I am surprised that GM admitted to going into full on mode (that would have had his stalker fans in overdrive years back, they were always vile about her) but all he said was it felt daft being Dr Who with all the baggage and fandom that brings then marrying the daughter of a fellow actor. Which is fair enough, given how many ate out on that at the time. As for being cynical on whether it would last, given the age gap, that's reasonably astute and self-aware. It has lasted - there was gossip of him feeling stilted/tied down when he tried to break America, but they seem happy enough together.

I used to see DW quite frequently (he lived around the corner from me and we had a similar school run) and never saw the appeal - he always looked like he could use a good scrub down and a comb.
