Can I ask how you scent your bathroom?

Sorry to ask.

All the air freshers and reed diffusers I've tried smell very toilet-y. Most are completely overpowering and artificial. They have all been from supermarkets.

I just want a nice, subtle background scent when you walk in, is that too much to ask for?

I don't. I open a window, if it's not freezing. Sometimes the bathroom smells of whatever soap, cleaner or shampoo was last used. Sometimes it smells a bit musty and I need to find the source and wash or bin it. Sometimes it smells of shit.

And if i sprinkled lavender oil in it, that would be a guaranteed migraine for me.

Window open and bathroom fully cleaned every day, it smells of nothing in there. Well, not always nothing. If my eldest has curled one out, it smells like a dead rat in there!!

I like lavender, but any essential oil would do .... or not if you can’t use them / don’t like them, I was giving my tip not telling everyone Togo and do it

A box of matches is a good antidote to smelly poos - just light one.

Only found this out after finding a box of the big Cook’s matches in my brother’s downstairs loo. (Why on earth have you got matches in the loo?)
Would seem a method more popular with blokes than any flowery sprays. A good male smell, associated with lighting the barbecue and other primeval male rituals.

I put a few drops of lemon balm or lavender essence into a small bowl filled eith water.

I know exactly what you mean OP, my bathroom is kept clean and well aired but I actually like nice smells and use diffusers around the house. I spend a bit on them as I think this is a case of you get what you pay for! Also the better quality ones last longer so it's probably more cost effective in the long run. I love Max Benjamin diffusers.
