Can you suggest non alcoholic drinks that taste like alcohol?

Just that really. Trying for a baby and like a drink for the social element but won’t drink alcohol so wonder if there’s any alternatives you could recommend?

Yet another vote for Becks Blue. Brew dog alcohol free is really nice too.

Reedshoes · 15/06/2020 22:54

Oh wow thanks very much- I’ve got plenty to go off with all that lot!

Some beers are perfectly drinkable. Brewdog’s Nanny State is excellent and they have introduced other beers which I haven’t tried. Erdinger’s Alkohofrei is a good wheat beer. It’s very popular in German-speaking countries where it is marketed as an isotonic sports drink.

Punk dog AF IPA is good as is a virgin gin & tonic with ice & a slice Smile

I don’t drink anymore and my favourite tipple when out is ginger beer and apple juice. The sharpness of the ginger gives the drink a kick that could seem like it has alcohol in it.

Starksforthewin · 16/06/2020 01:56

I’ve tried Clean Gin during lockdown, and it’s pretty good, especially with a decent tonic.
It’s low alcohol, not alcohol free but a really palatable drink.

They’ve also just brought out a Clean Rum but rum isn’t my bag so haven’t tried that one.

Tillygetsit · 16/06/2020 01:59

Becks blue smells like weed 🤮

CalmConfident · 16/06/2020 02:01

Becks blue - nice and cold. Avoid the bud - it’s horrible with a weird aftertaste.

ThatDreamSheep · 16/06/2020 02:04

I like the non alcoholic ciders. The Kopperberg one is OK but the Old Mout one is lovely

HPLikecraft · 16/06/2020 02:12

Another vote for Becks Blue... I actually prefer it to the real thing now! However I disagree that it tastes exactly the same!

I also like a tonic, angostura and ginger.

BikeRunSki · 16/06/2020 02:19

BEcks Blue
Erdinger

kopparberg mixed fruit beer, non alcoholic one. eisberg wine or pierre zero wine.

BarbaraofSeville · 16/06/2020 04:48

Disagree with just about all these, taste nothing at all like the alcohol versions. Usually far too sweet, taste odd or just missing something. I suppose if you like sweet fruity ciders they're quite close

If it's cutting down rather than alcohol free that you want, Small gin sounds interesting. They've put huge amount of gin botanicals in, so you use less. I haven't tried it though.

Sorry, just seen that it's due to pregnancy, so alcohol free.

Graffitiqueen · 16/06/2020 04:52

I really like crodino. Tastes like aperol.

My favourite AF beer is the Czech one from Sainsbury's.

DryHeave · 16/06/2020 04:57

Fizzero (M&S) comes in sparkling pink or white & is the only AF sparkling substitute I rate.

Otherwise, stock up on cordials, have loads of lemon & lime available, loads of interesting teas etc and a ready supply of ice.

Gimmecaffeine · 16/06/2020 06:30

Fevertree tonics are really nice. The elderflower and mediterranean varieties with ice and a slice hit a g&t spot during my pregnancy

blahblahblahetcetc · 16/06/2020 07:06

Add a teaspoon of dried juniper berries to a bottle of tonic water and let it steep for a day in the fridge. Served with ice and a slice of lemon I swear you can't tell the difference (and I am a drinker). Obviously you need to strain the berries out.

Cannothtinkofaname · 16/06/2020 07:25

Graffitiqueen Where do you buy your Crodino from? We drink this and love it but can only get it from Amazon, imported from Italy. Also wish the bottles were a bit bigger!

Another lovely drink is Everleaf, again I've only found it on Amazon but has a really nice flavour and one of my favourites.

Megatron · 16/06/2020 07:43

Clean gin is very nice but I will also vouch that Becks blue tastes exactly the same as normal Becks.

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/06/2020 09:36

I make my own tonic water - do you want the recipe?

Also, a Chapmans - a non-alcoholic punch consisting of Fanta, Sprite, Grenadine or Ribena and Angostura bitters. Serve in a pint mug with lots of ice and slices of lemon and orange.

BikeRunSki · 16/06/2020 09:54

@MrsSchadrnfrude, please may I have your tonic water recipe?

Graffitiqueen · 16/06/2020 10:38

@Cannothtinkofaname I'm afraid i also pay a fortune for it on Amazon. I was thinking about trying some local Italian delis to see if they have it, but obviously can't at the moment!

whichteaareyou · 16/06/2020 10:40

I had a non alcoholic becks beer in the garden yesterday. Tastes the same!!

Haggisfish · 16/06/2020 10:41

Nosecco is good
