Good morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm enjoying my peaceful cuppa, in the kitchen, with the window open. It's chilly this morning.

The washer's not on - it's broken so my friend did me some of the girls' uniforms yesterday that I'll nip and pick up shortly.

Neither of the girls have homework to do so I think we'll just tidy round, wash last night's pots, and chill for the day. Dd2 needs tights so I might nip to town for those.

DIY pizzas for tea. I might even make wedges to go with them.

What about you lot, anyone up to much? :)

Morning! Coffee is brewing here I stayed in bed to read while listening to the wind. I love autumn & it’s coming!

We’ve got a busy day, I’ve finally got an eye test booked this morning, then we’re going to collect a wooden drinks bar we’ve bought, before doing charity shop & tip runs.

Have booked to take DH out for pizza & wine tonight as a payday treat then home to watch more West Wing. We’re re-watching ahead of the US election.

MaryBoBary · 19/09/2020 09:30

I'm taking DS for his first swimming lesson since lockdown this morning. Due to new rules I have to go in with him - am not looking forward to being in a swimming costume in public! While we do that OH will do the food shop. Then probably take the dog out this afternoon but nothing else planned

TeaAndCake · 19/09/2020 09:40

I'm currently in the garden with a pot of tea (wearing several jumpers) and listening to Radio 4. Lovely!

Going out shopping in a small local town with DD(8) and have booked in for afternoon tea in a new cafe there.

All uniforms washed and drying on the line.

Off to the woodland to clear up, have a bonfire and take down some dead standing trees so that the beech trees can get some light and fully establish. Hard work, but lots of fun.

ilovebagpuss · 19/09/2020 09:50

Morning @lucysmam I love these chats don’t know why I find them very comforting Grin
I’m still in bed DH and Maximus the cat with me. DD’s silent still I think they are exhausted from back to school shock.
Quiet weekend here maybe a pop to Home Bargains for some storage bits and to replenish my first aid home kit.
Want to make a big batch of spicy parsnip soup and veggie chilli for the week and maybe some muffins.
Washing to peg out and uniform to iron usual jobs.
Have a good Saturday.

SimonJT · 19/09/2020 09:53

I’ve been out for a run, walked the dog, made breakfast and hoovered.

My son is supposedly picking some toys to take to grandmas house, he is having a sleepover at her house tonight so its going to be my first child free night since December! So tonight the plan is to go to a few bars, knowing us we’ll be too lazy and stay in.

DDiva · 19/09/2020 09:55

Morning a quiet start to the day here. Will be popping to the uniform bank I volunteer with shortly for some sorting, will take dd with me I'm sure she'll undo most of my work! Then we'll go to the garden centre to buy some bulbs to plant later.

We have Chinese for dinner 😋

caughtalightsneeze · 19/09/2020 09:58

I've got a long work meeting to attend, about three hours, and after that I think I want to to some decluttering and cleaning and the like. And some drinking coffee and reading a book...

Itwasaquarterpast11 · 19/09/2020 10:00

Simon go to the bar!
Though saying that, I went to the pub last night and am now nursing a headache...
Gardening if weather stays nice, have to tidy round and clean bathrooms. Found cat had thrown up everywhere when I got in so kitchen floor had an unplanned mop at midnight. May pop to shop later for couple of bits. Sweet potato katsu curry for dinner.

lucysmam · 19/09/2020 10:03

@Itwasaquarterpast11 would you share your curry recipe?

I've bought some sweet potatoes this week to try :)

OP posts:
Itwasaquarterpast11 · 19/09/2020 10:07

Absolutely. Give me a mo, shall find it now. For the potatoes, I microwave them for a couple of mins, then flour, egg, panko breadcrumbs and shallow fry.
I'd start with less curry powder than they suggest and adjust to taste, dd found it a little too spicy with the full amount.

Itwasaquarterpast11 · 19/09/2020 10:09

Here you go.

I got to Tesco early to do shopping for elderly neighbour and MIL. Just had a rare breakfast and chat with DS (15) who is a bit under the weather so he’s having a sofa and film day. Older DD may pop over and see him later.

