Help me get rid of this woman

Shes driving me bananas and she’s invading my life.
She’s there- ALL THE TIME.
She’s wearing a green top, she has long hair.
I don’t know who she is but every thread I go on she’s on it, her bloody face there again.
Then she pops up in another little box at the bottom of the screen so I have to doubly look at her.
Does anyone else see her?
Please tell me how to make her disappear, she’s putting me off using Mumsnet.

This keeps coming up at the bottom right of my I pad screen and blocking the thing I'm trying to look at!

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 22/08/2020 16:23

Hello @GroupSects we're sorry you're annoyed by the ad - but, like your fellow MNers, we're a touch relieved you're not seeking the services of a professional hitwoman as that would be firmly not in the spirit...

As we said about this over on Site Stuff, we understand that a new style of advert can take a while to get used to, but we have included a close option that will stop the advert from playing.

Can we also check if you're logged in or out when you see her?

vanillandhoney · 22/08/2020 16:28

I have an Adblock and never see any ads. What adblocker and browser are you using?

impostersyndrome · 22/08/2020 16:34

@EscapeTheCastle

Yes, she stalking me too.

It was the lady making the choc pudding , over and over and over, restarting every time I went to a new page and now its the lady you describe with the toddler.

I've stopped looking at Mumsnet on my phone because of it! Ad blocker not working.

@GroupSects it's me who reported this on site stuff. Apparently they’re looking into it. In the meantime they advise to log in, which doesn’t always suit, so for me that means using the site less, which I suppose is a good outcome in one sense Grin
pennylane83 · 22/08/2020 16:34

@GroupSects I get her also. Its about baby monitor comparisons. Don't know why I get that particular ad. Never owned a baby monitor ever nor ever spent any time researching them. I just click it off when the cross comes up.

impostersyndrome · 22/08/2020 16:35

And @YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet please bear in mind that closing it works, but it pops up on every window, so it becomes a bit like wackamole. Not a pleasant browsing experience.

sausagebap · 22/08/2020 16:38

MNHQ, please, please do something about it. I no longer read MN on my mobile (I don't want to log in on there for several reasons) because it's absolutely unbearable - every single thread necessitates scrolling past the advert once, seeing it pop up, and waiting for the close option to appear (which sometimes takes considerable time).

It's incredibly off-putting and unpleasant.

Justaboy · 22/08/2020 16:39

Give her a click shes what PAYS for this site to keep going!

Or woudl you be prepared to pay a subscription for it instaed?.

SmudgeButt · 22/08/2020 17:01

try deleting your cookie history under internet options. that should wipe out the record of sites you've been on so at least you are then subjected to a different set of ads.

fyi - my pop up ads are very expensive men's shoes. by expensive I mean in excess of £300 a pair. hopefully DH has merely been window shopping.

craggymaggie · 22/08/2020 17:04

I'm getting adverts for sunloungers and I'm getting tempted to buy one, it's a bright red double bed hammock thingy with pillows and a canopy.

Trouble is, it's raining outside and I can't justify spending all that money on something I will only use a handful of times a year.

Or should I? It does look lovely and comfy...

yeah yeah yeah...... we've all heard it
GroupSects · 22/08/2020 17:11

@YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet I’m logged out when I see her but sometimes I just want to browse and not log in all the time but I’m having to log in as she needs clicking off every single page I read.
I haven’t been googling baby monitors either, haven’t needed one for about 8years and definitely no need for a new one.

I get that bloody women making a cake.

ErinBrockovich · 22/08/2020 17:28

Shein underwear which is a refreshing improvement on the ugly sandals that normally appear.

DagenhamRoundhouse · 22/08/2020 17:35

AdBlock. Free and effective.

Boiing · 22/08/2020 17:36

Yes! I've reduced use of the site as well because that ad is driving me craaaazy. I know you can close it and I DO. But everytime I click on the screen for any reason, she reappears. If I scroll up and down, she bounces around the screen, it's distracting and hides what I'm trying to read.

If this kind of ad stays on Mumsnet permanently then I'm leaving.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 22/08/2020 17:36

I’ve got the annoying porky one in the green top, too.
She’s been haunting me for a couple of days now.

SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 22/08/2020 17:39

Pay £5 a month and get no adverts? 'tis bliss.

fucknuckle · 22/08/2020 17:41

i’ve had to install 2 more adblockers recently to combat pop ups. now i get a snarky popup from MN asking me to either disable my adblockers or pay for premium.

yeah, no.

NotTerfNorCis · 22/08/2020 17:52

I'm no seeing it. Is it in the thread or in a panel to the side? If an advert is particularly annoying you can click on the triangle at the top right to say you don't want to see it again.

BorisandHarriet · 22/08/2020 17:55

Yes I get the annoying bloody woman too. Mumsnet seems to log me out every single time I leave it (only started doing this in the last couple of days) and if I don’t log in she’s bloody there on every single bloody thread. Very boring indeed.

Therollockingrogue · 22/08/2020 17:56

Lol i wrote about this just the other day. Drives me insane

starfishmummy · 22/08/2020 18:12

@GroupSects I was worried there for a moment

She’s wearing a green top, she has long hair

This is me today! Looks for hidden cameras....

CigarsofthePharoahs · 22/08/2020 18:42

Before lockdown I got a lot of ads for all male gay cruises. Pretty sure I'm not the right demographic for that.
Haven't been stalked by a woman in green, instead it's a hideous green dress called Firefly sold by Wolf and Badger.
Well I say "sold". I really can't think of anyone who'd buy it.

Woe - that dress really is a statement piece!
