@DrearyWallAntler
233 today.
I was feeling quite optimistic when I saw hospital deaths were 93.

KaronAVyrus · 16/06/2020 15:25

@Drivingdownthe101

I for one don’t need a job or to put a roof over my head or food on my table. I will be forever great full to our great protector for keeping me safe but plunging me into poverty. To keep my child safe I will be forever in her servitude that my child will receive 1 day a week schooling. We are truly blessed in Scotland to be so safe and we must never question Nicola or indeed expect an adult conversation. Safety first and fundamental human rights last. Thank you oh great Nicola.

(Let’s just ignore that most of the deaths in Scotland were in care homes because Nicola had a policy of fast tracking patients out of hospital and into care homes untested. Although we knew from Italy that care homes were especially vulnerable🤦‍♀️)

LivinLaVidaLoki · 16/06/2020 15:25

@torydeathdrug
Love it!!

MooChops89 · 16/06/2020 15:26

Took my filthy scum self off to (gasp) Primark today... absolutely no queue, sailed straight in. No one way system, staff member just said go where you like as long as you keep your distance - fair enough! And do you know what - I had a fucking ball just chucking clothes in my basket willy nilly! Got everything I needed for my hospital bag and comfy things to lounge around in after baby is born, and loads of clothes for my DD who was fast running out of anything that fits.
I read that entire shopping thread yesterday, some of those comments had me howling with laughter. Some of them must have been joking, surely!

CarrotPuff · 16/06/2020 15:27

Oooh I've found my people, can I join please?

Very jealous of all your shopping trips, I'm stuck wfh though, but I've already told DP he'll be looking after kids over the weekend while I have some retail therapy in outlet shopping centre.

286 last Tuesday though... still going the right way!

No there are no Gregg's in Cornwall. I believe there was one Saltash, but they shut it again.

Talking of Cornwall there is a terrible kerfuffle today. One of the county councillors has gone rogue! He's made a statement in the Times basically saying "If you holiday in Cornwall this summer, your holiday will be shit, nothing will be open and expect some hostility."

This is DIRECTLY THE OPPOSITE of what tourism providers and Visit Cornwall have been working so hard to convey. This utter twat has the leisure and tourism portfolio! So now they're scurrying round trying to distance the official line from his comments.

He thinks grants should provide the lost income. Where are we going to get this grant money from, dickhead?

KaronAVyrus · 16/06/2020 15:28

Welcome CarrotPuff. Feel free to mock scaremongering wherever you see it.

Khione · 16/06/2020 15:31

@Mascotte

"Sadly, we've been told before that a drug can help, I'll believe it when I see it, but won't be going out until people stop DYING!!!"
Sorry - you've definitely put the 'sadly' in the wrong place. I will be

"So!!!!!, We've been told before that a drug can help, I'll believe it when I see it, but won't be going out until people stop 'SADLY DYING!!!"

torydeathdrug · 16/06/2020 15:33

rolling average still heading down - 155 now. Really good news!

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 16/06/2020 15:34

@ibake

"Just very bravely went for a peak on the rest of the site. Now obviously I realise that the poor wee mites are probably exhausted after yesterday's extreme dementoring but, dare I say it, it's quite quiet out there. Much more non-dementor threads on the active boards. God, wouldn't that be a joy if we could get back to the normal bollox of line eyes and CF brides.*"

I'd kill for a decent cf parking thread with drawing

SockYarn · 16/06/2020 15:41

the scottish figures are equally encouraging. New infections on a 7 day average running at 21 today, 37 on 1st June, 280 on 1st May.

I've said all along that this is the issue with the way Saint Nick presents the facts, she gets up and rattles off the list of people in hospital, in ICU, who have "sadly died" but with no context except on the previous day. She says "11 confirmed cases in ICU" and people think shit, that's awful, 11 people seriously ill. But what she doesn't say is that at the peak there were 208 people in ICU.

Teateaandmoretea · 16/06/2020 15:41

If you need to take your children, take them. But don't take them 'for fun'. This still isn't about fun, it's still about saving lives.

In response to me. I took dd with me on a murdering spree in a garden centre 🤷🏻‍♀️

Just back from shopping in town. Most of the small independent shops are open and (because they're small) only allowing a couple of people inside at a time. Which is fine on a Tuesday afternoon, but is going to involve epic queuing on a Saturday, and be very deterring when it rains. Top marks go to our local independent bookshop who have found
a quick drying hand gel which means that you can handle the books, and have encouraging signs up that tell you this. They've also got a new scanner, so so you don't have to hand over the books to them to scan - they can just stay behind their perspex and chat in their usual friendly way. I came back with a half-price rug, two books, some carrot seeds, and some elastic, which is pretty par for the course for shopping in town. No one was harmed, although I may have glared at a couple of babies whose prams were taking up a lot of of shopfloor space.

rookiemere · 16/06/2020 15:47

Oh FFS Drivingdown. How is that position going to be sustainable when we're at no deaths and no new transmissions which will hopefully be soon? Westminster has made it clear they aren't paying for her to wrap Scotland in cotton wool or actually it feels like cling film because we are stifled so much.

KaronAVyrus · 16/06/2020 15:48

The more Sturgeon drags her feet the more unemployment will go up. She’s needs to pull her finger out of her arse and stop dithering.

Teateaandmoretea · 16/06/2020 15:49

So less than half the deaths announced today were in hospital.....

rookiemere · 16/06/2020 15:50

Yeah sadly for her the policy of criticising and then following what England does a couple of weeks later doesn't work when the numbers are so low.

PickAChew · 16/06/2020 15:51

I got excited to find that out of the 2 out of 5 greggseseses in our city, our local one was one of them.

Disappointingly, the regulation Tuna mayo stottie is not on the menu
www.greggs.co.uk/coronavirus
Thankfully, markses seem to have started ordering extra salmon and cucumber sarnies because they're so popular.

CarrotPuff · 16/06/2020 15:51

DD has just had a screaming tantrum because she's been watching too much TV while we were trying to work. But at least she's safe, that's all that matters, right??? 🙄

Was there any mention when libraries are going to open? Or are they deemed too dangerous for life still?

KaronAVyrus · 16/06/2020 15:54

Children might enjoy a trip to the library so sadly they must stay closed along with playparks. Children hate going to Primark so they can open.
