982 there may be mention of it at the Tower of London, so I shall move to Tower Hill to find out if it is the case.

ComeBackIntoTheGardenMaud · 15/11/2020 14:32

To me, DuckOnABike, anything concerning the game of games is indeed fascinating. Over many decades, I have devoted myself to its study and I flatter myself that I have in some small way helped elevate this noble game to the status it both enjoys and deserves.

I think you'll appreciate the subtlety of this one

Aldgate

DuckonaBike · 15/11/2020 15:51

Ooh, nice move Maud. Playing with you people is an education.

Pudding Mill Lane

ComeBackIntoTheGardenMaud · 15/11/2020 16:03

Glad to help, DuckOnABike. I found that the first thirty years were a struggle, but then it all fell into place.

Bow Church

nosswith · 17/11/2020 10:39

Bow Road

DuckonaBike · 17/11/2020 17:04

That’s encouraging Maud. In another 28 years I may become proficient, assuming I’m spared.

St Paul’s

ComeBackIntoTheGardenMaud · 18/11/2020 00:39

Well, that was certainly worth the wait. I haven’t seen the like since the quarter-finals in Kuala Lumpur in ‘93 (and we all know how they ended).

Russell Square

nosswith · 18/11/2020 06:49

I am tempted to move north but it is early in the morning so will move to Hyde Park Corner for a nice walk.

ComeBackIntoTheGardenMaud · 18/11/2020 16:33

Interesting. Unless I'm mistaken, on a strict interpretation of the rules (Volume XXII, chapter 9, subparagraph 7.16) that should put you in nidd for a fortnight, but I'm prepared to let it go. Others may be less forgiving.

High Street Kensington

RomanMum · 18/11/2020 16:44

Can I proffer Turnham Green?

ComeBackIntoTheGardenMaud · 18/11/2020 17:13

NIcely done, RomanMum.

Kew Gardens

nosswith · 18/11/2020 17:20

I think that the River Thames may be tranquil at this time of the evening, especially when viewed from Richmond, which I move to.

DuckonaBike · 18/11/2020 20:11

I’m heading to Embankment, if that move is permitted after dark. Possibly a bit risky but given Maud’s flexibility earlier I’m prepared to chance it.

MyOtherProfile · 18/11/2020 20:15

Hmm I haven't played this game for years, and never on MN, although of course I've played it often off MN. Would I be right in thinking Kew Gardens would be an appropriate next manoeuvre?

Jolonglegs · 18/11/2020 20:31

MyOtherProfile that move is only appropriate under the 1934 Outer District Rule, so yes you should be ok, unles someone invokes the Thames Convention.
My move is Turnham Green.

Quillink · 18/11/2020 20:45

You beat me to it, MyOtherProfile.

Circumventing, I hope, any need for the Thames Convention I play Ravenscourt Park

ComeBackIntoTheGardenMaud · 18/11/2020 21:21

We have had Kew Gardens and Turnham Green within the last few moves, and although I’m fairly relaxed about return visits, others (nosswith in particular, if I recall correctly) are sternly against them and will throw you into nidd.

As the rules also forbid intervening without making a move, I offer you

Stockwell

RomanMum · 18/11/2020 22:12

Can I try Kensington (Olympia)? Hoping that's allowed.

ComeBackIntoTheGardenMaud · 19/11/2020 08:27

Hmm. Very good indeed, but puts my next move in doubt.

Perivale

nosswith · 19/11/2020 10:27

I think that the 1930s Holden designed stations deserve a proper look, so move to Hangar Lane.

DuckonaBike · 19/11/2020 12:30

Good point nosswith.

Park Royal

ComeBackIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/11/2020 11:45

Oh yes, I do adore Art Deco, having been there at its inception.

Colliers Wood

nosswith · 20/11/2020 13:42

I was not there at its inception but still enjoy viewing it and so move to Morden which I understand to be a fine example.
