Didn't know it was but apparently they had a minor earthquake in Oklahoma last night - I thought, damn, wish it had been big enough and swallowed Trump up.
No such luck.

I googled the question, not much info. I' m assuming Midnight so best go to work.

I didn't know the world was supposed to end today. Good. I've had enough of the world, all 4 of us will be together today and I don't have anything I am looking forward to in the future that will be ruined by the world ending.

If this was to do with solstice coinciding with eclipse - eclipse was at 7.42 ish am (not visible in U.K.) depending on where you are so I think we have already survived !?

The world ending wouldn't even make it into my top ten of shit things that have happened in the last 5 years. However it would be good to know a time as I need to make a call on whether or not to start peeling potatoes.

They need peeling if they're going to be roasted.

Not in this house they don't. They are lovely roasted with peel on and done with a bit of brine salt.

Well I loathe potato wedges and love roast potatoes. My fear would be if I didn’t peel roast tats wouldn’t they just be large wedge?? (Shudder).
Love mashed tats with peel on etc just hate wedges.

I'm not going to deny that you see aggression and threats from people with left wing views but don't kid yourself that the right aren't being equally vile and aggressive! These days threats and aggression seem acceptable in political 'debate' it's depressing.

They may be very nice done like that, but surely the effect would be more like a chunky wedge (unpeeled spuds, lightly parboil, shake up with some oil, salt, pepper and smoked paprika or chilli powder). For a proper roastie, peel, parboil longer, shake up to roughen and dry off a bit, toss in hot fat of choice. Both very good, but not the same as each other. The first goes with sausages etc, the second with 'Sunday lunch' with gravy.

I think that discussion of South American vegetables is an entirely appropriate way to occupy this thread for however much is left of today.

I'd like to know too. I've a big pile of washing needs putting away and I won't waste my time doing it if I don't have to.

I hate potato peeling but would always peel for a roast. I used to scoff at the whole parboil and shake etc and just Chuck them in oven with oil but it really does make them better.

Now wishing I had thought of having a roast today

2020 has been such a shit year globally that the world ending almost seems a bit meh.

I had no idea the world was due to end today. I probably won't bother with the ironing then. What a year eh
