I'm enjoying my peaceful cuppa, in the kitchen, with the window open. It's chilly this morning.

The washer's not on - it's broken so my friend did me some of the girls' uniforms yesterday that I'll nip and pick up shortly.

Neither of the girls have homework to do so I think we'll just tidy round, wash last night's pots, and chill for the day. Dd2 needs tights so I might nip to town for those.

DIY pizzas for tea. I might even make wedges to go with them.

What about you lot, anyone up to much? :)

Had a long Zoom meeting this morning, dropped DS off to meet friends, and I'm off out to the pub later.

Went to the COVID testing centre to get DC1 tested. DC played Nintendo for a while to get over then trauma of the covid testing. I need to get them to do some school work (DC1 is self-isolating after someone in her year tested positive) but I just don't have it in my right now to argue. They have been out to play in the garden briefly and are eating ice lollies. I have mostly spent the day trying not to cry. DH talked about going out (yes, that is obviously against the guidelines as we have a coughing child) to do a hobby and put some petrol in the car. Am supposed to be making houmous and pea fritters for dinner tonight.

I'm still in bed. Depressed and exhausted by being back in local lockdown. Think I'll have a nap, then maybe get up. Or not.

@DSsnmum Not DEx Zoom SALT, by any chance?

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 19/09/2020 15:16

Oh, and what we’re up to:
Hasty tidying this morning before weekend guest turned up. Pizza in the garden for lunch. I’m lolling around while DD watches YouTube Kids on the iPad. DP has gone into town to get some pictures framed. Guest is in the garden, drinking coffee and reading.

Might go to the playground or the woods once DP gets back. Hopefully manage to get DD to bed at a reasonable time and then relax with takeaway and a film. DD bedtimes have been a bit fraught lately, so fingers crossed!

anorangeaday · 19/09/2020 15:18

We’ve just been out to Stratford-Upon-Avon, now have got the paddling pool and the hose out. Soaking up the last few days of summer.

DSsnmum · 19/09/2020 15:23

@SomethingNastyInTheBallPool No it’s run by our local DS support group! It’s very good though, my DD enjoys it!

joystir59 · 19/09/2020 15:25

Made a small flask of coffee and packed that, a China tea cup, water and a plastic dog bowl, towel rash vest and swimming costume, walked dog down to the beach where he fetched his ball and ran around a bit, then I got changed and had a short swim in wild waves, got changed, chatted to other sea swimmers, drank coffee, gave dog some treats and shared them with my friend's dog. Got dried and changed, walked dog through wooded cliff gardens where he chased a squirrel or two. Home dodging away from.tourists. ate a chill and onion omelette and two pieces toast, dog ate his breakfast. Hung washing out, mowed lawn, clipped hedge. Sitting watching TV now. Later will walk dog again.then watch tv

It's ok sweetpea, I got totally thrown out by a chest infection today.

Just rest up and start a new Sunday :)

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 19/09/2020 15:27

@DSsnmum I wish my DD would do Zoom SALT. She steadfastly refuses to take part. ☹️

bloodywhitecat · 19/09/2020 15:32

Took Babies 1 and 2 (10 months and 5 months, we foster hence the close age gap) into the city for some shopping (COVID numbers here are bucking the trend and falling) and for OH to get his hair cut, his first barber's visit since lockdown.

Now Baby 1 is asleep and Baby 2 is trying his hardest to roll across the floor which is wonderful as he has low muscle tone still has really poor head control.

MrsJonesAndMe · 19/09/2020 15:43

We've had a boring day. The kitchen was a tip, so tackled that when I got up, got everyone ready and into town - spent £33 on books really need the library to open!!!
Had bloods done which hurt, doesn't normally.
Lunch, cleaning, they've done baking, we've had tears about homework, now a bit of a sit down before tackling tea.

Thanks for starting the thread @lucysmam it's always nice to read!

@uglyface I'm so sorry to hear about your low mood. Sending you a big squish I'm surprised you're still standing after that week!

PickAChew · 19/09/2020 15:50

I was making the blueberry galette off the front cover of this month's sainsburys magazine.

Have spent half the afternoon with dh working out how to cobble a repair to the switch on my 16 year old magimix because the bit that broke is out of stock everywhere.

PickAChew · 19/09/2020 15:54

Left the fiddly bit involving cable ties to dh, of course. All for a couple of little bits of plastic.

Good morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?
uglyface · 19/09/2020 16:20

@MrsJonesAndMe Thank you. I think the failure of the IVF has caused the panic that he’s getting ‘too old’ (we started trying when I was mid twenties and him early forties, but sadly I am not very fertile and it took a long time) despite being fitter and more energetic than me. He’s out tonight, so I shall put a comedy film on and drink something alcoholic, see if that helps!

aibutohavethisusername · 19/09/2020 17:35

Been for a walk with DP & a friend this morning.

Rested this afternoon.

Taking DD, only DC, to Uni tomorrow. Feeling sad but excited for her.

SimonJT · 19/09/2020 17:42

@Itwasaquarterpast11 Hes gone to get ready at a friends house so its like a proper date, means my hopes of sitting on the sofa are dashed! The danger is we’ll either have sensible 4/5 drinks and come home or get absolutely trollied and want to die tomorrow. Watch this space.

Duggeehugs82 · 19/09/2020 17:44

@ilovebagpuss

Morning *@lucysmam* I love these chats don’t know why I find them very comforting Grin I’m still in bed DH and Maximus the cat with me. DD’s silent still I think they are exhausted from back to school shock. Quiet weekend here maybe a pop to Home Bargains for some storage bits and to replenish my first aid home kit. Want to make a big batch of spicy parsnip soup and veggie chilli for the week and maybe some muffins. Washing to peg out and uniform to iron usual jobs. Have a good Saturday.
I agree i love reading what everyone else is up too 💗
Blueberryblueberry · 19/09/2020 17:56

Also love these threads Smile library and cafe afterwards to read the new books this morning with DC which was lovely and possibly my favourite weekend activity, took DC to hobby and then walk/play in the park after a quick lunch of sandwiches. Currently mumsnetting whilst DC watch TV - may finish off last night's wine with a movie this evening with DH but dinner is likely to be something uninspiring like eggs on toast as I feel pretty exhausted (and had takeaway last night so that option is out sadly)

CremeEggThief · 19/09/2020 23:26

Thanks for the good wishes.Flowers

I got up, had a shower, dryed and put three loads of washing away, cleaned the kitchen quickly, went for a walk, unpacked the online Sainsbury's delivery and washed up twice.
