How comes every single time I have five guys I get a stomach upset ?

I’ve obviously decided I can’t eat it anymore as this happens everytime
I’ll have to stick to Nando’s when our shopping etc
But it’s so odd as no where else upset my stomach like this
Just makes me wonder why is it ?
Other fast food doesn't have this effect on me

The food from Five Guys is really greasy, ime. I’m not surprised it gives you dodgy guts.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 16/09/2020 18:27

Greasier than normal burger and chips (saying something).

EveryPlanetHasAYorkshire · 16/09/2020 18:29

www.mcdonalds.com/gb/en-gb/product/fries-medium.html

It looks like they add gluten as well but definitely no beef or milk. In fact that are vegetarian and vegan approved Smile

Macdonalds does this to me 🤢

tothesea · 16/09/2020 18:35

😂 @Cattermole I must be a similar age to you!

Rhoobarbandraspberries · 16/09/2020 18:36

I used to live in the Middle East and The Cheesecake Factory there used corn syrup in their buns which without fail always upset my stomach. Maybe Five Guys here does?

Jux · 16/09/2020 18:44

Lard cooked chip are divine; as are lard cooked roast spuds. We always have a pat of lard in our fridge, it's good for all sorts of things (pastry included).

Emeraldshamrock · 16/09/2020 18:47

I've a dirty mind I was expecting a different kind of thread. Blush
Never heard of the restaurant

lachy · 16/09/2020 18:48

I've had similar OP, don't know what causes it though. I've only been to a Five Guys twice but I was sick both times within 20 minutes of eating.

Bloody annoying when you've spent 25 quid on lunch!

Macramacious · 16/09/2020 18:53

Lol at all the dirty minded mumsnetters expecting a gangbang thread! 😂

I ate there once and oh my god, the price! 2 small cheeseburgers, 2 fries, a veggie sandwich (which is some limp vegetables in a bun) a milkshake and a budweiser came to £18 WITH the eat out to help out discount! I appreciate I'm not their target market as I'm poor but can't believe people would pay so much for a posh McDonald's.

jeezlooise · 16/09/2020 18:53

Dominos has that effect on me.
I think it's the huge amount of carbs!

Imissmoominmama · 16/09/2020 19:02

I’ve just eaten a Five Guys burger and chips- it wasn’t greasy at all. I had the smaller burger with grilled mushrooms and onions, dill pickle and mustard. I wonder whether it’s some of the toppings that are greasy. Oh, and we always share a small fries (and still have some left over)- could it be the sheer amount of food, if you’re eating a full portion?

Ninkanink · 16/09/2020 19:18

I’m only here for the comments...

Condoments 🤣🤣

ComDummings · 16/09/2020 19:24

Filthy minds! ShockGrin

For me it’s Dominos. Without fail it gives me the squits every time. Nobody else has it happen to them when we have it? We only have it once a year if that anyway. I think it’s just so much grease and fat my body can’t deal with it. Never happens with any other fast food though, weirdly.

percheron67 · 16/09/2020 19:26

I think anyone who had five guys would have a problem with a more intimate part!?

notso · 16/09/2020 19:30

I am actually quite shocked that a restaurant uses peanut oil to cook with.
Loads of places do but actually it's unlikely that people with peanut allergy will react to it. DS is allergic to peanuts but can eat the refined oil with no reaction.

GenderApostate19 · 16/09/2020 19:30

I’m the same with Mcdonalds.
The fresh salads you get from supermarkets upset me too 🤔

underneaththeash · 16/09/2020 19:47

OMG - my husband laughed too at your title. !

I don't eat fast food anymore, but whenever I ate KFC it would come back out again within an hour.

I do also have an issue with some chemical in GF food, after a co uple of embarrassing moments at book club, I realised that they were giving me GF snacks and I had a very unhappy stomach. We now have a GF and non-GF snack pile.

AyDeeAitchDee · 16/09/2020 19:56

I have this with KFC. And occasionally take away pizzas (I can't remember if it's Pap Johns or Dominos but I now rarely have either.)

Love a Five Guys though.

But all of these places no doubt use all kind of flavourings/additives.

Pringlemonster · 16/09/2020 20:26

I’m the same with Costa coffee
Can’t tolerate it
Yet I can coffee1

DrCoconut · 16/09/2020 20:36

McDonalds fries are gluten free. I'm on a few coeliac groups.

Lardlizard · 16/09/2020 20:40

No I’m fine with Cheesecake Factory, in fact I love it !! 🤣

I took DS out for lunch for a special occasion, my birthday or Mothers Day I think. I was starving and there loads of places I would have happily eaten but he was adamant he wanted to go to the new Five Guys. We are veggie so ordered a veggie burger. We were given a burger bun with a slice of orange plastic cheese. That was literally it! Not even a bit of lettuce! I remember eating it with a tear rolling down my cheek ha ha. I've never been back since so don't know if that really is the veggie offering or if we got a half made meal Confused
