@justasking111 they did here in tayside. The big hospital was for covid and Perth was “clean”.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 05/07/2020 14:41

Big hospital in Dundee I mean.

justasking111 · 05/07/2020 14:42

Insane - glad to see the scots are capable of joined up thinking at least.

Yep. Once the cafes opened for sit down meals or coffees everyone now has to wear a bloody visor at my work too. Funny how were weren't a threat on Friday but suddenly are on Saturday! Customers are baffled🤣🤣

Well i went on a thread and bit. Sarcastic fecking post about 3 in about op not being called a murderer ever for having to go to a supermarket to buy sanitary stuff months ago when staying inside 24/7 unless you were clapping like fuck once a week was the only acceptable behaviour on here! Either poster wasn't here or has a fecking short memory.

Absolutely no need to be a smartass when someone states something that happened to them which had hundreds of witnesses!

Have stepped away from the my dd should wear a mask thread. Some poster recommending buyjng her a visor as they are much easier! No they bloody well arent they are a pia. They steam up you can't see, they give you a headache and customers cant hear you! And they pull the stupid hat's and hair nets we have to wear off when we take the visor off if its quiet, so have to faff with that too. I went to ask my manager to do something on Sat and they said "I can't hear you! Those things are awful for actually talking to someone" That was from a foot away! So imagine talking to customers through a visor, 2 feet away from a big perspex screen. No wonder customers stand at the side of the screen to order🤣

Have done kitchen so now need to push myself to do bathroom...oh joy.

DominaShantotto · 05/07/2020 14:53

Oh god the shit I've had off my mother for daring to go to Hobbycraft without wearing a mask. She's not very happy when I replied that unless they're properly fitted PPE level they offer minimal protection to the wearer and only serve to protect others and called me a frustrating smartarse.

She's just pissed off I got to go shopping basically.

justasking111 · 05/07/2020 14:56

Wales1 death, 15 confirmed cases in 24 hours. BBC and other media trying to whip it up into a disaster, half of parents worried about going back to school. Heroes working on contact tracing, For god sake.

Supermarketworker06 · 05/07/2020 14:58

bubbles sorry about your friend. Similar happened to my friend; her dad died of various issues, not covid related, and although she'd been allowed to see him previously in hospital, she wasn't there at the end. Sending hugs.

Willow2017 · 05/07/2020 15:00

Oh fuck fuck fuckity fuck. Just realused i need to go to a shop for baccy or I will run out later. Muzzle here I come.😠

countrygirl99 · 05/07/2020 15:06

The news in Bedford is that the high rate of infection is women of working age. Given the most affected area I'd lay money on them being women working in low paid roles like caring or cleaning.

Mascotte · 05/07/2020 15:22

@Dicotyledon definitely the place to post it! Love cheery news and am excited to get out again too 😊

Allflightscancelled · 05/07/2020 15:23

willow yep they're shit alright. dd spent most of the shift peering at everything until she realised she'd left the protective coating on the visor 🤣. But apparently it's not much better without it😒

Customers in her shop are refusing to give their name and phone number, and complaining about not being able to choose where they sit.

Willow2017 · 05/07/2020 15:48

Some people will be awkward about it. I am dreading my turn to 'host' as wont be able to actually see if the furthest away tables are free due to all the damm persex screens! We have to space customers out i.e
not go table 1 please, table 2 please. We also have to make sure people aren't coming in the exit at the other end! But apparently it all went reasonably ok on Sat and wasn't as busy as they thought it would be. (That will all change when i go back into work nothing surer🤣)
Customers cant clear thier tables we have to do it and clean them twice!
I have no idea what happens to the customer info I meant to ask if its put on the gov site or what. That's the only reason I can think anyway as its pointless anyway. We have to keep it for 3 weeks then destroy it. Bet admin are over the moon at all the extra work! But as we can't actually insist on it I suspect it will disappear pdq. I wouldn't be giving my details to some random in a shop no matter if i know they probably don't even look at it, where it sits in a pile on a counter or hosts table till end of service!
Someone was saying taxi drivers have to record where customers are going i.e to the pub! Fecking hell as if we aren't monitored enough with tech now we are expected to be reporting each other's movements.

Oh and apparently us AD's are just as bad at hysterics as the Ds are! Challenging the hysterics is just as bad as the vile accusations and name calling. Said my piece about some of the ve things I read and scaremongering and critical thinking etc but won't be back its too depressing that anyone thinks that.

Willow2017 · 05/07/2020 16:03

How the hell can anyone on here say they weren't sure if "murdering your granny" was ever actually said on mn?

Is there a collective memory loss associated with this shitstorm?

Ah yes the denying. I saw that. I felt like commenting but I stopped myself.
IAintentDead · 05/07/2020 16:12

Hi All.
Went to my daughter's yesterday. Wine and pizza (lots of both), sat up until gone 3am chatting and putting the world to rights and came home this lunchtime. I've only just caught up with reading the end of the last thread and this one so far.

