What is your possession that you have owned for the longest and still have?

I'm guessing most people's longest owned possession must be some sort of teddy bear? Am I right? Mine is anyway, given to me on the day I was born and I still have. Looks a bit bedraggled now but I would be gutted to ever lose him!

Like you @BlueSkyPlease I still have my teddy bear. I suppose my other oldest things are family photos, but obviously they have only come into my care since Mum died. Her wedding ring too precedes my birth.

I have a school rugby jersey that I got when I was 15 - It's still in decent condition and still fits, so I still occasionally wear it! I'm now in my 50s Grin

The teddy and the Bible I was given when I was christened, 52 years ago.

Redcrayons · 09/07/2020 11:25

My teddy given to me by my godmother. Not entirely sure where it is, though. I used to quite regularly use my school calculator, though probably use my phone more now. I’ve also got my school dictionary and thesaurus. I haven’t used either for years and years. Right click in word takes seconds to do the same thing.

I also have my great grandmothers wedding ring, which is older than me, but I inherited it when she died so has only been mine for 10 years.

Yes, I have a toy rabbit that I was given when I was born. He's all flat now. I wasn't that bothered about him as a child but went through a stage of taking him to bed in my late teens/ early 20s. He's in a chest with a whole load of other soft toys right now.

madcatladyforever · 09/07/2020 11:29

My beautiful blue antique serving plate that I got for a wedding present on my first marriage in 1983.
I've had it for years and years then the sodding removal men were so careless with my stuff damaging the box and dropping it several times that it broke in half even thought it was in yards of bubble wrap and newspaper. I was so upset.
Although there is an older item, the silver flute my grandfather bought me in the 1960's. I haven't played for years and I can't find anyone to replace the bespoke finger pads.

This little ted bought for my Mum by my Dad before I was born. I'm guessing he's 58. This was part of a little range of sweetheart type gifts and this one has a tail that operates his head up and down/side to side. Another you could store a lipstick inside and another contained a mirror. From The Netherlands and I love him. I also have several toys from when I was born stored in the loft, one of whom I named (as a very young child) Flat Jonny Grin

My teddy was my godmothers teddy before she gave it to me so teddy H has got to be at least 65 years old. She got upgraded from the bedside table to the bed and dragged all round the house with me at Xmas time when my old dog was PTS and I had no one to give me a hug. 46 years old is not too old for a teddy surely?Blush

GurlwiththeCurl · 09/07/2020 11:57

My teddy, who is now 63 and still lives in my bedroom. He is very worn and threadbare now, but then so am I!

SeasonFinale · 09/07/2020 12:01

Mine is my ironing board! Grin

I moved back here from abroad at 17 with a suitcase of clothes all long gone and bought it then. Still have it (repadded and recovered) but still the same old board!

TankGirl97 · 09/07/2020 12:06

No teddies here. I do have my grandma's Le Creuset pot which I inherited as a teen and is still used several times a week.

SeaOtterFluff · 09/07/2020 12:20

Teddy, who was a present when I was born 46 years ago. He wears a knitted dress that my granny made for him in 1981 as his fur had worn away from his tummy. The woollen dress is also shredded but he's survived this long without falling apart entirely. I left him at home when I went to university because I thought I was too cool to sleep with a teddy bear. Mum posted him down to me after a week and I was so relieved!

What a great question!

Probably my Heidi books. My mum gave them to me when I was just old enough to be able to read them, 40-odd years ago. I’m pretty sure she read them to me (or the first one at least) before that, because I was so into the TV series. They were bought for her in the mid-1950s, so they’re falling apart a bit.

I’m currently reading Heidi’s Children. Such comfort!

My Teddy bear is 62 years old and bears the scars of being attacked by a dachshund.

thecatneuterer · 09/07/2020 15:18

My garden seat. It was made in the early 60s and used to belong to my grandparents. I remember sitting on it as a child. I've now had it 40 years or so and it's still as good as new. I keep changing the colour for fun. This year it's pink. I'm pretty sure it will outlive me.

My cabbage patch kid 😊 she is 32!

DiddlySquatty · 09/07/2020 15:25

My musical instrument

BigSpringy · 09/07/2020 15:27

A copy of Black Beauty that only has about 50% o the pages still attached to the spine, the rest are just loose.

As a child, I think I read it close to 100 times, starting when I was about 8 years old.

fourquenelles · 09/07/2020 15:30

Flaky my first teddy bought for me when I was one by my granddad. I'm 65 this year so he's an old 'un.

FinallyHere · 09/07/2020 17:34

Teddy here too, from my first Christmas.

Now DH was terrified when he first saw what thirty years of my love have done to the poor creature.

user1494055864 · 09/07/2020 17:48

I don't have any of my favourite toys, but I have my 47 year old hospital name band.

CyberPixie · 09/07/2020 19:09

No teddies, never kept any past the age of 11.

I have clothes from the age of 17 though. Over 25yrs ago!

marypoppinsreturns · 09/07/2020 19:11

My silver cross dolls pram, a birthday present when I was 4, I'm now 46! Can't bring myself to part with it as my gran bought me it, but my husband would love me to get shot of it!
