Been doing it for two years now. I don't even get drunk anymore . It's a habit . I work from home so it doesn't affect me driving or anything . No kids at home. Partner works away mostly .
Is it really bad ? Do others drink this much ? Don't really know why I'm posting . I don't even know if I want to stop Confused

I am an Alcoholic over 17years in recovery.I would never presume to tell people they are Alcoholics,we never do that in Alcoholics Anonymous.

Exactly.

Truly hope you get through this and you will xxx

Forgetting about the label for a moment, it's an unhealthy amount of alcohol for her liver to process and seems to be experiencing mild withdrawal symptoms.

As I've said previously, it's a progressive condition, and much easier to deal with now than it will be later if nothing changes.

Flyingarcher · 07/07/2020 19:48

Well done for getting to late afternoon before craving. That is progress. Best of luck. You are doing so well and it will be full of ups and downs but will get better.

I’m try looking at Soberistas online for advice and support. I was in a similar place to you in 2017 and had had enough and was worried. It’s a big step to decide to add up what you are actually drinking per week and think about making a change.
Soberistas is full of people in a similar place and is the reason I haven’t had a drink since February 2017. It’s got to be worth a look, best wishes x

Hi there Sorry I just saw this thread and hope that OP finds support through other forums on mumsnet - when I read the OP about not feeling drunk anymore - I wonder if that is because your tolerance to it has increased over the years ? My husband is currently 19 days sober (as he tells me) following recent admission to hospital with alcoholic hepatitis - this has been after several years of drinking - he is 34 years old - he was until recently up to drinking approximately 200 units a week - his story and journey is different to yours but I truly hope you find recovery as addiction is a terrible illness xx

Sounds like a fast track to pancreatitis to me. Which is unimaginably painful.

Patbutcherismyhero · 07/07/2020 20:48

@heartsonacake you're really not helping. Pipe down.

HMSSophie · 07/07/2020 22:11

OP yes I did - finally - just stop. One New Year's Eve at midnight I poured the last half bottle down the sink, as I'd spent the evening drinking, bored, lonely (although living with a DP) and profoundly unhappy.

Some great posts here

'' nightly fight with the wine witch ''

Great line. Its easy to fall down the rabbit hole. What some of people are describing about the worry, is there enough for the night etc is how I used to feel about fags.

It is really liberating to not have to think about these things.

I'm usually a certain weight, give or take a few pounds.
last year I had to work away a lot and although the work was over a computer (just needed to be in the district) I had a lot of free time in evenings and really got into drinking wine.

after around 3 months I had gain a stone.
my diet and activity had not changed, in fact I was more active - and it was NOT muscle!

when I packed the wine in, it fell off. so if you are bothered about weight gain (which you don't have to be!) there's some data.

I often buy two jack Daniels mini's of an evening. I have them with ice.
I always feel, if its more than 3 times per week, that it gets in the way of things, like yoga, meditation, art (my job) and other stuff.

there's often a correlation between stress and regular drinking, even if you feel happy. for me personally more than 3 times a week is too much for my self balance, my health.

a bottle a night won't seem much if you're used to it, but it depends what you want and what you perceive your future to contain.

beatrixpotterspencil · 07/07/2020 22:44

I mean, its ok for a while, going through a phase, coping with a stressor, but its not really great if its permanent.

beatrixpotterspencil · 07/07/2020 22:47

or it could become....

A bottle of wine every day
