Just started to rain here - which is great except I'm in the middle of doing my deferred phonetics exams and the only work space in our tiny house is in the conservatory so if it doesn't stop in the next 10 minutes - doing my intonation one (I struggle like mad with intonation) is going to suck!
That'll be louder than the caravan!

Seem to remember that the hopscotch-under-the-underpass holiday was also where we had the tiniest apartment with a tin roof, which was why staying inside on a wet day was not an option!

Those wet, cramped holidays all cooped up together were merely a dress-rehearsal for now. I suppose the only positive now is that I can have insomnia in my own bed instead of on a rock-hard sofa bed!

Morning All. Lashing rain here too. We have an orange weather warning for rain in place.

Things moving backwards over here. More restrictions on. Now we have to wear a mask if in a car with someone not from our household, sport gone back to behind closed doors, 15 people for outdoor gatherings, 6 for indoors.

You can still go to a restaurant or pub serving food or a wedding with 50 people indoors. So why we can only have 6 people who we know and know where they have been in our homes I don't know.

Telling the over 70s to be careful and restrict their movements. Nothing about the food production factories where a lot of our latest cases have come from. Oh no, fuck over the little people and key big business carry on employing people and housing then in shite conditions.

The "experts" say its because we are more likely to hug the people we know than strangers in a restaurant, and we just can't be trusted to not do it.

Telling the over 70s to be careful bothers me too- fair enough to be careful, yes we know they may be more at risk due to age, but just keeping them inside & not interacting with others is cruel. Not everyone over 70 is decrepit. A lot of them volunteer, provide free childcare, spend money to benefit the economy, etc. The ones I know & love were making the most of life until this, & it has made them "old" through lack of social interaction & worry.

There are cases in food factories near me, which is worrying.

I am definitely worrying too much this week. Think I need to look at pictures of kittens or something, to neutralise it.

Hasn't this always been the way. Take climate change, as an example. Let's harangue regular people to use paper straws that turn to mulch and mix with your drink while big corporations continue to offload humongous quantities of pollutants. It's just easier to harass Susan next door and feel virtuous.

Don't get me wrong, I hate single use plastic. But it's the smug fuckwittery approach that riles me up.
