Help me get rid of this woman

Shes driving me bananas and she’s invading my life.
She’s there- ALL THE TIME.
She’s wearing a green top, she has long hair.
I don’t know who she is but every thread I go on she’s on it, her bloody face there again.
Then she pops up in another little box at the bottom of the screen so I have to doubly look at her.
Does anyone else see her?
Please tell me how to make her disappear, she’s putting me off using Mumsnet.

🤨

Saltyauntiepoop · 22/08/2020 14:14

An ad?

GroupSects · 22/08/2020 14:20

Oh yes sorry, should have specified. It’s an ad. Is there any way of making it go away?

OP posts:
YesItsMeIDontCare · 22/08/2020 14:21

Ad blocker?

Muser314 · 22/08/2020 14:23

What is she advertising?

GroupSects · 22/08/2020 14:26

I don’t know, I can’t press the ‘x’ quickly enough to get her away.
Does no one else see her popping up all the time?

No, I always ignore adverts.

BashfulClam · 22/08/2020 14:30

I use an ad blocker soo don’t see ads just a blank box

AllyBamma · 22/08/2020 14:30

Ads are usually targeted to you based on your search history etc and also your area. So the ads I’m seeing here in Australia would be completely different to what you’re seeing

GroupSects · 22/08/2020 14:39

@BashfulClam I too use an ad blocker but she’s found a way to bypass it Grin

She was popping up on mine yesterday but not seen her today yet

RedRec · 22/08/2020 14:43

I get the University of Huddersfield popping up here all the time and it is VERY annoying.

SeeeeMoreStars · 22/08/2020 14:53

I'm getting her as well. I don't know how to block pop ups (I'm on the internet on my phone). Yes she is annoying.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 22/08/2020 14:55

Oh good, this is a lot less sinister than I had feared. I thought that you were looking for a professional to 'get rid' of someone. Grin I think you'd have better success with that on the dark net than on Mumsnet anyway.

DannyGlickWindowTapping · 22/08/2020 14:58

I think I saw something like this being reported on Site Stuff. You shouldn't be getting intrusive pop-ups if you're logged into your account. Can't remember what the outcome was, but it may be worth checking that board to see if it's something which can help you.

BlackberrySky · 22/08/2020 15:04

I get Crocs, despite the fact that I bought them about three months ago! I really wish there was a way to shout out "I have already bought the damn things!"

EscapeTheCastle · 22/08/2020 15:13

Yes, she stalking me too.

It was the lady making the choc pudding , over and over and over, restarting every time I went to a new page and now its the lady you describe with the toddler.

I've stopped looking at Mumsnet on my phone because of it! Ad blocker not working.

EscapeTheCastle · 22/08/2020 15:15

Its the way the ad goes mini and in the bottom left of the screen and still runs like the worlds tiniest movie.

CatRamsey · 22/08/2020 15:16

I get the advert for the mumsnet podcast. I'm using the android app though, idk if that makes a difference.

If I go on the browser version because the mobile app lacks lots of features I get video ads which take up half the screen. They're annoying.

elephantoverthehill · 22/08/2020 15:17

I keep getting Red Funnel adverts to go on holiday to the Isle of Wight, which is a bit ironic as I live there.

JMAngel1 · 22/08/2020 15:23

A cookie?

ginghamtablecloths · 22/08/2020 15:24

Don't know if this would work on your device but could you Google nice things which you are interested in? This may cause a selection of different ads to pop up which are not so annoying.

GroupSects · 22/08/2020 15:29

@EscapeTheCastle Yes, it’s exactly as you’ve described it.

Thanks @DannyGlickWindowTapping I’ll have a look.

@BlackAmericanoNoSugar ha! Wonder if Mumsnet would be any use if one needed an assassin....

OP posts:
GroupSects · 22/08/2020 15:33

@ginghamtablecloths Hmm, I could but then I’d be bombarded with adverts about Daniel Craig, and how to smother your husband and not leave any evidence behind.
Still be better than that woman though.

My ads have moved on from stair lifts and dental plans to boarding schools for the very gifted - nobody with long hair though