Most exciting thing for me is that DH and I are leaving shortly to go and collect our new car!!! We’ve been driving a shit heap for 2 years and have finally managed to upgrade. It’s not brand new but is a massive improvement on what we’ve got. We’re like two kids on Christmas morning!!!!!

Once we’ve done all the a paperwork and paid we’re going out to lunch and for a lovely long country drive!

BloddersMum · 19/09/2020 10:09

Still in bed here. DD at other end of bed glued to the Disney + trial we signed up for yesterday. All eating scrummy cheese on toast.

Will do a #DrawWithRob in a bit as he now has a Saturday class on YouTube. Then lunch with the in laws at a local pub followed by watching the local Rugby team play.

Busy but relaxing Smile

SummerHouse · 19/09/2020 10:10

Morning all. I have done nothing but make breakfast but this thread is inspiring me. Love the thought of washed uniform on the line. I'm doing that!

drspouse · 19/09/2020 10:14

I'm still in my pyjamas but there are cinnamon rolls in the oven. DD is doing her Maths app and DS is playing loudly with cars while watching Bananas in Pyjamas.
DD has dancing and DS and I are going with an old school friend + mum who's my friend, to swim in the sea but there's a very tight turnaround because of tide times and because DH has a biopsy on Monday so is self isolating.

Then I expect I'll need a lie down.

drspouse · 19/09/2020 10:14

(So DH can't take DD to dancing)

FromTheAllotment · 19/09/2020 10:14

We’re off to the allotment later Grin not sure how productive I’ll be as I have mild sinusitis. But the attempt will be made. Some clearing and winter prep is desperately needed.

I’m not sure what else... boring household chores most likely. DD and DS both have what’s think of as “pretend homework” ie an assembly video to watch, some easy spellings to practise. I’ve nearly finished a Harry Potter jigsaw puzzle so I might do that later. Exciting life Grin

elephantoverthehill · 19/09/2020 10:15

Scaffolders arrived at 8 this morning. For me an early start on a Saturday, but soon I should have a shiny new roof it's only been needed to be done for the past 20 years

Janaih · 19/09/2020 10:19

Had an emotional week so a very gentle day today. Still in pjs doing some ironing, will walk to town and blow 20 quid in poundland which always cheers me up. Cooking a new hello fresh meal tonight - serrano ham, tarragon and butternut linguine.

RedCatBlueCat · 19/09/2020 10:22

Just got back from cat searching - MrCat hasnt been seen in a week 😿

Just sitting down for 10 mins before taking DS2 to football, whilst I try not to interfere with Geography homework - no child, it's very unlikely you will ge able to fill 2 sheets from your head. Use your notes from school and/or look up sone facts.

Dont know what this afternoon holds.

Rowgtfc72 · 19/09/2020 10:24

Second coffee in sat on the sofa watching The Simpsons with my Lucy ( miserable 13 yr old today!)
Waiting for dh to come back from tesco with click and collect-without last weeks random pineapple.
Will put the washing out and then finish tiling the bathroom 🙂

BrigitsBigKnickers · 19/09/2020 10:25

Good morning. I have been up since 4:30am. Flew up to Glasgow with DDs as DD2 is starting at uni. They are shopping for essentials while I stand outside the Airbnb with all the luggage waiting for the man to turn up with the key! What larks!

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 19/09/2020 10:26

I'm not feeling great today and DH is working through the whole weekend for the last time (he's worked 7days a week for the last 4 months) so I'm attempting a slower day.
DS is watching Disney+ and eating as always and DD is refusing to have a nap. I've just cleaned the whole kitchen though and am debating rooting out some of the pumpkin plants in the garden to make some room.
Think we'll go for a walk in the sun later and maybe hunt for conkers in the woods for an hour or so.
Easy dinner tonight of bbq chicken and wedges so I might get chance to relax at some point!

DSsnmum · 19/09/2020 10:26

We’ve done a zoom speech and language class for my DD, now a little bit of ipad time and a coffee! My DS has requested sausage roll for lunch so going to feed the ducks soon and pop in the bakery for lunch. Then homemade pizzas for tea and watching the Strictly best bits show tonight!
