Adult collecting Sylvanian Families...

Can anyone make me feel better about this, maybe by sharing something they collect that is far too young for them...

I collected Sylvanian Families as a child, loved them so much. Got back into buying vintage ones on Ebay about ten years ago. Basically buying all the ones that I never got as a child. It makes me feel so nostalgic and snuggly. But I also feel guilty at how much money I have spent on them. Definitely over £1000 in my lifetime.

It's also not something I shout about due to the 'childish' nature of Sylvanians. Bit embarrassing!

Does anyone else collect anything a bit weird or too young for them?

I brought myself a vintage Polly pocket I was so excited about it. I thought my sons would show interest but they haven’t . I would absolutely love to collect Sylvianian families if I had the money!

Toy collecting is very common in the antiques / vintage world. As each generation gets older and has the spare cash to buy nostalgic items from their childhood, those toys increase in value (but they lose it again eventually because the toy collecting world is almost 100% about generational nostalgia).

I'm just starting with polly pockets. The original ones. I only have 2 and just bought my 3rd. But I love them and know I'm gonna buy more! It's fine as long as you can afford it! I'm kicking myself for not keeping them when I was a kid.

I have a vintage polly pocket Snow White and the SIX dwarves !

I was mooching on eBay looking for the missing dwarf and the witch when I found out that the cottage originally had working lights !
New battery and clean terminals and now mine lights up .
Still minus a dwarf and the witch but I love it .

My 13 year old this week suggested we get hers down from the loft to show her brother !
I’m sure she just wants to look through them all again