She lives close to an out of town centre that is largely populated with younger people. A normal Saturday evening she would hear at least half a dozen sirens. Last night there was one - quite noticeable because they have been so absent recently. There is also a pub next door, known for occasionally getting rowdy. We could hear them all evening and it was so normal - just the sound of adult humans having a good time. You can really tell if the voices change and become hard and aggressive - didn't happen at all last night.

Someone mentioned Homestart on the last thread. I used to be a volunteer and one of my families was a single parent with IVF triplets (Dad left a few months after they were born because 'she'd changed and wasn't paying him enough attention'. 😕😕😕 🙄). She just used to go to bed for 2 hours and I would have 3 x 10 month olds to look after. It was the only time she slept properly because she didn't have to keep an ear out for them. They were 2 by the time I stopped going.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 05/07/2020 16:14

Ibake I just wanted to respond to the image you posted about the potential extra 27k deaths and say I agree with you.

I had no idea before the pandemic about how many people died in an average year. 600k+ honestly shocked me. I think. But if you showed me the figures for 10 years in a row and said, well one year there were 700k or, I don't know, 677k or whatever, I don't think I'd bat an eyelid. I'd wonder if it had been a bad flu year, I think.

If you told me we normally had 600K and there was one anomalous year where it topped out at 1.2 million or something, I'd say, wow, what happened? It would make sense to hear there was a pandemic and I'd think it was sad but even then I would say it's still in the territory of being a relatively small number overall and a relatively minor pandemic when you look at the size of our population and how overcrowded we are (and how shit we are about caring for our poor stressed planet).

27k is nowhere near enough for us to destroy our economy and shut people up indoors where they're at risk of all sorts of harm. I can still feel sympathy for those who lose loved ones if they are part of the 27k but we aren't sitting here wailing and gnashing our teeth about the many who die of cancer or malaria or TB are we?

Dowser · 05/07/2020 16:23

Yayy in york with some decent internet at last.
We came to york looking for wild parties outside pubs..nada, nothing
Anyway MrDowser is enjoying his first pub pint outside a little bar / tea room and im having peppermint tea.

Went to the new home bargains on the ring road.
Wow they’ve really upped their game with the fresh food section.
Got some nice rhubarb and ginger gin and Mr D got spiced rum, oh I think I snucked a bottle of Parma violet gin in as well..it’s only what we’ve had spent at Bella italia ..if it wasn’t shut.

In HB a muzzled mum was pushing her muzzled son in a trolley
How many times did they repeat themselves to one another
Sad and I feel angry

@chocolatesweets
Get activating..please..it’s ridiculous
We queued outside HB but no one paid any attention inside

Imagine driving a car down a busy dual carriageway with all sorts of goodies stacked on shelves at the side of the road.
Carnage..yep

DominaShantotto · 05/07/2020 16:24

Oh don’t venture into the “who has done their home learning” thread- although I’d love mine to be able to repeat the lost year as they’ve had great teachers this time round.

Lots of blaming mummies for neglecting the often non existent home learning work

Drivingdownthe101 · 05/07/2020 16:26

We have been to a playground!!! We were more likely to catch some sort of avian flu from it than Covid due to the vast amounts of bird shit everywhere.

Dowser · 05/07/2020 16:28

@IAintentDead
How lovely of you
That poor mum
My friend at 45 had three triplet babies as a single mum and she had people doing shifts to help her.
I’ve never seen anyone so fulfilled in all my life
Positively beams from ear to ear

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 05/07/2020 16:29

Oh God, don’t get me started on the threads blaming mothers (and it is mothers, let’s face it) for not being able to plan and deliver a curriculum to two children of different ages while simultaneously working from home and keeping everyone adequately fed. It’s insulting to teachers, apart from anything else, to suggest that what they do is so easy that we ought all to be able to do it in tandem with another job.

I got sucked into one of those and was more unpleasant than I should have been to someone who was Ms Perfect and couldn’t see why other people couldn’t all be like her, so I’m avoiding them.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 05/07/2020 16:33

@TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair quite. The measures we’ve taken would’ve made more sense if we’d turned black and died within hours with bodies piling up on the streets.

I don’t doubt I’d get a nasty dose... but my risk hasn’t gone anywhere.

Duckyneedsaclean · 05/07/2020 16:35

My council isn't opening playgrounds! Just absolute cunts (pardon my French). They also encouraged schools & nurseries not to open, causing my twins' nursery to backtrack and cancel opening.

I'm so pissed off with how children are basically canon fodder in this shitshow. Considering going down & hopping the fence..

Duckyneedsaclean · 05/07/2020 16:36

Sad to say, Bella itslis is part of the group that includes cafe rouge and Las iguanas. They won't be re-opening.
