Deep breaths @DominaShantotto...in for four and out for eight.

It seems as though they want to contain this within Leicester itself and reading between the lines, it is possibly being attributed to the ethnic/cultural make up of the city. But they don't want to say that because of racism accusations particularly during these troubled times.

I take it you live in the East Midlands somewhere near to, but not in Leicester itself? Sorry if you don't want to be specific.

I’m in Leicestershire but about 20 miles from the city so think (hope) we’ll be spared. Although worst case scenario the local lockdown fails to contain it adequately so they expand the geographical area...
DominaShantotto · 29/06/2020 22:09

News is reporting it's back to no non essential journeys, no leaving the house level lockdown too, and the "at least" two weeks wording which terrifies me more than anything else.

I really think I'm going to have to play the mother's mental health card to the point of getting the kids onto social services radar if required to keep them in the non-educational keyworker provision. And a huge trigger and focus for my mental health issues was the fear of social services involvement but if that's what it's going to take I'll have to.

TheGreatWave · 29/06/2020 22:09

I am sure there will be those calling for a tighter lockdown.

Dowser · 29/06/2020 22:09

Here’s one of the results of my craft session with my lovely granddaughter

I’ve called it ‘Lockdown’
It depicts how my mind is all over the place. There’s plenty of bright moments interlaced with dark streaks cutting Through out the joy..and look at the dark cloud brewing on the left.

My life right now.

A lot of detail about exactly how these local lockdowns are going to work is needed. The exact reasons for them (numbers etc), what the restrictions will be, how long they are for, and what kind of numbers are needed to ease them.

Detail is absolutely key. It will help a little to alleviate the stress of uncertainty.

DominaShantotto · 29/06/2020 22:11

I'm just up the motorway - Notts/Derby border (I don't care if people doxx me - they can PM me for my location if they want the low effort way of internet harassment and I'll save them the bother) but it's very much a situation here where people will quite easily work or go to school in any of the three cities (I go to uni in Leicester)

Yes. They’ve announced it with no real detail and left everyone in limbo. A shambles.
torydeathdrug · 29/06/2020 22:13

Matt Hancock said the Government would publish ward-level data on the outbreak in Leicester and where the lockdown will apply "soon".

^ Wankers Angry this should be available at the time of the announcement. They are such cavalier bastards.

Teateaandmoretea · 29/06/2020 22:14

Yep, let’s get the army in 🙄

domina try and stay calm. It’s utterly shit, but don’t do anything that you may regret later. We’re all here and I really think this is a storm in a teacup. Wancock is just showing 💪💪

FizzFan · 29/06/2020 22:15

I really think there will be riots

Me too

All this shite can’t continue. It’s ridiculous.

Mascotte · 29/06/2020 22:15

This is what they did when they announced the first lockdown; it's the shock and the unknown that's so bad. This is shite.

Theluggage15 · 29/06/2020 22:16

Domina. Keep going, if there’s no improvement in 2 weeks, it proves locking down is a waste of time anyway. I am sorry it’s so horrible for you.

I am suspicious on why he can’t give the info out immediately and why local councillors seemed not to know what was going on and didn’t think things were that bad.

Teateaandmoretea · 29/06/2020 22:16

And to put it in perspective with that update I’m not sure you live much closer to Leicester than me. The outbreak according to Zoe is the south side of Leicester.

HesterShaw1 · 29/06/2020 22:16

It's awful. It's like psychological torture at a government level. That is the kind of information which should be out there FIRST, not leaving people terrified and guessing and thinking the worst. That is how you browbeat a population. It's another very disturbing tactic...if it is a tactic.

Teateaandmoretea · 29/06/2020 22:17

@HesterShaw1 I’m convinced this is totally a tactic. It’s a move in the great covid game of chess.

MagdaS · 29/06/2020 22:20

@DominaShantotto I feel for you. The uncertainty must be dreadful. Do what you can (other than hurting yourself) to keep your children in school.

I live on the very outskirts of a big city (the boundary is within walking distance) but the inner part of my Council area is part of the bigger city centre, so I’m sure this is coming for us in due course. And our mayor is a right dementor so he’s love it. Sad

Bollss · 29/06/2020 22:20

Its not like psychological torture. It IS psychological torture.

We have no freedom anymore do we. They can just take it away, at will, just like that with no explanation, no reason, no end date. Evil, evil bastards. How many lives will this save I wonder? Probably none because abuse and suicide will be through the roof.

Dowser · 29/06/2020 22:20

Thank you, I just feel the need to apologise at the way it popped up inappropriately in the middle of an awful bit of news.

I’m south side! But quite a way out.

Don’t apologise!

Weedsnseeds1 · 29/06/2020 22:22

On the plus side, somebody has mislaid a 6 foot boa constrictor in Weston Super Mare, so the local dementor will be temporarily distracted, I hopeGrin

Dowser · 29/06/2020 22:23

@DominaShantotto
Ido hope there’s ways to work round it
I do hope newly reopened businesses will pull together and fight back
And the schools...
I certainly hope there is hope for the schools.
