Slight tweak to the suggestion, but here it is.

@110APiccadilly are you a Dorothy L Sayers fan by any chance ? ( a bit off topic on these threads I know!)

Nihiloxica · 05/07/2020 18:23

The weather is gross here today - rainy and windy (but warm).

DC2 and I went out for out C25K run and got caught in a hailstorm Shock

Our week of sloth has to end tomorrow. We are all getting up so late it's ridiculous.

HesterShaw1 · 05/07/2020 18:31

I am back at work tomorrow.

Now the time has actually come, I feel incredibly apprehensive. Eurgh.... other people.

It will be fine, it will be fine, it will be fine (repeat to fade)

countrygirl99 · 05/07/2020 18:34

DS1s Chinese girlfriend is cooking for us tonight. She cooks proper Chinese food using ingredients with labels we can't read😊. Not sure what it is tonight but it smells amazing. Makes up for our favourite restaurants not being open yet.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 05/07/2020 18:52

Mmmmn pangolin!

110APiccadilly · 05/07/2020 18:54

@pollyhemlock
Ooh, someone who recognises my username! Yes I am! Smile

MinesaPinot · 05/07/2020 19:00

We went to my mum's this morning for one of her gutbuster breakfasts. It was so lovely to see her after so long. We took some shopping and the papers and chatted and it was all so normal. Dropped some disposable masks in to friends on the way home. 'would we like a beer and a glass of wine'? What do you think?

It was all fab.

Allflightscancelled · 05/07/2020 19:02

I wanted it @Barkandcheese thanks! I wanted to add it to the thread called 'I have such a serious crush on Matt Hancock' but I've just tried and it didn't work. I'm a techno twit. If anyone else fancies trying please do 🤣

Orangeblossom78 · 05/07/2020 19:03

Ugh think of grabbing him by his pink tie and having a snog!

Allflightscancelled · 05/07/2020 19:04

Insane 🤣🤣🤣

countrygirl99 · 05/07/2020 19:04

Insane naughty, it's more likely bat

Shodan · 05/07/2020 19:08

I found out that my favourite transport-caff-style-place is reopening tomorrow! At last I can have a proper greasy fry up again Grin

I noticed something at class yesterday and discussed it with my fellow instructor, who agreed he'd noticed the same thing-I appear to have lost the ability to tune out background noise, when talking to an individual.

So he and I were talking in the hall after class, and two others were talking a few feet away- and I found it so hard to concentrate on just his voice. This hasn't ever happened before and we wondered if it was because we've had months of no crowds/people around us?

Very strange. I assume it'll come back though.

SummerHouse · 05/07/2020 19:09

It will be fine @HesterShaw1

It will totally be fine. You might even enjoy it in a novelty type way.

MinesaPinot · 05/07/2020 19:09

@BubbleIsNotAFuckingVerb that is so sad. Handhold for you and your friend.

rookiemere · 05/07/2020 19:13

Shodan its the readapting isn't it ?
I feel totally exhausted after yesterday's trip to the zoo and today's coastal visitalthough might just be carb overload from the fish supper. We've got into a forced routine of not doing very much apart from walking the dog so the novelty of something different has wiped me out.

Drivingdownthe101 · 05/07/2020 19:15

I just had to fish a giant 💩 out of the bath.

KaronAVyrus · 05/07/2020 19:20

Met up with one of my oldest friends today. Haven’t seen her for months. I feel like I’m gradually reclaiming my life.

Dowser · 05/07/2020 19:23

@rookiemere
Glad it’s just not me then

Drivingdownthe101 · 05/07/2020 19:23

Apart from the 💩, it’s been a fairly good day today. Went to a friend’s house this morning who has similar aged kids, the DC had a great time water bombing each other. Then a trip to the playground, then roast pork for dinner. Almost a normal Sunday!

BlackberryViolet · 05/07/2020 19:24

Shodan, I’ve had the same thing. Sitting in EE trying to sort dds phone out. I was really struggling to hear him as I couldn’t filter out the music or the conversation going on in the doorway. I dread to think what I signed up to!

I did wonder if my woolly brain had struck again. All through this lockdown I’ve struggled to concentrate, reading emails again and again to try and understand them. I’m a bloody statistician and I should be all over these stats but I just look at them and think huh??

MaudesMum · 05/07/2020 19:24

Feeling much more positive this weekend. My town is coming, slowly, back to life. On Saturday I went to the market to buy cheese and veg, then went to the butchers, and then wandered round most of the small independent shops, looking for presents for my sisters birthday, and maybe a teeny thing or two for myself - which is pretty much what I'd have done 6 months ago. And, on local Facebook this morning, people were reporting back very similar- including someone who'd had a nice evening at a re-opened pizza place. All positivity, no stupid comments...

I also have regular catch-ups on zoom with a group of friends who are more risk averse than I am. They're not dementors at all - no-one judged me for my escapade last weekend where I went to see family and ended up having a great time at my nephew's 18th Birthday party - but it was quite clear that they wouldn't have done that. However, by the end of last night's talk, we had pretty much agreed to meet up in a couple of weeks time indoors....

wanderings · 05/07/2020 19:24

@Allflightscancelled It's disappointing the way that churches have forced to be even more restrictive than the shops; being cheerleaders for the government; flying the flag saying "thank you NHS"; is this the new religion? Hearing the new restrictions (especially no singing) makes me not want to go back at all until we've left Planet Hysteria. Although organ music is allowed after the service, it must not be too loud "because people might shout".

It's interesting to wonder how it might have been if this was at a time when far more people went to church, I doubt if the churchgoing public would have stood for it. There would have been slogans such as "if we die in church, it's God's will". (I think we accepted the lockdown far too readily anyway.)

On the plus side, I've seen a few playgrounds open today, and in use. On 3rd July I saw the ironic combination of signs on a playground: one saying it was closed until further notice, and another next to it saying "Play is vital for children's health". No shit, Sherlock.

Dowser · 05/07/2020 19:25

@PickAChew
I know and it was a place we could get a decent gf and df meal on the meerkats
I wonder if all those restaurants on the meerkats are struggling

Drivingdownthe101 · 05/07/2020 19:27

Although I’ve just seen that our council have said they’re not opening playgrounds... so the one we went to today has been broken into by an AD Grin

rookiemere · 05/07/2020 19:28

@Drivingdownthe101 gosh it's been many years since I've had to tackle a poo in the bath, DS had a spate of them for a while. Must remember to remind him next time he deigns us with his presence.

I had to fish a snail out of the hot tun yesterday, if that's in any way similar Wink?
