Slight tweak to the suggestion, but here it is.

Still no playgrounds today. But we did walk up to the woods and CAUGHT THE BUS HOME! Very exciting; it was DH and the DCs first time on public transport since early March. And now we’ve done it once we’ll be emboldened to go even further afield next week, maybe even past zone 3!
Now eating takeout pizza and watching Time Bandits with the children Grin

RubberDinghyRapids · 05/07/2020 19:34

@Drivingdownthe101 DD has done that twice in her 17 months. Both times when DH went out for the evening so I was doing bathtime (he usually does it whilst I do washing up/put washing away etc). She's to young to have done it on purpose though, right? Hmm

Littlebelina · 05/07/2020 19:35

We've been to the playground today where dd ran round like a mad thing, ds went on the LITERAL DEATH slide and DH and I got slightly stoned from second hand pot from the teenagers in the corner.

Also had our regular walk but featured ice cream today.

It’s DS’s first one I think (he’s 18 months) but DD2 was prone to them! DD1 refused to go in the bath with her as it was such a regular occurrence.

Mascotte · 05/07/2020 19:37

Well, today has been awful. Weather awful, nothing to do but count the hours til I can reasonably go to bed. So.. I fix the obvious and booked myself a few nights in France for a fortnight's time! Cancellable to allow for changes. I just can't face months and months of this here and desperately need some respite. So.. fingers crossed!

Mascotte · 05/07/2020 19:38

@HesterShaw1 I reckon the thought of it will be stressful but it will be fine once you're back in.

psychomath · 05/07/2020 19:38

Fingers crossed for you Mascotte!

Spudlet · 05/07/2020 19:41

DH took DS to a playground today, while I finished the decorating! He was so happy, apparently, although he did make something of a scene when it was time to leave 😬

Can’t wait to take him myself during the week ❤️

AdultFishcakes · 05/07/2020 19:41

OMG high 5 to you @Mascotte

Dowser · 05/07/2020 19:43

@110APiccadilly
Would love to know what you thought of the experience
3 out of my 6 grandchildren have never been to school
They are 16, 13 and 20
You’re So right
What’s been happening is not home edding
I’m so proud of my dd and their achievements
I’m so sad my 16 year old hasn’t had chance to sit GCSEs
He’s been one day a week along with a class of other home eddies for not sure if it’s one or two years In three subjects
They are lovely children
All 6 of them
My greatest wish is to be allowed to stay here for as long as possible to see them into adult hood
I’d like to see my only granddaughters 40 th
I’ll be 98
If that happens

rookiemere · 05/07/2020 19:44

Mascotte I think France is the most likely country to materialise as actually allowed to go with FCO advice lifted and everything, and a fortnight is good timing as it's long enough for things to become more definite, but not too long to allow for any further local lockdowns.

In other news, I was requested to clap again for the NHS at 5pm by the local online dementor of our neighbourhood group. I thought this clapping malarkey was over. Thankfully nobody was out on the street including our neighbours DS who used to play the bagpipes on Thursday evening and always set rookiedog off something rotten.

PickAChew · 05/07/2020 19:48

Hopefully, you'll have a fab time, @mascotte

Reddit is being rather dementory about the pubs opening. The trump anti-mask vs anti-trump mask thing seems to have completely destroyed any scope for nuanced discussion.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 05/07/2020 19:51

Fingers crossed @Mascotte
I've got the excitement of trying to get hold of tui tomorrow to see what the hell is going on with our break.

I'll need another bloody holiday soon to get over this one.

I made the mistake of engaging with a dementor on FB earlier going on about how covid is out of control in england.

I said "approx 25k cases in a population of 58 million, cases falling consistently, hospital admissions falling. We had a pretty awful couple of months but for the first time in a long time, it does feel like its under control"
Huge mistake.

I'm shattered, I'm fed up and I just want to see my family. Feel like I'm not having a great day today.

Dowser · 05/07/2020 19:52

@Mascotte
Wow brave woman we never thought when we bought this caravan 3 years ago it would be such a haven of respite in these troubled times

We had a weekend beginning of feb
Three days when we came back from Tenerife and had to leave at lockdown
4 day vista last month and now having 2 nights
So far our nights stay works out at £285 per night
Normally we’d have had close to 50 nights by now
Will be back, Wednesday if I’m in a fit state after dentist
Or Thursday

Willitneverend · 05/07/2020 19:55

There's someone on our local FB complaining about the not clapping thing. We did go out and do it during lockdown but just skulked inside this time!

110APiccadilly · 05/07/2020 19:55

@Dowser I really enjoyed being home educated, although as I never went to school I can't say whether I'd have enjoyed that too, to be fair. But I had a very happy childhood, and seem to have picked up a decent education somewhere along the way! I'm actually quite academic so it's certainly not held me back in that regard.

I think the acid test is that DH and I are very seriously considering it for the bump that I'm currently growing.

Dowser · 05/07/2020 19:55

Rookiedog lol
We nearly had a dowserdog..This week . well not really
But we discuss almost getting one

Littlebelina · 05/07/2020 19:56

The clap didn't really happen here either, I heard one car horn in the distance and think one set of neighbours went out briefly. Sort of forgot about it myself.

@HesterShaw1, it'll be fine once you are there. I've been going in sometimes for a couple of weeks now and it feels nearly normal

Dowser · 05/07/2020 19:59

@110APiccadilly
I wanted to home Ed my children but one born with special needs just wanted conducive to it , that and a bout of pneumonia putting me in hospital and I’ll for months after .. just couldn’t do it

There wasn’t the infrastructure then either

Here’s a special for you guys. I think you might enjoy a good Covid party. What’s not to like, a great not socially distanced party, a chance to get Covid and earn money at the same time?

Bellesavage · 05/07/2020 20:03

@ssd no she's a strictly margarita girlz although it's the ceremony of going out I think she misses most, meeting the waiting staff who spoil her, doing the colouring sheets at the table etc. Hopefully things will open up soon.

thenightsky · 05/07/2020 20:04

I've got the excitement of trying to get hold of tui tomorrow to see what the hell is going on with our break.

We had a holiday booked with Tui (should've been in Madeira this week) and they've been nothing but excellent all along with us. So much so, I've rebooked with them for next year and taken advantage of their offer of a 20% more expensive hotel at no cost to us.

rookiemere · 05/07/2020 20:06

Dowser we were debating selling rookiedog during lockdown due to the sky high prices he could command

But even for £5000 we couldn't give him up, now if anyone wants to make us an offer for the surly teen we're all ears.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 05/07/2020 20:08

@thenightsky my relative walked her dog the other night and saw that our hotel is closed. Apparently it's not opening either.

We are supposed to go in a few weeks and now I've no idea what's happening.

This has already been moved from May and cost us 700 odd quid to move already. All the other options so far are even more £££
We only found this out Friday and as tui arent open weekends now I've to wait til tomorrow to try and get to the bottom of it.

Nihiloxica · 05/07/2020 20:09

What kind of price can you get for a fat, lazy middle aged woman who likes drinking and sleeping?
