Slight tweak to the suggestion, but here it is.

@LivinLaVidaLoki thank you. That's helpful. I think my question was probably premature as we won't know yet how many deaths to come from the outbreaks such as those in Leicester and Dumfries and Galloway.

CruCru · 05/07/2020 13:59

@BubbleIsNotAFuckingVerb I'm really sorry to read about your friend. Honestly, post whatever you like on these threads.

torydeathdrug · 05/07/2020 14:00

@LivinLaVidaLoki thanks for the numbers! I noticed a distinct absence of noticing the all locations average Sad Deaths falling below 100. The hospital number must be very small now, I’m going to try & find it.

Littlebelina · 05/07/2020 14:02

Sorry to hear that bubbles Flowers

torydeathdrug · 05/07/2020 14:02

@Mascotte certainly the Leicester infections are affecting a younger population group (mostly under 40 iirc) so I wouldn’t expect to see much impact from that on to admissions or deaths. Obviously it is more concerning if it starts spreading to the elderly.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 05/07/2020 14:07

There’s a “technical fault” in Scotland for the sadly dead today. Queen Nicola is anxiously ringing around care homes all over Lanarkshire saying “hello? Covid bearers? it’s just possible you could save my life...”. She needs a number damnit.

justasking111 · 05/07/2020 14:07

So sorry Bubbles that is hard for you. Phone the hospital I know they were using technology to retrieve messages so that you could speak to loved ones with covid.

So cross at the media showing drunks in city centres in England, I bet almost all of england towns and villages had people going out for a couple of drinks then going home. But that is not interesting enough

BogRollBOGOF · 05/07/2020 14:08

I just had to go upstairs to fetch a second tin of beans and realised that we have just over 50 tins in the house, so it's just as well I didn't get another 24 pack in Costco the other night. Let it not be said that Bogroll is being entirely flippant about all this lockdown/ quarantine malarky Grin

(We did a couple of bulk buys at Costco in Feb/ early March so by the time the panic buying kicked in I only needed a fresh top-up) We're keeping it topped up for a while yet.

CruCru · 05/07/2020 14:09

According to Worldometer, there were 624 new cases and 67 deaths recorded yesterday. However, the Times Coronavirus Update (gets emailed out) gives these as 6,177 and 152 - as a result the totals don't match up. Presumably whoever types these in has used the data from another country (unless I'm missing something).

RubberDinghyRapids · 05/07/2020 14:10

@ssd

So sorry bubbles, that's awful Flowers

For everyone talking about food shopping deliveries, don't forget Iceland, they gave loads if in frozen stuff and I always get a delivery the next day.. And free over £35

Plus they sell Greggs frozen sausage rolls and steak slices Grin

Sorry to hear about your friend Bubble Thanks I agree, I think a voice note or video would be a good idea. We did this for FIL when he was in hospital recently. DH and DD did a very sweet video... until she very audibly started trumping through it. We sent it anyway and he was thankfully very amused.

justasking111 · 05/07/2020 14:10

Pissed off with NHS wanting another 10 billion they have done well with covid but everything else neglected. They want some of the money for BUPA SPIRE hospitals so that they can do the ops. Talk about outsourcing

Well what about the people and companies who pay into these systems annually or monthly and have done for years. £1200 per annum I pay in advance and I cannot get seen, nor can DH even though he gave them 7k for an operation they cancelled the night before and still will not do. Ummm... he has paid for it.

Orangeblossom78 · 05/07/2020 14:13

Says in the Times today they are going to use the Nightingale hospitals to catch up with cancer tests. That Sakora professor talking about it

I get the numbers from the govt data. That's the same as worldometer. God knows where the Times have got theirs from.

also the covid volunteers not doing anything...wonder why they don't use them to help the elderly or something. www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/news/coronavirus-140-000-nhs-volunteers-left-idle-w223gxkc7

torydeathdrug · 05/07/2020 14:18

England only rolling 7 day average for hospital only covid +ve deaths is 33.7. (France on July 4th was 18, they had 528 new cases that day. They don’t announce their care homes deaths with that daily number)

At least they'll finally be put to good use. I think it's disgusting cancer tests were ever delayed when we know how early you catch it is one of the most important bloody things.
ineedaholidaynow · 05/07/2020 14:30

The nightingale hospital near us is being used for diagnostics tests etc for non-covid patients

Dicotyledon · 05/07/2020 14:32

I don’t know if this is the place to post, but it seems it. I went to the pub today and it was fab. Like being 18 all over again.

justasking111 · 05/07/2020 14:32

Our nightingale in Llandudno is being used for ante natal checks.

Our hospitals well god knows what they are doing my friend is redesigning the staff room to pass the time in one of them.

MaxNormal · 05/07/2020 14:34

HesterShaw1 I so get you with the temperature thing. I feel the cold horribly, can't stand winter - why oh why do I live in fucking Scotland? - and I just think ffs wind your neck in when you see people complaining about the tiny little sliver of warmer weather we occassionally see.

bubbles I am so sorry about your friend, how heart-breaking.

justasking111 · 05/07/2020 14:35

It is ironic somehow that cancer, maternity has been outsourced already. At least they will not hopefully be exposed to covid.

Here is my problem our health board have three hospitals. Why can they not assign one of them to covid patients and all the problems re transmission and leave the other two to deal with everything else that patients need, or is that too simple.

Orangeblossom78 · 05/07/2020 14:35

our local hospital is trying to encourage people back in for outpatients appts.

FizzFan · 05/07/2020 14:35

Totally agree @torydeathdrug. Same as schools. We were up at my son’s school for parents night before lockdown, hundreds of parents, teachers and kids crammed in, at a time when the virus was apparently rife, without as far as I know any or wholesale sadly dead, but after 5 months and 1 in several thousand people having it it will literally murder to send the kids back in August. Absolutely ludicrous

AgentCooper · 05/07/2020 14:37

@BubbleIsNotAFuckingVerb I’m so sorry about your friend. I am getting more and more furious with the inhumane treatment of people because of this. My wee goddaughter has been told she is no longer a priority for her CAMHS psychologist sessions ‘due to the pandemic’ and won’t be receiving any more. I won’t go into detail as it’s not my place but it is heartbreaking. She is a wee girl with complex needs who really needs support. Her mum is probably the strongest person I know but she’s at breaking point. I don’t know how child psychology sessions can be so affected by a fucking viral pandemic, not the same area at all.
