Maybe they thought it was the best way to shut it down & get it out of the press. However it's 2020 so now there will be more press about why Catherine decided to do this & also we are all bored of Covid so the press will be salivating over this.

MotherMood · 13/10/2020 13:00

This whole thing is fucking weird ...

PicsInRed · 13/10/2020 13:01

@SinisterBumFacedCat

I hope his wife is giving him hell in the castle. I always got incredibly bad vibes off Lily James, can see why now. What a pair of dicks.
Same - she comes across as highly self absorbed.

He comes across as hollow and devious.

I think they've been lucky with roles which allowed them to basically play themselves.

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 13/10/2020 13:01

So reminiscent of the many MP’s caught with their pants down and the wife stands by them for the family (Yes like the Little Britain sketch)

Maybe they have an open marriage, even if they do she has still been humiliated As I am quite sure being so public isn’t part of the deal

Why do women do this I guess they put their families first (and a show of possession)

IcedPurple · 13/10/2020 13:02
@IcedPurple set up for what though?
That's what I'm puzzled by.

But it has all the ingredients for a set-up - obviously staged 'pap' shots, an almost instant 'statement' to the press, and now, the morning after, lovey dovey photos outside their home. You'd maybe expect that from a high-ranking Tory politician who campaigned on 'family values', but from a B list actor and his non-celebrity wife? Does anyone really care that much about their marriage?

EachandEveryone · 13/10/2020 13:02

Why would that even make you watch it though? It’s just cringey.

I keep thinking of his wife as poor Helen from the show!

I don’t think I could watch anything with the pair of them in it.

In the photos he reminds me of a guy I went out with I was 30 he was mid 40’s recently divorced. His obvious who boost and trying so hard was endearing at first a few dates in it was embarrassing

cabotstove · 13/10/2020 13:04

@IcedPurple it makes no sense

Ballstothis148 · 13/10/2020 13:05

Can the wife divorce him though? Problem is she may have more to lose - she has some ancestral castle to keep in the family, he has cash but a divorce may hurt her more. Feel for her, what a shit of a partner and crap for their kids

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 13/10/2020 13:05

When I was young (16 or so) I was on holiday with my parents and my boyfriend was at home. My mum had a huge crush on the barman and was pretty obsessed with him. On our final day she wanted to take some photos of us all and she said to me give him a kiss on the cheek, I turned to do just that and he turned at the same time and kissed me on the lips! The photo looked like we were actually properly kissing, and my ratbag mum relished showing my boyfriend at home.
Just saying not everything is as it looks on photos, a video I'd believe more!

So why hasn't either party denied it then?
IncandescentSilver · 13/10/2020 13:10

I'm guessing they have a bohemian marriage then, and this is a dynamic played out before.

He gets his publicity too.

JaffaCake70 · 13/10/2020 13:13

@LaurieFairyCake

At no point has my brother snogged my neck ConfusedHmm

Are there banjos playing where you live?

HAHAHAHA!!!!

"Bohemian" for her too?

Or just for him?

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 13/10/2020 13:17

@icedpurple I don't know! All done for attention, set up? Or he is actually a scumbag (I can believe after watching Brassic)

Ayla88 · 13/10/2020 13:18

This whole thing is so strange!

As previous posters have noted, what is Lily James thinking getting involved with a married man with four kids twice her age when she could have her pick?

And then him and his wife doing the photo call outside their house like a cheating Tory MP and put upon wife from the 90s!

If you told me it all turned out to be a stunt I would believe you!

EachandEveryone · 13/10/2020 13:18

Lots of actors have boho marriages I can think of one Former Doctor Who and Euan McGregor Who were notorious for it in their boho circles. Trouble is, the wife is never quite on board with it is she? It’s all down to what he wants

@JenniferSantoro he definitely lives in Wiltshire most of the time. He was at a school
Sports match at my child's school last autumn, there was much excitemwnt amongst the mums and the senior children who knew who he was.

I always hoped I'd spot him again at another match tea.

Now, not so much..

ComDummings · 13/10/2020 13:19

The pictures with his wife today are so weird. Really weird. Why not just release a statement? Bizarre people.

Bellieberg · 13/10/2020 13:19

I'm guessing that he guilted / bullied her into doing the photo op. Came home initially contrite and then when he got bored of apologising turned it around on her and put it on her "to keep the family together" etc.

Wild guess but I wouldn't be surprised. She'll look back on this one day and kick herself, even though she's not the one in the wrong here.

Please don’t let it be Tom Baker Hmm
JudyGemstone · 13/10/2020 13:21

@LunaNorth

I used to quite fancy him, but on those pics he has a big sticky-out lady bum.

Eurgh.

I noticed that too! 😂

I think 'boho' marriage is often a face saving way of saying that one partner (which is usually although not always the man) gets to shag around and his wife pretends to be fine with it. She knows that he's going to do it whatever she thinks, so she either has to put up with it or divorce him. If the former, calling it a 'boho' marriage makes it sound kind of cool and edgy - hey, he's not cheating on me left, right and centre, it's just that we're so evolved and sophisticated, not like all you suburbanites with your boring traditional marriages. I'm cool with it!

Realistically, given that he's a 'hot' actor who might spend months away from home on film sets surrounded by very attractive women, and she's a full-time mum to 4 kids living in small town Wiltshire, who is going to get the most benefit out of this 'boho' marriage?

JudyGemstone · 13/10/2020 13:26

@LoisWilkersonslastnerve

Bunch of arseholes, DW, LJ and the wife. 8 feel sorry for the kids. Obviously a tacky stunt. Don't underestimate the lengths these egomaniacs will go to.
Why is the wife an arsehole?

I don't think actors need to be wholesome, it certainly won't stop me watching him in anything.

Maybe they do have a 'boho' marriage, like many people with a lot of access to money and attractive people seem to. Makes sense in a way. Would usually be a 'don't ask don't tell' scenario though.

IntermittentParps · 13/10/2020 13:26

I struggle to understand why these young women look at men like him. When I was her age he would've been invisible to me.
They're co-starring in something. An older man you have to work with, you can't help but notice.

I've always thought he was a sleaze and a creep, TBH.
